A strategy for accurate prediction of dielectric permittivity and dielectric strength in polyimide

A strategy was proposed to predict accurately the dielectric permittivity and dielectric strength based on the Onsager local field *** molecular dynamic simulation was utilised to analyse the dipole moment fluctuation in polyimide(PI)to reflect the polar-isation response of applied electric *** simulation results revealed that the optical dielectric permittivity and static dielectric permittivity were 2.62 and 3.34,showing that the electronic displacement polarisation of the PI acted as a major *** deviation between simulated and measured values of the frequency-dependent relative dielectric permittivity was no more than 5%,which exhibited high *** the polarisation response of the polar groups in the PI was at infrared frequencies,the conductive loss may be the dominant role in 102–106 Hz at room ***,the effect of Joule heat on the structure,dielectric permittivity and Young modulus was considered to accurately predict the dielectric strength of the PI(359 kV/mm),which was in agreement with experimental values in the *** results establish a clear correlation between structural characteristics and dielectric properties of the PI,which would be the theoretical insights into the design and synthesis of the PI with tailored dielectric properties.

State-of-charge (SOC) estimation is considered as the fundamental challenge for battery management system (BMS). the available SOC estimation methods face difficulty for accurate SOC estimation with different conditions such as (ambient temperature, the speed of wind or the humidity, etc). In this study, the training data and the testing data required in the estimation operation are collected using a real battery pack then followed by normalization. Then, lab experiment with MATLAB simulation applied to validate the results and get a powerful source of data generator. Then, the parameters in the support vector machine for regression model tuned to get the best estimated for SOC. Finally, simulation experiments have been done using python script to train the model and test a new data set. The results show the efficiency of using support vector machine for regression in estimating the battery SOC. © 2024 IEEE.

Legged robots are able to overcome challenging terrains through diverse gaits formed by contact sequences. However, environments characterized by discrete footholds present significant challenges. In this paper, we tackle the problem of free gait motion planning for hexapod robots walking in randomly generated plum blossom pile environments. Specifically, we first address the complexity of multi-leg coordination in discrete environments by treating each leg of the hexapod robot as an individual agent. Then, we propose the Hybrid action space Multi-Agent Soft Actor Critic (Hybrid-MASAC) algorithm capable of handling both discrete and continuous actions. Finally, we present an integrated free gait motion planning method based on Hybrid-MASAC, streamlining gait, Center of Mass (COM), and foothold sequences planning into a single model. Comparative and ablation experiments in both of the simulated and real plum blossom pile environments demonstrate the feasibility and efficiency of our method. © 2024 Proceedings of Machine Learning Research.

Generating Adversarial Patterns in Facial Recognition with Visual Camouflage

Deep neural networks, especially face recognition models, have been shown to be vulnerable to adversarial examples. However, existing attack methods for face recognition systems either cannot attack black-box models, are not universal, have cumbersome deployment processes, or lack camouflage and are easily detected by the human eye. In this paper, we propose an adversarial pattern generation method for face recognition and achieve universal black-box attacks by pasting the pattern on the frame of goggles. To achieve visual camouflage, we use a generative adversarial network (GAN). The scale of the generative network of GAN is increased to balance the performance conflict between concealment and adversarial behavior, the perceptual loss function based on VGG19 is used to constrain the color style and enhance GAN’s learning ability, and the fine-grained meta-learning adversarial attack strategy is used to carry out black-box attacks. Sufficient visualization results demonstrate that compared with existing methods, the proposed method can generate samples with camouflage and adversarial characteristics. Meanwhile, extensive quantitative experiments show that the generated samples have a high attack success rate against black-box models. © 2023, Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

The Homicidal Chauffeur game is a classic pursuit-evasion problem for its significant application in aerospace, robot control, and military. Different from the well-known Isaacs' Homicidal Chauffeur game in which the car's speed is constant, we assume that the car's speed decreases during turns, reflecting the energy limitations in real-world applications. The paper aims to derive the optimal strategies and construct a barrier separating the capture and evasion zones. Initially, we simplify the six- dimensional problem to a three-dimensional one. Subsequently, we deduce the optimal strategy and construct the barrier using the Hamilton-Jacobi-Isaacs equation and backward induction method. A new barrier appears where the optimal strategy of the pursuer is different from the traditional one. That is, when the pursuer's speed is greater than a critical value, the optimal strategy is to apply maximum control;when the pursuer's speed is less than the critical speed, the optimal strategy is to apply zero control. © 2024 IEEE.

Learning region-wise deep feature representation for image analysis

Effective feature representation plays an important role in image analysis tasks. In recent years, deep features, instead of hand-crafted features, have become the mainstream of the representation in image analysis tasks. However, the existing deep learning methods always extract feature representations from the whole image directly. Such strategies concentrate on extracting global features, and tend to fail in capturing local geometric invariance and introduce noise information from regions of not interest. In this paper, we propose a novel region-wise deep feature extraction framework for promoting the local geometric invariance and reducing noise information. In our algorithm, object proposal is adopted to generate a set of foreground object bounding boxes, from which the pre-trained convolutional neural network model is adopted to extract region-wise deep features. Then, an improved vector of locally aggregated descriptors strategy with weighted multi-neighbor assignment is proposed to encode the local region-wise feature representations. The final feature representation is not restricted to the classification task, and can also be further quantized to hash codes for large-scale image retrieval. Extensive experiments conducted on publicly available datasets demonstrate the promising performance of our work against the state-of-the-art methods in both image retrieval and classification tasks. © 2018, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.
