Accurate measurement of the power consumed by the distorted signals has been focused on in recent years due to its practical utilities. In this work, a mathematical description of powers is deducted in the condition of distorted signals according to a simplified model of the electrical network. Then, a rational measuring method of the electric energy for distorted signals is proposed on the basis of the analysis of the power flow. Also, the wavelet sub-band measuring method was employed for measuring the electric energy in the condition of unsteady distorted signals. Experimental results demonstrate that, by using the simulated typical distorted signals, the proposed measurement method can produce extremely accurate results compared to theoretical results.

In this paper, a blind audio watermarking scheme using stereo signals is proposed. In the proposed scheme, each bit of watermark bit stream is embedded into ldquonon-silentrdquo samples of stereo audio signals. The watermark bits can be embedded by replacing least significant bit or bits in higher bit layers of original signal samples. Robustness and performance of this audio watermarking scheme under different types of attacks, such as addition of noise, MP3 compression and re-sampling are investigated. Watermark extraction rates are calculated. Different audio signals including music, speech are used for the experiments. It is found that the proposed audio watermarking scheme, compared with the use of single channel signals, is much more robust against addition of white noise.

During production or commercialization of fine iron powder, water content is the most important parameter for evaluating and controlling the fine iron powder properties. In order to improve the portability, operability, and speed of the water determination and to reduce testing cost, a new method to quickly detect the water content in fine iron powder using capacitance type sensor is put forward. The basic principle and characteristics of this measuring technique are examined. Structure and testing circuit for the capacity sensor are designed with parameters optimized through experimental research. A mathematical model to correlate water content to the capacitance is proposed. The present work had laid the foundation for developing an utility-type fast detecting device for water content in fine iron powder which can be adopted in real-time monitoring for processing or trading of fine iron powder.

Adaptive trajectory tracking control of two-wheeled self-balance robot

Wheeled mobile robot is one of the well-known nonholonomic systems. A two-wheeled self-balance robot is taken as the research objective. This paper carried out a detailed force analysis of the robot and established a non-linear dynamics model. An adaptive tracking controller for the kinematic model of a nonholonomic mobile robot with unknown parameters is also proposed. Using control Lyapunov function (CLF), the controller's global asymptotic stability has been proven. The adaptive trajectory tracking controller decreases the disturbance in the course of tracking control and enhances the real-time control characteristics. The simulation result indicated that the wheeled mobile robot tracking can be effectively controlled. Copyright © by High technology Letters Press.

With the improvement of the capability of the internet and spread of its overcastting area,it is possible to transmit industrial field data in a long distance on the Internet and display them on a remote PC. And controlling field data collection on the internet is a great improvement for data sampling devices. Based on embedded processor LPC2100 and Ethernet interface controller RTL80/9AS. hardware of data collecting module is designed in this paper. In the software design of the module,embedded real time operating system,uC/OS-If,is transplanted into the LPC22I0. And the TCP/IP protocol is realized based on sOCKET API provide by ZLG/IP. The module can collect 8-channel analog signals in timing;transmit the collecting data to the Internet on the protocol of TCP/IP;and realize the long-distance transmitting of field industrial data on the Internet. The hardware diagram and main part circuit is given in details. The flowcharts of software design illustrate the procedure of programming.

In this study the pulse wave characteristics were used as a new approach to measure the human blood pressure. Based the principle of pulse wave and theory of the elastic vascular, the authors analyzed the characteristic of the pulse waveforms and revealed the characteristics points which could be used to represent the blood pressure. In this investigation the relevant mathematical feature was used to identify the relationship between the blood pressure and pulse wave parameters in a more accurate way. It also provided an experimental basis to carry out continuing non‐invasive blood pressure monitoring using the pulse wave method.

Analysis on influence of image quality for errors of CCD mosaics technology

Present application status of CCD mosaics is introduced the error type which the technology of CCD mosaic produced is analyzed. A model which can analyze influence for overlap error of CCD mosaics to image quality is built. Modulation transfer function (MTF) is used as evaluating indicator which analyzes the influences of overlap error linear error and coplane error. The emulation produced that the three kinds of error influenced the image quality linear error influence is more at one direction with the same deflection angle coplane error influence decrease with the increasing of F number. Overlap error influenced image quality of adjacent of CCD edge and reduction pixel size can decrease the influence.

Minimum changes bandwidth allocation (MCBA) is an optimal video transmission scheme resulting in the minimum number of rate changes with the minimum peak rate, which can reduce renegotiation frequency in statistical multiplexing service. The existing MCBA algorithm with searching frontiers, however, has a high computational complexity, which depressed the applicability of MCBA. In this paper, we design a fast algorithm of MCBA that examines for the bounded point based on the convex envelopes of the overflow and underflow curve. As a result, our algorithm can work out an MCBA scheme in a shorter time because we can find the bounded point with a linear complexity, and calculate each transmission rate within several iterations. The simulation using real video traces confirmed the philosophy and efficiency of our algorithm.

Constant rate transmission and transport (CRTT) is an effective bandwidth smoothing scheme resulting in one fixed rate during the whole duration of variable bit-rate video, which, however, needs a large client buffer size. The minimum buffer requirement (MBR) of CRTT, besides benefiting the design of some piecewise transmission scheme, can examine whether we can transmit the requested video with a constant rate for a given buffer size. In this paper, we formulate off-line bandwidth smoothing into a binary classification problem of the underflow and overflow points. Then we propose a novel algorithm based on support vector machine because of its equal margin, which,we have proven, is able to minimize the required buffer size of CRTT. Our algorithm, therefore, can exactly calculate MBR together with the CRTT transmission rate without exhaustively searching buffer sizes and startup delay. The simulation results using some real MPEG4 and H.264 video show the philosophy and effectiveness of our algorithm.

Fisher discriminant analysis (FDA) is a popular method for supervised dimensionality reduction. FDA seeks for an embedding transformation such that the ratio of the between-class scatter to the within-class scatter is maximized. Labeled data, however, often consume much time and are expensive to obtain, as they require the efforts of human annotators. In order to cope with the problem of effectively combining unlabeled data with labeled data to find the embedding transformation, we propose a novel method, called subspace semi-supervised Fisher discriminant analysis (SSFDA), for semi-supervised dimensionality reduction. SSFDA aims to find an embedding transformation that respects the discriminant structure inferred from the labeled data and the intrinsic geometrical structure inferred from both the labeled and unlabeled data. We also show that SSFDA can be extended to nonlinear dimensionality reduction scenarios by applying the kernel trick. The experimental results on face recognition demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithm.
