An optical current sensor based on the theory of Fabry-Perot interferometer is reported. Theoretical aspects of FP interferometer and optical sensors are described. A structure of the fixed cross beam with a permanent magnet has been designed and the deflection of the magnet under an electromagnetic field leads to the beam displacement. The length of FP microcavity changes with this displacement and the variation is detected by FBG scanning demodulation. The relationship between the measured current and the output light intensity is established and simulation results are also showed herein.

This Algorithm can find out all test patterns one tithe, so faults detection is very convenient. By simulation, the smallest test patterns set can be obtained and faults coverage rate is 100%.

Detection and prevention of Phenylketonuria (PKU) is becoming more and more important. However, the current methods are either imprecise or time-consuming. We propose a biosensor system based on phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) immobilized on an ammonia electrode to measure blood phenylalanine for PKU prevention. The biosensor exhibits good linearity from 10-5000 muM and the response time is only about 2 minutes. It remains stable for at least 5 days and less than 20% drop of the original activity after ten day storage at 4 D, while the service life of the biosensor could be up to 30 days. We also develop an intelligent system to ensure optimal conditions for operation and preservation of the biosensor and to make detection more convenient and reliable. All of these advantages indicate that the newly developed method could be a better one for solving the problems of PKU detection

There is a very large demand for basic telephone service in developing nations, and remote parts of industrialized nations, which cannot be met by conventional wireline and cellular systems. This is the world's largest unserved market. We describe a system which uses recent advances in active phased arrays, fast-packet switching technology, adaptive routeing, and light spacecraft technology, in part based on the work of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and on recently-declassified work done on the Strategic Defense Initiative, to make it possible to address this market with a global telephone network based on a large low-Earth-orbit constellation of identical satellites. A telephone utility can use such a network to provide the same modern basic and enhanced telephone services offered by telephone utilities in the urban centres of fully-industrialized nations. Economies of scale permit capital and operating costs per subscriber low enough to provide a service to all subscribers, regardless of location, at prices comparable to the same services in urban areas of industrialized nations, while generating operating profits great enough to attract the capital needed for its construction. The bandwidth needed to support the capacity needed to gain these economies of scale requires that the system use K(alpha)-band frequencies. This choice of frequencies places unusual constraints on the network design, and in particular forces the use of a large number of satellites. Global demand for basic and enhanced telephone service is great enough to support at least three networks of the size described herein. The volume of advanced components, and services such as launch services, required to construct and replace these networks is sufficient to propel certain industries to market leadership positions in the early 21st Century.

He completed his flight training in 1951 and first served in Composite Squadron 33 on board Atlantic and Pacific Fleet aircraft carriers until 1954. He then attended the U.S. Navy Postgraduate School in Aeronautical Engineering and was awarded his Masters degree in SM Aero-Weapons Systems by Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1957 at which time he was ordered to Heavy Attack Squadron ONE embarked in Atlantic ‘Fleet aircraft carriers. He graduated from the Naval War College Command and Staff Course in 1961 and subsequently sensed on the Staff U.S. Naval Safety Center arid was Operations Officer. Executive Officer and Commanding Officer of Heavy Attack Squadron SIX and Reconnaissance Attack Squadron THREE. From 1968 until 1970 he was Executive Officer of the USS John F. Kennedy (CVA-67) when the ship was commissioned and first deployed followed by duty in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNA V) where he served under the Director of Fleet Operations until 1971. Capt. Smith commanded the Fast Combat Support Ship USS Detroit (AOE-4) during her first deployment was Commanding Officer. USS Independence (CV-62): and later returned to OPNAV where he was the Deputy Director of the Aircraft Carrier Programs an assignment which he held until August 1976 when he assumed his present duties as Chief Navy Section MAAG. Greece. Capt. Richard E. Foster USN (Ret.):has been affiliated with Wheeler Industries. Inc. us Program Manager since 1968 when he retired from the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with the Class of 1941 and later attended the U.S. Navy Postgraduate School in Engineering Design. He served at sea as Electrical Officer in the USS Pennsylvania and as Engineer Officer in the USS Indiana and the aircraft carrier USS Wright.
