The problem of data imbalance has received far- reaching concerns since they could affect the accuracy of classification problem in the area of machine learning. As the minority class instances can be ignored by traditional classifiers, it is necessary to improve the recognition rate of minority instances. Therefore, the paper proposes a new hybrid sampling method to solve the data imbalance problem by enlarging the proportion of minority instances. For the oversampling part, a variant of SMOTE is provided combining methods of LR-SMOTE and CCR (Combined Cleaning and Resampling Algorithm);for the under-sampling part, the Tomek-link method is utilized to complete the task. After the pre-processing stage, the data set is classified by Random Forest (RF). Experimental results show that the novel algorithm effectively enhances the performance of RF on the data set with a higher accuracy. © 2021 IEEE.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be utilized as relay platforms to assist maritime wireless communications. However, complex channels and multipath effects at sea can adversely affect the quality of UAV transmitted signals. Collaborative beamforming (CB) can enhance the signal strength and range to assist the UAV relay for remote maritime communications. However, due to the open nature of UAV channels, security issue requires special consideration. This paper proposes a dual UAV cluster-assisted system via CB to achieve physical layer security in maritime wireless communications. Specifically, one UAV cluster forms a maritime UAV-enabled virtual antenna array (MUVAA) relay to forward data signals to the remote legitimate vessel, and the other UAV cluster forms an MUVAA jammer to send jamming signals to the remote eavesdropper. In this system, we formulate a secure and energy-efficient maritime communication multi-objective optimization problem (SEMCMOP) to maximize the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of the legitimate vessel, minimize the SINR of the eavesdropping vessel and minimize the total flight energy consumption of UAVs. Since the SEMCMOP is an NP-hard and large-scale optimization problem, we propose an improved swarm intelligence optimization algorithm with chaotic solution initialization and hybrid solution update strategies to solve the problem. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms other comparison algorithms, and it can achieve more efficient signal transmission by using the CB-based method. This paper deals with dynamic quantized consensus of dynamical agents in a general form under packet losses induced by Denial-of-Service (DoS) attacks. The communication channel has limited bandwidth and hence the transmitted signals over the network are subject to quantization. To deal with agent’s output, an observer is implemented at each node. The state of the observer is quantized by a finite-level quantizer and then transmitted over the network. To solve the problem of quantizer overflow under malicious packet losses, a zooming-in and out dynamic quantization mechanism is designed. By the new quantized controller proposed in the paper, the zooming-out factor is lower bounded by the spectral radius of the agent’s dynamic matrix. A sufficient condition of quantization range is provided under which the finite-level quantizer is free of overflow. A sufficient condition of tolerable DoS attacks for achieving consensus is also provided. At last, we study scalar dynamical agents as a special case and further tighten the zooming-out factor to a value smaller than the agent’s dynamic parameter. Under such a zooming-out factor, it is possible to recover the level of tolerable DoS attacks to that of unquantized consensus, and the quantizer is free of overflow. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.

The phenomenon of electric breakdown poses serious challenges to the design of devices that operate in high electric field environments. Experimental evidence points toward breakdown events that are accompanied by elevated temperatures and dark current spikes, which is attributed to high-asperity nanostructure formation that enhances the local electric field and triggers a runaway process. However, the exact mechanistic origin of such nanostructures under typical macroscopic operational conditions of electric field and magnetic-field-mediated heating remains poorly understood. In this work, we simulate the evolution of a copper surface under the combined action of the electric fields and elevated temperatures. Using a mesoscale curvature-driven surface evolution model, we show how a copper surface can undergo a type of dynamical instability that naturally leads to the formation of sharp asperities in realistic experimental conditions. Exploring the combined effect of fields and temperature rise, we identify the critical regimes that allow for the formation of breakdown precursors. The results show that thermoelastic stresses, while not essential, can significantly lower the critical electric field required for runaway surface instability, which is consistent with experimental observations that thermal effects can increase breakdown rates.

We theoretically describe and experimentally demonstrate a graphene-integrated metasurface structure that enables electrically-tunable directional control of thermal emission. This device consists of a dielectric spacer that acts as a Fabry-Perot resonator supporting long-range delocalized modes bounded on one side by an electrostatically tunable metal-graphene metasurface. By varying the Fermi level of the graphene, the accumulated phase of the Fabry-Perot mode is shifted, which changes the direction of absorption and emission at a fixed frequency. We directly measure the frequency- and angle-dependent emissivity of the thermal emission from a fabricated device heated to 250 ◦C. Our results show that electrostatic control allows the thermal emission at 6.61 µm to be continuously steered over 16◦, with a peak emissivity maintained above 0.9. We analyze the dynamic behavior of the thermal emission steerer theoretically using a Fano interference model, and use the model to design optimized thermal steerer structures. © 2023, CC BY.

Once AI begins gathering client data, the marketing sector will alter drastically. This research uses sophisticated AI technologies to better understand how complex client behaviors might be. We examine pricing solutions, including social media mood monitoring, joint filtering algorithms for targeted marketing, and reinforcement learning-based dynamic pricing. Neural networks are being investigated for application in e-commerce predictive analytics and predicting subscription cancellations. This research examines clustering algorithms' performance to see whether they may be utilized for cross-channel marketing activities, including consumer segmentation and credit modeling. Can deception exist in differential games? We provide a case study for a Turret-Attacker differential game, where two Attackers seek to score points by reaching a target region while a Turret tries to minimize the score by aligning itself with the Attackers before they reach the target. In contrast to the original problem solved with complete information, we assume that the Turret only has partial information about the maximum speed of the Attackers. We investigate whether there is any incentive for the Attackers to move slower than their maximum speed in order to "deceive" the Turret into taking suboptimal actions. We first describe the existence of a dilemma that the Turret may face. Then we derive a set of initial conditions from which the Attackers can force the Turret into a situation where it must take a guess. © 2024, CC BY.

Holographic multiple-input multiple-output (HMI-MO) has recently motivated its potential use to handle the exponentially increasing data transmission demands by achieving a spatially continuous aperture. With densely-packed metamaterial elements, the reconfigurable refractive surfaces (RRSs) serving as antennas emerge to enable HMIMO. In this paper, we consider a multi-user system where an RRS is employed as the transmit antenna array at the base station (BS). To avoid the high overhead of acquiring perfect channel state information (CSI), a codebook and beam training mechanism is required to develop the beamforming scheme. Given the large physical dimension of the RRS, users are likely to distribute in both the near field and the far field of the BS, making the codebook design more difficult. To address this issue, we design a hybrid near-far field codebook which applies to all users in any location with low overhead. To further reduce the training overhead, each codeword is designed to cover multiple spatial areas, enabling a multi-user beam training mechanism which can be performed for all users simultaneously. Under a general setting including both the near-field and far-field users, simulation results show that the proposed scheme significantly reduces the overhead and achieves a higher sum rate compared to the state-of-the-art codebooks, which performs very close to that of the perfect CSI case.

Escape routing is a critical problem in PCB routing, and its quality dramatically affects the cost of the PCB design. Unlike the traditional escape routing that works mainly for the BGA with unique line width and space, this paper presents a high-performance escape routing algorithm to handle problems with variable design rules and multiple constraints. We first propose a novel obstacle-avoiding method to project pins to the boundary and construct a channel projection graph combined with a channel merging technique to handle complex irregular packages. We then construct a bi-projection graph and propose a matching-based hierarchical sequencing algorithm to consider manual constraints. We perform global routing for each pin/differential pair by congestion-avoiding path initializing and rip-up and reroute path optimizing. Finally, a length-aware detail routing algorithm is developed to optimize the line length while ensuring the differential pair constraints. The experimental results on industrial PCB instances show that our algorithm can achieve 100% routability without violating the design rules and constraints, while two state-of-the-art PCB routers, FreeRouting and Allegro, cannot complete escape routing. © 1982-2012 IEEE.
