This paper proposes an intelligent dynamic modeling method for strip rolling process. Actuators of a cold rolling mill perform actions, including work roll bending, intermediate roll bending, and roll gap tilting, to regulate the product quality. Conventional first-principles modeling necessitates intricate mathematical equations derived from process analysis and action evaluation. However, the complexity of the model increases the difficulty of upgrading the model. To address this limitation, a novel approach involving a deep neural network with a Gaussian distribution layer is proposed to effectively capture the process dynamics. A negative log likelihood is established as the loss function for the model using real-world industrial data. Experiment outcomes demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method in achieving an accurate dynamic model. © 2024 IEEE.

Recently,there has been an upsurge of activity in image-based non-photorealistic rendering(NPR),and in particular portrait image stylisation,due to the advent of neural style transfer(NST).However,the state of performance evaluation in this field is poor,especially compared to the norms in the computer vision and machine learning ***,the task of evaluating image stylisation is thus far not well defined,since it involves subjective,perceptual,and aesthetic *** make progress towards a solution,this paper proposes a new structured,threelevel,benchmark dataset for the evaluation of stylised portrait *** criteria were used for its construction,and its consistency was validated by user ***,a new methodology has been developed for evaluating portrait stylisation algorithms,which makes use of the different benchmark levels as well as annotations provided by user studies regarding the characteristics of the *** perform evaluation for a wide variety of image stylisation methods(both portrait-specific and general purpose,and also both traditional NPR approaches and NST)using the new benchmark dataset.

Control devices such as inverters and generator controllers are critical for the stable operation of the power grid, especially for power stability control and power dispatch. However, the Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) is a potential threat to electronic devices in modern power grids, therefore decreasing the power grid resilience and bringing unrecoverable damages to the devices. To reveal the impact mechanism of the EMP, impedance and Pulse Current Injection (PCI) testing is established to study the vulnerability of the grid control devices. The impedance of the grid control devices is accurately measured using impedance analyzers with different frequency ranges. Then the voltage and current responses are tested based on the PCI testing. The vulnerability experiments based on two grid control devices are carried out. And the comparison results reveal that most ports would be damaged under EC8, and some ports can survive under EC5 according to the calculated PCI response and cumulative energy. The results can provide a reference for the future design of control devices and the strategic resilience of power grids. © 2023 IEEE.

A fringe projection profilometry with a large depth range geometric constraint is proposed, which can periodically encode the background without reducing the fringe amplitude to achieve high-frequency phase unwrapping. This method makes adequate use of the redundant part of the sinusoidal signal to embed the period information into the background, which ensures that the fringes have high signal-to-noise ratios;furthermore, in order to realize the high-frequency phase unwrapping, we introduce geometric constraints into the fringe projection system, whereby the depth range of the 3D measurement system is effectively extended. In addition, a phase-based compensation method is proposed to compensate for period orders at the edges of the period background encoding. Compared with the conventional phase coding method, this method performs period encoding of the background and avoids the problem of incorrect period order due to system nonlinearity. Also, the measurement depth range for geometric constraints is significantly extended without the need to obtain any information about the object in advance. Experimentally, the 3D profile of a standard plane, a complex object and separated objects were measured using the proposed method. The results show that this method can achieve fast and high-precision measurement of object contours using four fringe patterns. © 2024 SPIE.

Multidimensional-engineering chalcogenide glasses is widely explored to construct various infrared photonic devices,with their surface as a key dimension for wavefront ***,we demonstrate direct patterning high-aspect-ratio microstructures on the surface of chalcogenide glasses offers an efficient and robust method to manipulate longwave infrared *** chalcogenide glass being considered soft in terms of its mechanical properties,we successfully fabricate high-aspect-ratio micropillars with a height of 8μm using optimized deep etching process,and we demonstrate a 2-mm-diameter all-chalcogenide metalens with a numerical aperture of 0.45 on the surface of a 1.5-mm-thick As2Se3 *** the exceptional longwave infrared(LWIR)transparency and moderate refractive index of As2Se3 glass,the all-chalcogenide metalens produces a focal spot size of~1.39λ0 with a focusing efficiency of 47%at the wavelength of 9.78μm,while also exhibiting high-resolution imaging *** work provides a promising route to realize easy-to-fabricate,mass-producible planar infrared optics for compact,light-weight LWIR imaging systems.

In the Noisy Intermediate Scale Quantum (NISQ) era, finding implementations of quantum algorithms that mini-mize the number of expensive and error prone multi-qubit gates is vital to ensure computations produce meaningful outputs. Unitary synthesis, the process of finding a quantum circuit that implements some target unitary matrix, is able to solve this problem optimally in many cases. However, current bottom-up unitary synthesis algorithms are limited by their exponentially growing run times. We show how applying machine learning to unitary datasets permits drastic speedups for synthesis algorithms. This paper presents QSeed, a seeded synthesis algorithm that employs a learned model to quickly propose resource efficient circuit implementations of unitaries. QSeed maintains low gate counts and offers a speedup of 3.7 x in synthesis time over the state of the art for a 64 qubit modular exponentiation circuit, a core component in Shor's factoring algorithm. QSeed's performance improvements also generalize to families of circuits not seen during the training process. © 2023 IEEE.

Hyperautomation for Air Quality Evaluations: A Perspective of Evidential Three-way Decision-making

Hyperautomation acts as a real digital transformation with the support of several cutting-edge cognitive computation methods that include robotic process automation, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, and other emerging ones, which is conducive to processing complex industrial processes via extending the range of various data-driven cognitive decision-making algorithms. The study of air quality evaluations (AQE) plays a significant role in ensuring healthy atmospheric environments. In view of the objective existence of uncertainties, AQE can be modeled and addressed by a typical data-driven automated decision-making problem, and hyperautomation can provide a reasonable solution via associating with a variety of techniques. This article explores hyperautomation for AQE via evidential three-way large-scale group decision-making (LSGDM) in an intuitionistic fuzzy (IF) setting. First, the notion of intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) is incorporated into the paradigm of multi-granularity (MG) three-way decisions (TWD), and the model of adjustable MG IF probabilistic rough sets (PRSs) is developed. Second, an IF clustering analysis with the improved technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) method is conducted to affirm representative members within a decision group. Third, a novel IF LSGDM method is built via adjustable MG IF PRSs and the evidence reasoning (ER) method. Finally, a case study in the setting of AQE is studied by using the presented evidential three-way LSGDM method. Corresponding experimental analyses are carried out for illustrating the efficiency of hyperautomation for AQE. In general, the proposed method improves the performance of information fusion by virtue of adjustable MG IF PRSs, and the TOPSIS method avoids the influence of subjective factors on decision results.
