Patient privacy and data protection have been crucial concerns in Ehealthcare systems for many *** modern-day applications,patient data usually holds clinical imagery,records,and other medical ***,the Internet of Medical Things(IoMT),equipped with cloud computing,has come out to be a beneficial paradigm in the healthcare ***,the openness of networks and systems leads to security threats and illegal ***,reliable,fast,and robust security methods need to be developed to ensure the safe exchange of healthcare data generated from various image sensing and other IoMT-driven devices in the IoMT *** paper presents an image protection scheme for healthcare applications to protect patients’medical image data exchanged in IoMT *** proposed security scheme depends on an enhanced 2D discrete chaotic map and allows dynamic substitution based on an optimized highly-nonlinear S-box and diffusion to gain an excellent security *** optimized S-box has an excellent nonlinearity score of *** new image protection scheme is efficient enough to exhibit correlation values less than 0.0022,entropy values higher than 7.999,and NPCR values around 99.6%.To reveal the efficacy of the scheme,several comparison studies are *** comparison studies reveal that the novel protection scheme is robust,efficient,and capable of securing healthcare imagery in IoMT systems.

Water is an essential component of the Earth’s climate,but monitoring its properties using autonomous underwater sampling robots remains a significant challenge due to lack of underwater geolocalization *** methods for underwater geolocalization rely on tethered systems with limited coverage or daytime imagery data in clear waters,leaving much of the underwater environment *** in turbid waters or at night has been considered unfeasible due to absence of identifiable *** this paper,we present a novel method for underwater geolocalization using deep neural networks trained on-10 million polarization-sensitive images acquired globally,along with camera position sensor *** approach achieves longitudinal accuracy of-55 km(-1000 km)during daytime(nighttime)at depths up to-8 m,regardless of water *** clear waters,the transfer learning longitudinal accuracy is-255 km at 50 m *** leveraging optical data in conjunction with camera position information,our novel method facilitates underwater geolocalization and offers a valuable tool for untethered underwater navigation.

With the deep integration of cyber tools, control algorithms are increasingly employed in cyber-physical energy systems to enhance management, cost efficiency, and robustness. Effective demand load management is crucial in cyber-physical energy systems as it directly impacts operational costs. Failure to adequately manage spiky or seasonal demand loads can lead to significant expenses on monthly utility bills. In this study, we propose AMPAMOD, a randomized online algorithm with machine-learned advice, to optimize battery operations and mitigate highly dynamic peak loads. AMPAMOD utilizes limited advice from machine learning algorithms to guide our online algorithm and ensure cost-effective peak load management. The theoretical analysis shows that our solution has minimal advice complexity, a linear computational cost, and an improved competitive ratio. Finally, we conduct extensive trace-driven experiments on real-world datasets. AMPAMOD achieves a peak shaving success rate of over 90%, outperforming baselines by at least 50%. These experimental results confirm theoretical findings and demonstrate the potential of AMPAMOD. © 2023 IEEE.

Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) possess advantageous optoelectronic properties, so perovskite emitters and perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) are promising candidates for next-generation high-colour-purity displays and lighting applications. Within the past 5 years, the luminescence efficiency of MHP emitters and PeLEDs has increased rapidly. However, the industrial applications of perovskites are impeded by several technical bottlenecks, such as insufficient colour reproducibility, low operational stability, toxicity and limited large-scale production. In this Review, we survey the current status of MHP emitters and PeLEDs and provide a technical roadmap to highlight the goals and requirements for them to successfully enter the markets for vivid displays with high colour purity, augmented and virtual reality displays and general and special lighting. We also set out steps for future research in MHPs and their device applications.

Patterned nanomagnet arrays (PNAs) have been shown to exhibit a strong geometrically frustrated dipole interaction. Some PNAs have also shown emergent domain wall dynamics. Previous works have demonstrated methods to physically probe these magnetization dynamics of PNAs to realize neuromorphic reservoir systems that exhibit chaotic dynamical behavior and high-dimensional nonlinearity. These PNA reservoir systems from prior works leverage echo state properties and linear/nonlinear short-term memory of component reservoir nodes to map and preserve the dynamical information of the input time-series data into nondelay spatial embeddings. Such mappings enable these PNA reservoir systems to imitate and predict/forecast the input time series data. However, these prior PNA reservoir systems are based solely on the nondelay spatial embeddings obtained at component reservoir nodes. As a result, they require a massive number of component reservoir nodes, or a very large spatial embedding (i.e., high-dimensional spatial embedding) per reservoir node, or both, to achieve acceptable imitation and prediction accuracy. These requirements reduce the practical feasibility of such PNA reservoir systems. To address this shortcoming, we present a mixed delay/nondelay embeddings-based PNA reservoir system. Our system uses a single PNA reservoir node with the ability to obtain a mixture of delay/nondelay embeddings of the dynamical information of the time-series data applied at the input of a single PNA reservoir node. Our analysis shows that when these mixed delay/nondelay embeddings are used to train a perceptron at the output layer, our reservoir system outperforms existing PNA-based reservoir systems for the imitation of NARMA 2, NARMA 5, NARMA 7, and NARMA 10 time series data, and for the short-term and long-term prediction of the Mackey Glass time series data. © 2024 IEEE.

Concurrent B+trees have been widely used in many systems. With the scale of data requests increasing exponentially, the systems are facing tremendous performance pressure. GPU has shown its potential to accelerate concurrent B+trees performance. When many concurrent requests are processed, the conflicts should be detected and resolved. Prior methods guarantee the correctness of concurrent GPU B+trees through lock-based or software transactional memory (STM)-based approaches. However, these methods complicate the request processing logic, increase the number of memory accesses and bring execution path divergence. They lead to performance degradation and variance in response time increasing. Moreover, previous methods do not guarantee linearizability among concurrent requests. In this paper, we design a combined-based concurrency control framework, called Eirene, for GPU B+tree to reduce the overhead of conflict detection and resolution. First, a combining-based synchronization method is designed to combine and issue requests. It combines the requests with the same key, constructs their dependence, decides the issued request, and determines their return values. Since only one request for each key is issued, key conflicts are eliminated. Then, an optimistic STM method is used to reduce structure conflicts. The query and the update requests are partitioned into different kernels. For the update kernels, STM is involved only when the number of the retry reaches a threshold. Finally, a locality-aware warp reorganization optimization is proposed to improve memory behavior and reduce conflicts by exploiting the locality among requests. Evaluations on an NVIDIA A100 GPU show that Eirene is efficient (a throughput of 2.4 billion per second) and can guarantee linearizability. Compared to the state-of-the-art GPU B+tree, it can achieve a speedup of 7.43X and reduce the response time variance from 36% to 5%. © 2023 ACM.

Effective data transmission plays a crucial role in federated learning (FL), which enables collaborative model training without centralizing data. This paper proposes a new coded transmission to enhance the communication quality for FL. The proposed coded transmission incorporates weight quantization, multilevel coding, set partitioning, and multi-stage decoding which are optimized to improve the FL performance. Furthermore, the unequal error protection (UEP) strategy is adopted in the proposed coded transmission, which allows the code rates to be optimized according to the significance of the quantized data. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed UEP-based coded transmission outperforms conventional bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) scheme in terms of NMSE performance for FL, which, in return, improves the FL performance. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper reports a facile, high-resolution, and cleanroom-free technique to fabricate grooved microneedles for ISF sampling using capillary action. A master mold for grooved MN array with high aspect ratio is fabricated using two photon polymerization based 3D printer. Biocompatible photo-curable resin is casted into molds to realize microneedles;molding makes this approach scalable for large volume production. A sodium polyacrylate-based bead is placed on the distal end of the grooved microchannels as an absorbent to sustain interstitial fluid (ISF) sampling. The ISF is easily recovered from the swollen sodium polyacrylate beads for further analysis. The MNs' continuous fluid extraction has been successfully tested and validated in the lab. © 2022 MicroTAS 2022 - 26th International Conference on Miniaturized Systems for Chemistry and Life sciences.
