The Micro Air Vehicle Link (MAVLink) protocol plays a crucial role in enabling communication between drones and Ground Control Stations (GCS). With the increasing adoption of drones, the security and integrity of MAVLink protocol have also become paramount. This paper delves into the fundamental aspects of MAVLink, highlighting its security challenges and proposing potential solutions to enhance its resilience against cyber threats. The study presents findings on the vulnerabilities of the MAVLink protocol and introduces a novel approach to securing communications on the MAVLink protocol for drones. The paper evaluates different Authenticated Encryption with Associated Data (AEAD) schemes and their impact on the performance of MAVLink, emphasizing the importance of encryption and authentication for ensuring data security. The results demonstrate the efficiency of the Chacha20Poly1305 encryption mechanism in execution time, the AES-OCB3 scheme as the least CPU-intensive, and AES-CCM in terms of memory usage. By adding the AEAD scheme into the MAVLink payload, we not only provide message confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity but also provide MAVLink header integrity to the drone environment. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper introduces a novel approach using deep reinforcement learning (DRL) to enhance network slicing planning and handovers in satellite networks. We propose a proactive handover trigger based on remaining service time and employ the deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) algorithm to maximize the utility of virtual networks (VNs). Focusing on the Korean Peninsula, we simulate a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite network based on Starlink satellite specifications and demonstrate the superiority of our intelligent network management technique compared to baseline methods, particularly in terms of latency performance and the number of handovers. © 2023 IEEE.

Object moving tracking is one of the furthermost attractive and critical chores in computer science and computer vision research domain. Object moving tracking is underpinned for various higher-level automated applications in different research domains such as surveillance of video, motion capture and Augmented Reality (AR) in computer vision. Object tracking is the significant section of an intelligent video surveillance system (IVS) which can be further used for finding many other apprehensive or suspicious activities. Through the independent and exhaustive research of the current object motion and moving tracking technology, collective with hands- on application of IVS (intelligent video surveillance). In computer science many different algorithms available for object path tracking, object tracking and object motion detection, but mean shift algorithm (MSA) is the most popular and basic approach. We use mean shift algorithm (MSA) for our research work. The proposed work in this paper with following objectives, a) Video series frame production for tracking of a moving body, b) Design of experiments for object detection, c) Formulation and implementation of an algorithm to detect object *** algorithm was applied on an image frame of a recorded video. Based on multiple input images, we were able to detect the object and track its successive image frames. The realistic execution may want to obtain the object body tracking without losing any input frame and could magnificently coat bounding field. After completion of the mean shift algorithm (MSA) it would be able to produce an image sequence. The maneuver and precision of the algorithm was tested by successfully overlay function in the identified object and user defined object. © 2023 IEEE.

Across a wide range of sectors, blockchain technology has emerged as a game-changing option for secure data storage. This research dives into the mechanisms that enable blockchain to protect data integrity and immutability. This research investigates how blockchain technology reduces the chances of data tampering and unauthorized adjustments by examining its underlying concepts and features, such as decentralization, cryptography, consensus procedures, and immutability. Blockchain networks are decentralized, so they don't rely on any one entity to function. This eliminates one potential point of failure or manipulation. Data is protected from tampering and disclosure thanks to the use of hash functions and digital signatures, two examples of strong cryptographic algorithms. By confirming and agreeing on transactions, consensus methods like Proof of Work (PoW) and Proof of Stake (PoS) keep the blockchain ledger up-to-date and accurate. By linking blocks together and recording timestamps, blockchain makes it practically impossible to alter data after it has been recorded. The distributed ledger's availability to the public and ease of use encourage accountability and deter dishonest participants. Smart contracts eliminate the need for third parties by automating operations based on predetermined rules that cannot be altered after they have been created. This study also delves into blockchain fork resistance, incentives for truthful involvement, and other network security measures. It also covers the security implications of both permissioned and permissionless blockchains. Blockchain technology provides strong security procedures, but it has several drawbacks that must be taken into account. These include issues with scalability and the possibility of security flaws in smart contracts. We propose a Regularized Adaptive Momentum Dual Averaging (RAMDA) algorithm for training structured neural networks. Similar to existing regularized adaptive methods, the subproblem for computing the update direction of RAMDA involves a nonsmooth regularizer and a diagonal preconditioner, and therefore does not possess a closed-form solution in general. We thus also carefully devise an implementable inexactness condition that retains convergence guarantees similar to the exact versions, and propose a companion efficient solver for the subproblems of both RAMDA and existing methods to make them practically feasible. We leverage the theory of manifold identification in variational analysis to show that, even in the presence of such inexactness, the iterates of RAMDA attain the ideal structure induced by the regularizer at the stationary point of asymptotic convergence. This structure is locally optimal near the point of convergence, so RAMDA is guaranteed to obtain the best structure possible among all methods converging to the same point, making it the first regularized adaptive method outputting models that possess outstanding predictive performance while being (locally) optimally structured. Extensive numerical experiments in large-scale modern computer vision, language modeling, and speech tasks show that the proposed RAMDA is efficient and consistently outperforms state of the art for training structured neural network. Unsupervised spoken term discovery using pseudo lexical induction

An unsupervised spoken term discovery task aims to capture the pattern similarities among spoken terms in the absence of annotation. Such an approach is useful for the untranscribed spoken content from low-resource or zero-resource languages. A challenge in the discovery task is to compute the similarities among spoken terms without annotation. Dynamic time warping (DTW) is one of the techniques that computes temporal alignment between two acoustic feature representations of the speech signal without annotation. However, the speech variabilities that arise in natural speech introduce a challenge to the DTW approach. As a result, the performance of the spoken term discovery task was degraded. In this study, we overcome the challenges and improve the performance of the discovery task in three stages. At first, the speaker-independent acoustic feature representation was obtained from the Self Organising Map (SOM) to reduce the variabilities. In the second stage, non-segmental pseudo-labels were generated for the spoken content using context-free grammar. Finally, the spoken term similarities were obtained by grouping the similar sequences using proposed Label Sequence Similarity Mapping and Language modelling algorithms. The performance of the proposed system was measured using the Zero-Speech challenge corpus in terms of matching, clustering and parsing qualities. The experimental results reveal that the proposed approach improves the performance by 34.2% and 22.4% in English and Xitsonga, respectively, across multiple speakers. In addition, the clustering performance of the spoken terms at the word level was improved by 4.2% in English. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

As the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem expands, the need for secure and private communication over public networks becomes increasingly crucial. A fundamental component of this security paradigm is the establishment of a secret session key among IoT devices, enabling the secure transmission of confidential data over the Internet. In this paper, we introduce a Post-Quantum Secure Lightweight Authenticated Lattice-based Key Agreement (PQS-AKA) protocol, specifically developed for the rapidly evolving IoT ecosystem. Traditional Authenticated Key Agreement (AKA) protocols, predominantly based on concepts like Diffie–Hellman or prime factorization, are becoming obsolete due to their vulnerability to quantum computing advancements and their inefficiency in the resource-constrained IoT environment. Current quantum-resistant methods, although leveraging lattice cryptography for security, are impeded by issues such as high certificate management overheads and substantial communication and computational costs. PQS-AKA not only offers a defense against the threats posed by quantum computing through the inherent hardness of lattice problems but also simplifies the process by removing the need for extensive certificate management. The core security strength of our protocol is thoroughly evaluated under the random-natured oracle model, demonstrating its robustness against both present and future quantum computing attacks. Performance evaluations reveal that the proposed protocol offers a significant improvement over existing solutions in terms of efficiency and practicality, making it a viable and secure choice for industrial IoT applications. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

Cascaded liquid crystal polarization grating (LCPG) structure is commonly used to realize two-dimension large angle optical beam steering. In this architecture, different LCPGs have different incident angles. As a liquid crystal half-wave plate (LC HWP) is placed in front of the LCPG to control steering direction, the different incident angles will affect the phase modulation of LC HWP and then, decrease the steering efficiency. In this paper, the steering efficiency of cascaded LCPGs under tilt incidence is considered and a compensation method is proposed to increase the steering efficiency. A simple analysis model is established to calculate the steering efficiency of cascaded LCPG structure for tilt incidence with arbitrary direction. Further, the effect of tilt incidence on the phase modulation of LC HWP is compensated and a simple formula is given to compute the compensation voltage. A validation experiment is performed to verify the proposed method. All the simulated and experimental results indicate that the steering efficiency of cascaded LCPGs can be improved for two-dimension beam scanning.
