For autonomous driving of unmanned vehicles in intelligent transportation systems, multi-vehicle cooperative perception supported by vehicular networks can greatly improve the accuracy and reliability of the perception decisions. Currently, the perception decisions for a single vehicle are mostly provided by neural networks. Therefore, in order to fuse the perception decisions from multiple vehicles, the credibility of the neural network outputs needs to be studied. Among various factors, the environment is one of the most important affecting vehicles' perception decisions. In this paper, we propose a new evaluation criteria for the neural networks used in the perception module of unmanned vehicles. This criterion is termed as Environmental Sensitivity (ES), indicates the sensitivity of the network to environmental changes. We design an algorithm to quantitatively measure the ES value of different perception networks based on the extracted features. Experimental results show that our algorithm can well capture the sensitivity of the network in different environments and the ES values will be helpful to the subsequent decision fusion process.

Regret and cumulative constraint violation analysis for online convex optimization with long term constraints

This paper considers online convex optimization with long term constraints, where constraints can be violated in intermediate rounds, but need to be satisfied in the long run. The cumulative constraint violation is used as the metric to measure constraint violations, which excludes the situation that strictly feasible constraints can compensate the effects of violated constraints. A novel algorithm is first proposed and it achieves an O(Tmax{c,1-c}) bound for static regret and an O(T (1-c)/2) bound for cumulative constraint violation, where c ϵ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter, and thus has improved performance compared with existing results. Both static regret and cumulative constraint violation bounds are reduced to O(log(T )) when the loss functions are strongly convex, which also improves existing results. In order to achieve the optimal regret with respect to any comparator sequence, another algorithm is then proposed and it achieves the optimal O( p T (1 + PT )) regret and an O(√T) cumulative constraint violation, where PT is the path-length of the comparator sequence. Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted communications are expected to become an important part of the next generation mobile communication systems, due to the high mobility of the UAVs. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is regarded as a rosy technology in the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication systems, since it can effectively improve the spectral efficiency. In this paper, we combine the advantages of the UAV-assisted communications and NOMA, and propose a device-to-device (D2D)-enhanced UAV-NOMA network architecture, in which D2D is introduced to increase the file dispatching efficiency. Resource reuse based on spatial reuse is also allowed to further improve the spectral efficiency. Then, we propose a graph-based file dispatching (GFD) protocol to control the interference and minimize the UAV-assisted file dispatching mission time. Simulation results verify the advantages of our proposed D2D-enhanced UAV-NOMA network architecture and the efficiency of our designed GFD protocol.

Path redirection for virtual reality (VR) navigation allows the user to explore a large virtual environment (VE) while the VR application is hosted in a limited physical space. Static mapping redirection methods deform the virtual scene to fit the physical space. The challenge is to deform the virtual scene in a reasonable way, making the distortions friendly to the user’s visual perception. In this paper we propose a feature-guided path redirection method that finds and takes into account the visual features of 3D virtual scenes. In a first offline step, a collection of view-independent and view-dependent visual features of the VE are extracted and stored in a visual feature map. Then, in a second offline step, the navigation path is deformed to fit in the confines of the available physical space through a mass-spring system optimization, according to distortion sensitive factors derived from the visual feature map. Finally, a novel detail preserving rendering algorithm is employed to preserve the original visual detail as the user navigates the VE on the redirected path. We tested our method on several scenes, where our method showed a reduced VE 3D mesh distortion, when compared to the path redirection methods without feature guidance.

Due to the importance and sensitivity of medical data, the security protection and privacy preservation of the Healthcare Internet of Things (IoT) are current research hotspots. However, existing research schemes still suffer from incomplete security properties, imperfect authentication mechanisms, and inadequate privacy preservation. Therefore, this paper presents SECP-AKE, a secure and efficient certificateless-password-based authenticated key exchange protocol for IoT-based smart healthcare, which enables batch authentication, resists physical attacks, and provides strong anonymity. Specifically, using certificateless cryptography, the SECP-AKE protocol enables batch authentication of authorized users and devices while also resolving the key escrow problem. In particular, the SECP-AKE protocol incorporates Physical Unclonable Functions (PUFs) to resist physical attacks, thus enhancing device security and ensuring reliable medical service delivery. Additionally, the design of a pseudonym update mechanism can achieve user unlinkability, thereby providing enhanced privacy preservation. The results from both formal verification using SVO logic and informal security analyses demonstrate that the SECP-AKE protocol is secure and offers more comprehensive security properties. Meanwhile, the use of a well-known automated security verification tool Scyther further evaluates the protocol’s security reliability. Ultimately, comparative experiments on communication overhead and computational overhead demonstrate that the SECP-AKE protocol is efficient and feasible compared to state-of-the-art existing works.

To design an effective multi-objective optimization evolutionary algorithms (MOEA), we need to address the following issues: 1) the sensitivity to the shape of true Pareto front (PF) on decomposition-based MOEAs;2) the loss of diversity due to paying so much attention to the convergence on domination-based MOEAs;3) the curse of dimensionality for many-objective optimization problems on grid-based MOEAs. This paper proposes an MOEA based on space partitioning (MOEA-SP) to address the above issues. In MOEA-SP, subspaces, partitioned by a k-dimensional tree (kd-tree), are sorted according to a bi-indicator criterion defined in this paper. Subspace-oriented and Max-Min selection methods are introduced to increase selection pressure and maintain diversity, respectively. Experimental studies show that MOEA-SP outperforms several compared algorithms on a set of benchmarks. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Bias Temperature Instability (BTI) is one of the dominant CMOS aging mechanisms. It causes time-dependent variation, threatening circuit lifetime reliability. BTI-induced circuit errors are not detectable at the fabrication stage. On-line monitoring schemes are therefore necessary to capture the degradations during the operational time. Traditional aging monitoring techniques exhibit high implementation complexity and low stability. In this paper, we propose a BTI monitoring approach by simply tracking the start-up behavior of SRAM cells. SRAM is a widely used on-chip device in many applications. We study the impact of BTI for SRAM start-up values and age some cells in a manipulated manner. The BTI degradation is evaluated based on the number of SRAM cells starting with a certain value. This technique can be used to estimate the degradation for on-chip logic circuits without introducing additional circuitry, and thus has very low implementation complexity. We use an SRAM array with 1024 cells to estimate the degradations for multiple logic circuits, and show the average mean absolute percentage error as 8.48%. In addition, this technique is robust considering process, voltage and temperature variations.

The judicious design of electromagnetic boundary provides a crucial route to control light-matter interactions, and it is thus fundamental to basic science and practical applications. General design approaches rely on the manipulation of bulk properties of superstrate or substrate and on the modification of boundary geometries. Due to the recent advent of metasurfaces and low-dimensional materials, the boundary can be flexibly featured with a surface conductivity, which can be rather complex but provide an extra degree of freedom to regulate the propagation of light. In this perspective, we denote the boundary with a non-zero surface conductivity as the meta-boundary. The meta-boundaries are categorized into four types, namely isotropic, anisotropic, biisotropic and bianisotropic meta-boundaries, according to the electromagnetic boundary conditions. Accordingly, the latest development for these four kinds of meta-boundaries are reviewed. Finally, an outlook on the research tendency of meta-boundaries is provided, particularly on the manipulation of light-matter interactions by simultaneously exploiting meta-boundaries and metamaterials. © 2022, CC BY.

In recent years, massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) has been regarded as a promising technique in the fifth-generation (5G) communication systems. With the ability of focusing transmission beams on users, massive MIMO has a natural advantage in the field of physical layer security to improve the system secrecy performance. However, in practical mobile systems, the imperfect channel state information (CSI) caused by the channel estimation error and the transmission and processing delay will have a non-negligible impact on the system performance. In this paper, we investigate secure communications in a multi-user massive MIMO-enabled vehicular communication networks. Considering the influence of imperfect CSI on the secrecy performance, we derive a tight asymptotic lower bound of the system secrecy capacity under both perfect and imperfect CSI. Moreover, we further analyze the impact of vehicle speed on the system secrecy performance and propose a channel prediction scheme based on (Long Short-Term Memory) LSTM model to compensate for the negative effects of imperfect CSI, which can improve the system secrecy performance in high mobility scenario. Simulation results show that the imperfect CSI severely reduces the system secrecy capacity, but its negative effects can be effectively alleviated through the designed LSTM-based channel prediction and compensation scheme.
