Medical image registration is vital for disease diagnosis and treatment with its ability to merge diverse informa-tion of images,which may be captured under different times,angles,or *** several surveys have reviewed the development of medical image registration,they have not systematically summarized the existing med-ical image registration *** this end,a comprehensive review of these methods is provided from traditional and deep-learning-based perspectives,aiming to help audiences quickly understand the development of medical image *** particular,we review recent advances in retinal image registration,which has not attracted much *** addition,current challenges in retinal image registration are discussed and insights and prospects for future research provided.

This article introduces a comprehensive approach for designing and analyzing signal integrity in heterogeneous integrated systems that incorporate neuromorphic Darwin chips. The proposed integrated system architecture includes a neuromorphic Darwin chip, digital signal processing unit, microcontroller unit, field programmable gate arrays, and coding and decoding modules to encode and reconstruct analog spiking signals. The study evaluates the encoding module and the heterogeneous integration structure and conducts signal integrity analysis. To achieve optimal signal integrity performance, the article proposes a novel binocular eye diagram analysis technique. This innovative approach guides the encoding algorithm modification and improves the overall system performance. This research is the first to combine joint field-circuit simulation, heterogeneous integration modeling, and signal integrity analysis of the Darwin neuromorphic chip, and it is expected to serve as a valuable reference for future studies on similar systems. © 2022 IEEE.

During the coal seam drilling process, the drill string is subject to compressive deformation, compounded by unpredictable variations in formation hardness and borehole wall friction, leading to challenges in maintaining a stable feeding speed. This paper presents a novel approach by introducing uncertain parameters to describe the effects of formation hardness and borehole wall friction. Drill string axial movement model is modeled as a polyhedral system based on a lumped parameter representation. To meet industrial performance requirements, we design a robust H∞ controller to achieve consistent feeding speed control. Our simulation results demonstrate the controller’s effectiveness in ensuring system stability despite fluctuations in formation hardness and drill string friction. © 2024 IEEE.

Wear is a persistent challenge in industrial applications, stemming from the interaction of numerous complex and interrelated factors. CuZn37Pb2 and AISI 1060 steel are particularly susceptible to wear due to their extensive industrial applications. To address this problem and enhance the scientific literature, it is essential first to understand and analyze the impact of these interconnected factors and their interactions through experimental investigations that consider the maximum number of available factors. This study developed a new wear test tool, machined on a horizontal lathe, to conduct tests under both dry and lubricated conditions. A tribological comparison was made between the lathe test and a tribometer, considering the interplay of various factors. The study examined and compared initial surface roughness, load, sliding speed, wear track diameter, track width, contact temperature, wear loss, and wear rate in relation to the friction coefficient. Experiments were performed at torques ranging from 25 to 100 N, at speeds of 0.30, 0.40, and 0.50 m/s, and with wear track diameters of 4, 6, 8, and 10 mm. The worn surfaces and wear tracks of each sample were analyzed using optical microscopy, XRD patterns, and SEM–EDS. This work investigated the influence of temperature (ranging from 50 to 200 °C) on the friction properties of the two alloys. It was found that the morphological structure of the sample and the type of test significantly impact the tribological response of the surfaces, each interacting uniquely with varying contributions from the tribological parameters. Despite the wear rate calculation error being less than 45.14% in both tests, the findings indicated that the tribological response under ideal laboratory conditions differs from that in real-world environments. Online education has become more popular and effective due to the availability of high-speed internet and technological innovations, which allow people from different locations to access educational resources and opportunities. However, online classes often face challenges such as limited interactivity and display options, which can affect the quality and effectiveness of the online learning experience. In this article, we propose GestureTeach, a new pedagogical paradigm that enables free handwriting interaction and animation generation for online teaching. GestureTeach uses gestures as a natural and intuitive way of interaction, which enhances the teacher's intention expression and the student's engagement. GestureTeach also generates animations from handwritten sketches, which improves the display effects of the interaction and the student's knowledge comprehension. We conducted a two-stage study with 15 teachers and 90 students to evaluate the effectiveness of GestureTeach in facilitating classroom interaction. The results show that GestureTeach is preferred by both teachers and students over traditional online teaching methods and has the potential to transform the online teaching landscape by providing a seamless and interactive experience. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Three-Step Carrier Frequency Offset Estimation Algorithm for Burst-Mode Communications*

A data-aided frequency offset estimation algorithm suited for burst-mode communications is described and analyzed. The proposed algorithm is based on a Pilot symbol assisted modulation (PSAM) frame structure, which consists of regularly spaced pilot symbols and a group of consecutive pilot symbols embedded in. Firstly, an initial estimate based on consecutive pilot symbols is generated for reducing the phase ambiguity. Secondly, based on both spaced and consecutive pilot symbols, fine preliminary estimates are generated to improve estimation accuracy. Lastly, the final estimate is obtained by combining the fine preliminary estimates with the initial. This three-step algorithm is shown to provide high estimation accuracy close to those of FFT-based algorithm at low Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). In addition, it is suitable for high carrier frequency offset cases.

High-resolution multispectral (HRMS) images combine spatial and spectral information originating from panchromatic (PAN) and reduced-resolution multispectral (LRMS) images. Pansharpening performs well and is widely used to obtain HRMS images. However, most pansharpening approaches determine the ratio of PAN and LRMS images through direct interpolation, which may introduce artifacts and distort the color of the fused results. To address this issue, an unsupervised progressive pansharpening framework, MSBANet, is proposed, which adopts a multistage fusion strategy. Each stage contains an attention interactive extraction module (AIEM) and a multiscale bilateral fusion module (MBFM). The AIEM extracts spatial and spectral features from input images and captures the correlations between features. The MBFM can efficiently integrate information from the AIEM and improve MSBANet context awareness. We design a hybrid loss function that enhances the ability of the fusion network to store spectral and texture details. In qualitative and quantitative experimental studies on four datasets, MSBANet outperformed state-of-the-art pansharpening techniques. The code will be released. © 2024 IEEE.
