Determining the amount of tool flank wear (TFW) of a tool during operation is an important and cost-sensitive factor for maintaining the efficiency of the machine and product standards in Industry 4.0. Therefore, a variety of predictive analysis tools have been developed in this regard, with the objective of taking corrective action quickly and efficiently. In this paper, we present a TFW amount estimating method via plotting vibration generated during the cutting process on big data visualization and density cluster generation method known as Graphical Knowledge Unit (GKU). GKU generates density clusters by incrementing the RGB color values in the intersected markers due to data overlapping. In our previous work, the TFW amount of a cutting tool attached to a computer Numerical Control (CNC) turning machine was checked. A workpiece of grey cast iron with an initial outer diameter of 110 mm was cut until it reached 60 mm. This process was repeated until the TFW amount, which was measured according to ISO 4288, met the recommended value range (0.3 ± 0.005 mm). After each cut, TFW amount and the surface roughness were measured following ISO 4288. Vibration was recorded using a triaxial accelerometer attached to the tool shank of the turning machine. In the present work, out of 29 cutting circles, vibration along the x-axis against vibration along the y-axis of selected cuttings were plotted using GKU. The density of the center of the plot (fixed point, FP) and the density of the highest density (dynamic point, DP) were measured using the color values of pixels as an index. The results showed a very strong linear correlation (0.95) between the TFW amount and vibration data density projected via pixel color values at FP. This shows that processing of vibration with GKU is a promising method to estimate TFW amount. © 2023 IEEE.

Neuromorphic vision sensors have been extremely beneficial in developing energy-efficient intelligent systems for robotics and privacy-preserving security *** is a dire need for devices to mimic the retina's photoreceptors that encode the light illumination into a sequence of spikes to develop such ***,we develop a hybrid perovskite-based flexible photoreceptor whose capacitance changes proportionally to the light intensity mimicking the retina's rod cells,paving the way for developing an efficient artificial retina *** proposed device constitutes a hybrid nanocomposite of perovskites(methyl-ammonium lead bromide)and the ferroelectric terpolymer(polyvinylidene fluoride trifluoroethylene-chlorofluoroethylene).A metal-insulator-metal type capacitor with the prepared composite exhibits the unique and photosensitive capacitive behavior at various light intensities in the visible light *** proposed photoreceptor mimics the spectral sensitivity curve of human photopic *** hybrid nanocomposite is stable in ambient air for 129 weeks,with no observable degradation of the composite due to the encapsulation of hybrid perovskites in the hydrophobic *** functionality of the proposed photoreceptor to recognize handwritten digits(MNIST)dataset using an unsupervised trained spiking neural network with 72.05%recognition accuracy is *** demonstration proves the potential of the proposed sensor for neuromorphic vision applications.

A disease is a distinct abnormal state that significantly affects the functioning of all or part of an individual and is not caused by external harm. Diseases are frequently understood as medical conditions connected with distinct indications and symptoms. According to a fairly wide categorization, diseases can also be categorized as mental disorders, deficient diseases, genetic diseases, degenerative diseases, self-inflicted diseases, infectious diseases, non-infectious diseases, social diseases, and physical diseases. Prevention of the diseases is of multiple instances. Primary prevention seeks to prevent illness or harm before it ever happens. Secondary prevention tries to lessen the effect of an illness or damage that has already happened. This is done through diagnosing and treating illness or injury as soon as feasible to stop or delay its course, supporting personal ways to avoid recurrence or reinjury, and implementing programs to restore individuals to their previous health and function to prevent long-term difficulties. Tertiary prevention tries to lessen the impact of a continuing sickness or injury that has enduring repercussions. Diagnosis of the disease at an earlier stage is important for the treatment of the disease. Hence, in this study, deep learning algorithms, such as VGG16, EfficientNetB4, and ResNet, are utilized to diagnose various diseases, such as Alzheimer's, brain tumors, skin diseases, and lung diseases. Chest X-rays, MRI scans, CT scans, and skin lesions are used to diagnose the mentioned diseases. Transfer learning algorithms, such as VGG16, VGG19, ResNet, InceptionV3, and EfficientNetB4, are utilized to categorize various diseases. EfficientNetB4 with the learning rate annealing, having obtained an accuracy of 94.04% on the test dataset, is observed. As a consequence, we observed that every network has unique particular skills on the multi-disease dataset, which includes chest X-rays, MRI scans, etc., © The Author(s) 2024.

We introduce and study reconfiguration problems for (internally) vertex-disjoint shortest paths: Given two tuples of internally vertex-disjoint shortest paths for fixed terminal pairs in an unweighted graph, we are asked to determine whether one tuple can be transformed into the other by exchanging a single vertex of one shortest path in the tuple at a time, so that all intermediate results remain tuples of internally vertex-disjoint shortest paths. We also study the shortest variant of the problem, that is, we wish to minimize the number of vertex-exchange steps required for such a transformation, if exists. These problems generalize the well-studied Shortest Path Reconfiguration problem. In this paper, we analyze the complexity of these problems from the viewpoint of graph classes, and give some interesting contrast. © 2024, Brown University. All rights reserved.

Visual Place Recognition (VPR) is a crucial task in robotics and autonomous driving, where it identifies the geographic location of a query image by matching it with a reference database. VPR faces significant challenges, including appearance variations due to lighting, occlusion, weather, and seasonal changes, alongside the need for real-time processing under low computational cost and latency. To address these challenges, we introduce Spiking Neural Networks (SNN) into the VPR task, specifically focusing on the feature aggregation component. SNN, with their event-driven nature, offer advantages in computational efficiency and energy consumption, making them well-suited for energy-constrained environments such as drones. Our approach transforms the feature aggregation stage of VPR into a spiking, event-driven mechanism, which maintains high recall performance while integrating seamlessly with traditional ANN-based methods. Experimental results demonstrate that our SNN-based method effectively maintains high recall performance, validating its potential in autonomous driving and other related applications.

The Fake news becomes a more critical issue nowadays, it may reduce the trust of the public about the particular information. This project focuses on the advancement of fake news detection model using machine learning. The main goal of this project is to develop, analyze a model that can effectively classify the news articles based on their Subject or contents. Natural preprocessing Algorithm and features such as Stemming, Tokenization, Stop word and TF-IDF Vectorization are used to train the machine learning model. Then the Machine learning Algorithms likeLogistic Regression and Random Forest are used to classifying the dataset which gives 98% accuracy and 99% of accuracy score. For this Project we have taken a dataset of 22413 Real news and 23481 Fake News from the online resources. This model has a potential to reduce the impact of fake news by grant the promotion of accurate and reliable information in a society. © 2024 IEEE.

This study proposes a novel ensemble approach of RF Regression, ANNs, and ARIMA for time series forecasting. To address the objectives of the present research, sensitive and restricted crime data obtained from the Mumbai police has been used. It covers a number of years and entails detailed records of various categories of offenses that have been committed in the area monthly. Several techniques of data preprocessing are applied to ensure that the data in the given set is fit to train the model and they include data cleaning, scaling, and handling of missing values. The hybrid ANN-ARIMA-RF approach captures the special advantages of each component technology: ANNs are employed for nonlinear patterns while ARIMA is employed for the linear patterns in residuals and RF is applied on both models outputs. The hybrid of ARIMA and ANN outperforms the individual ARIMA and ANN models when applied to the exclusive crime dataset to forecast future crime rates. This is because the developed model improves the prediction accuracy as shown by the lowest Mean Absolute Percentage Error. This study differs from other works due to the utilization of a unique dataset and the integration of several forecasting methods that improve upon the individual ones.

During the coal seam drilling process, the drill string is subject to compressive deformation, compounded by unpredictable variations in formation hardness and borehole wall friction, leading to challenges in maintaining a stable feeding speed. This paper presents a novel approach by introducing uncertain parameters to describe the effects of formation hardness and borehole wall friction. Drill string axial movement model is modeled as a polyhedral system based on a lumped parameter representation. To meet industrial performance requirements, we design a robust H∞ controller to achieve consistent feeding speed control. Our simulation results demonstrate the controller’s effectiveness in ensuring system stability despite fluctuations in formation hardness and drill string friction. © 2024 IEEE.

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) video transmission has been extensively applied in many crucial fields. However, the problem of designing a rate-distortion (R-D) model for UAV video transmission, which is essential for theoretical analysis of video coding and optimization of video transmission quality, is under-studied. The designed R-D model is desired to be simple, accurate, and generic owing to the limited capability of the UAV. Observing the key role of transformed residuals in the R-D model, this paper elaborately discusses the modeling of the transformed residual distribution and proposes an estimation algorithm to estimate the statistical parameter of the distribution. Specifically, considering the stringent requirements for low complexity and high generalization capability, we first design a linear parameter estimator by mining and analyzing UAV video statistical characteristics. Further, we develop a bias update scheme to improve the accuracy of the estimator. Test results on multiple real video sequences taken by UAVs show that the proposed estimation algorithm is more accurate than benchmarks. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, to expand a control bandwidth of AC servo motor, a new current vector control considering an output delay of PWM Inverter is proposed. The proposed current control is a I-P control with an additional feedback gain, which is based on an extended state feedback consisted from a d-q motor model, the output delay of PWM inverter and an integrator of ACR. In addition, the proposed method is easy to implement to the existing AC servo system. The effectiveness of proposed method is validated in a computer simulation and an experiments using a 3.7 kW class motor test bench. In the condition that a cut-off frequency of ACR is close to a carrier frequency, the simulation results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at the higher cut-off frequency. Moreover, the experimental results show that the proposed method dramatically improves the current response at each operating point. From the results, the proposed method is effective to the expand the bandwidth of AC servo motor.
