This paper executes a comparative analysis between alternative-pole flux-switching and inter-modular biased-flux permanent magnet (PM) motors. Despite their close structural similarities, the former puts magnets not only between stator modules, but also close to the armature windings. However, the inter-modular PM (IMPM) motor only occupies spaces between stator modules. This type of occupation allows this structure to provide a safe operation point for PMs. Not considering the PM's recoil-phenomenon, the torque density of the IMPM motor is not as significant as the alternative-pole flux-switching PM (AP-FSPM) motor. This is because of the four-operating mode of the AP-FSPM structure which enables it to increase the torque density by utilizing the PMs in every moment of the operation. But, when the demagnetization of the AP-FSPM's PMs is taken into account, the torque density and torque per PM values of the AP-FSPM structure plummets. A complete full-load demagnetization analysis is done in order to get a better understanding of how the performance of the IMPM structure supersedes the AP-FSPM structure. 2D finite element analysis is used to extract the most important indexes of both topologies. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper mainly discusses two kinds of coupled reaction-diffusion neural networks (CRNN) under topology attacks, that is, the cases with multistate couplings and with multiple spatial-diffusion couplings. On one hand, by adopting state feedback control scheme, the problem of the lag synchronization for the multistate coupled CRNN is addressed. Moreover, the influences of external disturbances for the lag synchronization of the CRNN with multistate couplings are also taken into consideration. On the other hand, several lag and lag H∞ synchronization conditions for CRNN with multiple spatial-diffusion couplings are derived under the help of the Kronecker product and the state feedback control method. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to verify the correctness of the derived criteria. © 2014 IEEE.

Intracerebral hemorrhage is a disease with high fatality rate, and the expansion of hematoma caused by hemorrhage is one of the factors leading to poor prognosis. Fast and accurate segmentation of the contours of cerebral hematoma will help doctors to make diagnosis to a large extent. In order to solve the problem of insufficient precision of U-net segmentation, pixel image segmentation based on U-net and clustering is proposed. The CT images are divided into multiple channels by preprocessing, and on this basis, the cluster is processed twice, and then they enter the improved U-net network respectively. Finally, multiple results are fused to obtain the final segmentation result.

Currently, online project-based learning is one of the methodologies used in university student assessment. Furthermore, this study is supported by several factors and current conditions applied to learning, such as the pandemic situation where all learning activities and assignments are carried out online and also the many applications of online project-based learning as a learning method to increase students' knowledges and abilities. The purpose of this study is to see how flow experience perception, self-efficacy, product evaluation, and learning motivation affect online PjBL effectiveness at a private university in Jakarta to improve sustain ability education. We surveyed 62 active undergraduate students with online PjBL experience and interviewed one of these five responders from various majors for more information. Flow experience perception, self-efficacy, product evaluation, and learning motivation all have a positive influence on online PjBL, according to multiple linier regression. © 2022 IEEE.

IoT is increasingly being used in different areas of society. IoT is used in society by collecting values acquired by sensor devices through networks and analysing the data. IoT software is needed to use the IoT, but efficient software development methods are desired because software for an increasingly complex society tends to become more complex. This research aims to improve the efficiency of IoT software and develop an intuitive method for developing IoT *** paper proposes a development methodology that combines a data-flow-based programming approach with a procedural programming language. When the focus is on data, data flow programming is intuitive and efficient. On the other hand, when the focus is on data processing, it is better to use a procedural programming language because data is processed sequentially[1].In the hybrid IoT programming environment proposed in this paper, the code of a procedural programming language is generated from the description by data flow programming, and the program is executed by a micro *** products of this research are available as open source software[2], [3].

Memristor stateful logic is an effective way to achieve the real sense of in-memory computing in memristor-based crossbar array (MCBA). However, cascading stateful logic gates in MCBA is a time-consuming sequential process comparing to the space-wise CMOS combinational logic circuit. It is essential to develop the automatic synthesis tool to achieve complex combinatorial logic function with less in-memory stateful logic gates. In this paper, a logic synthesis process based on several stateful logic gates (LOSSS) is achieved to enhance in-memory computing efficiency of the scene of single row/column-oriented stateful logic computing. First, multiply compatible two/one-input PMR-type stateful logic gates with the functions of NOR, OR and NOT are employed in the initial function synthesis to obtain a good start-point netlist. Then, a post-process stage is added in the flow to reduce the number of the gates of the netlist by developing an automated optimization algorithm of replacing some specific gate groups as the composite gates of IMP and ONOR with consideration of input overwritten. Finally, an improved mapping process is employed to cascade these stateful logic gates in a single row of the crossbar array with less device occupation. Comparing to the standard SIMPLER-MAGIC, LOSSS achieves arithmetic mean improvements of over 23% in performance, and over 34% in effective lifetime under the EPFL benchmark suit which is also better than the results reported by the state-of-art MAGIC synthesis process (X-MAGIC).

Operations and Maintenance (O&M) cost optimization in the nuclear energy industry is an imperative task for developing sustainable systems and efficient renewable technologies. We present a modular probabilistic framework for addressing maintenance scheduling challenges for small modular nuclear reactors using a Dynamic Bayesian Network (DBN) approach that monitors fatigue and performance in multiple subsystems of the reactors and provides a probabilistic assessment for potential failure events. The DBN framework fuses information from potential digital twins that assimilate real time data from several sensors with different time granularities in order to monitor and update thecurrentstate of knowledge aboutthestatus of several fatigue or performance criteria. Comprised of multi-modal digital twins (empirical, data- and physics-based twins), this DBN serves as a predictive framework forecasting the future state of specific reactor subsystems and enhancing decision-making capabilities associated with preventing system failure and minimizing the time and cost of maintenance events. The work presented in this paper is a holistic approach for monitoring and safeguarding complex, multi-component engineering systems where maintenance scheduling is critical and does not restrict itself to nuclear environments. This paper examines the core principles and design approaches that define Human-Centric AI (HCAI) and the enhancement of human-machine collaborations with aligning goals with Industry 5.0. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing studies, this paper systematically determines the key challenges of harmonizing HCAI principles with the regulatory demands of Industry 5.0, using a PRISMA chart to select relevant studies from four databases. The study highlighted the major global regulatory frameworks governing AI and how they address the ethical, legal, and social challenges HCAI poses. This work aims to inspire further exploration and development in assessing the potential benefits and challenges of integrating Human-Centric AI into Industry 5.0 by identifying research gaps and proposing future study areas.

Excess Mean Squared Error of Empirical Bayes Estimators

Empirical Bayes estimators are based on minimizing the average risk with the hyper-parameters in the weighting function being estimated from observed data. The performance of an empirical Bayes estimator is typically evaluated by its mean squared error (MSE). However, the explicit expression for its MSE is generally unavailable for finite sample sizes. To address this issue, we define a high-order analytical criterion: the excess MSE. It quantifies the performance difference between the maximum likelihood and empirical Bayes estimators. An explicit expression for the excess MSE of an empirical Bayes estimator employing a general data-dependent hyper-parameter estimator is derived. As specific instances, we provide excess MSE expressions for kernel-based regularized estimators using the scaled empirical Bayes, Stein’s unbiased risk estimation, and generalized cross-validation hyper-parameter estimators. Moreover, we propose a modification to the excess MSE expressions for regularized estimators for moderate sample sizes and show its improvement on accuracy in numerical simulations.
