As an affordable and convenient eye scan, fundus photography holds the potential for preventing vision impairment, especially in resource-limited regions. However, fundus image degradation is common under intricate imaging environments, impacting following diagnosis and treatment. Consequently, image quality assessment (IQA) and enhancement (IQE) are essential for ensuring the clinical value and reliability of fundus images. While existing reviews offer some overview of this field, a comprehensive analysis of the interplay between IQA and IQE, along with their clinical deployment challenges, is lacking. This paper addresses this gap by providing a thorough review of fundus IQA and IQE algorithms, research advancements, and practical applications. We outline the fundamentals of the fundus photography imaging system and the associated interferences, and then systematically summarize the paradigms in fundus IQA and IQE. Furthermore, we discuss the practical challenges and solutions in deploying IQA and IQE, as well as offer insights into potential future research directions. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. Edge AIBench 2.0: A scalable autonomous vehicle benchmark for IoT–Edge–Cloud systems

Many emerging IoT–Edge–Cloud computing systems are not yet implemented or are too confidential to share the code or even tricky to replicate its execution environment, and hence their benchmarking is very challenging. This paper uses autonomous vehicles as a typical scenario to build the first benchmark for IoT–Edge–Cloud systems. We propose a set of distilling rules for replicating autonomous vehicle scenarios to extract critical tasks with intertwined interactions. The essential system-level and component-level characteristics are captured while the system complexity is reduced significantly so that users can quickly evaluate and pinpoint the system and component bottlenecks. Also, we implement a scalable architecture through which users can assess the systems with different sizes of workloads. We conduct several experiments to measure the performance. After testing two thousand autonomous vehicle task requests, we identify the bottleneck modules in autonomous vehicle scenarios and analyze their hotspot functions. The experiment results show that the lane-keeping task is the slowest execution module, with a tail latency of 77.49 ms for the 99th percentile latency. We hope this scenario benchmark will be helpful for Autonomous Vehicles and even IoT–edge–Cloud research. Learning-based approaches have shown their great potential to adapt themselves to various environments (e.g., PCC and Sprout). Unfortunately, they do not consistently achieve superior QoS across different network conditions and configurations in mobile networks. Furthermore, although they can offer multiple application objectives by adjusting a preference weight vector, it is challenging for users to accurately express an application objective with a weight vector. In this work, we argue that, if configured correctly, the delay-based TCP scheme can outperform learned ones, and allow users to directly specify their objectives. To this end, we propose Post-QoS Analysis (PQSA), a data-driven framework that trains the key QoS-impacting parameters of the scheme to capture the statistical correlations between QoS objectives, network conditions, and configurations, thereby determining the optimal parameter-set that meets the user-defined QoS objective under different network conditions and configurations. To support this, we enhance conventional delay-based TCP design to develop a Generalized TCP-like Rate controller (GR) by exporting three key parameters. Extensive evaluations show that PQSA-optimized GR outperforms existing schemes in different scenarios consistently, and enables service providers to control the QoS flexibly.

With the rapid development of integrated circuit manufacturing processes, soft errors have emerged as a pivotal factor that influences circuit reliability. This paper endeavors to investigate the rapid estimation of the impact of the single event upset (SEU) on the logic behaviors of flip-flops in a circuit using machine learning methods. A major challenge currently faced when applying machine learning methods for SEU evaluation is the absence of publicly available circuit datasets. Therefore, this paper employs the fault injection method to acquire circuit data such as soft error sensitivity. Subsequently, it models the gate-level netlist and integrates the netlist models with the acquired data to construct a dataset. Finally, a model based on graph at-tention network (GAT) is developed and we use the leave-one-out cross validation method to evaluate the performance. Compared to neural network methods skilled at handling structured data, the experimental results indicate that the method proposed in this paper has better predictive performance. It achieves an average absolute error of 0.064, representing a 43.46 % improvement over the baseline.

Cervical cancer is screened by pap smear methodology for detection and classification *** smear images of the cervical region are employed to detect and classify the abnormality of cervical *** this paper,we proposed the first system that it ables to classify the pap smear images into a seven classes *** smear images are exploited to design a computer-aided diagnoses system to classify the abnormality in cervical images *** features that have been extracted using ResNet101 are employed to discriminate seven classes of images in Support Vector Machine(SVM)*** success of this proposed system in distinguishing between the levels of normal cases with 100%accuracy and 100%*** top of that,it can distinguish between normal and abnormal cases with an accuracy of 100%.The high level of abnormality is then studied and classified with a high *** the other hand,the low level of abnormality is studied separately and classified into two classes,mild and moderate dysplasia,with∼92%*** proposed system is a built-in cascading manner with five models of polynomial(SVM)*** overall accuracy in training for all cases is 100%,while the overall test for all seven classes is around 92%in the test phase and overall accuracy reaches 97.3%.The proposed system facilitates the process of detection and classification of cervical cells in pap smear images and leads to early diagnosis of cervical cancer,which may lead to an increase in the survival rate in women.

The successful execution of Configure, Price, Quote (CPQ) protocols is of utmost importance for businesses that handle intricate product portfolios within their sales processes. The objective of these approaches is to optimise the generation of competitive quotations by leveraging data from diverse business systems, leading to a decrease in processing time and enhancement of operational efficiency. Salesforce's Industries CPQ for Communications Cloud, previously referred to as Vlocity CPQ, assumes a crucial function within the Salesforce platform by facilitating the automation of the quotation creation process for sales teams. Designed specifically for the communications industry, this solution enables communications service providers (CSPs) to effectively provide a wide array of products and services to their customers in a streamlined manner. By implementing Industries CPQ, Communication Service Providers (CSPs) have the potential to save expenses associated with customisation and maintenance, while also accelerating their time-to-market. In order to assess the practical ramifications of Salesforce Industries CPQ, the researcher intends to deploy the aforementioned system within ABC Insurance Company. The objective of the study is to evaluate the program's influence on sales efficiency and profitability by conducting interviews with a targeted cohort of employees who have employed the software in their sales endeavours. In the face of problems such as welding of small objects or too small welding space, an application method of welding small plane intersecting objects based on point laser was proposed. The demonstration points pointing to different planes were preset, and the laser displacement sensor was driven to measure the physical value by simulating the sharp workpiece of the welding gun. Multiple projections at different locations were made on a certain plane of the welding object, so as to ensure that the laser points were not collinear and obtain the laser point parameter set. The plane equation was solved respectively according to the planes pointed by different demonstration points, and a geometric model was built. The equation of the intersecting line between the planes in the welding object was calculated. The points on the line were obtained as the welding start points. The workpiece tip was controlled to move along the intersection direction by the mechanical arm, so as to achieve the weld effect. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Bipolar medium-voltage dc (MVDC) distribution systems are of great interests nowadays due to its high availability and reliability. A bipolar MVDC grid can be established by the installation of power-balancers or directly by converters with inherent bipolar operation capability to avoid the extra cost and volume. Therefore, this paper proposes a modular multilevel dc-dc converter (MMDC) with inherent bipolar operation capability for the interconnection of bipolar MVDC grids and LVDC girds. Considering that the MMDC is normally only capable of operating with monopole MVDC distribution systems due to the symmetric structure and operation scheme, a center-Tapped high-frequency interface transformer is employed on the MV side of the MMDC. Based on the concept of the flux dc-bias cancellation, a dedicated operation method is proposed, whereby the power flows of the two MVDC poles can be regulated independently with a simple control scheme, and no penalty of increased current rating is imposed on the semiconductor devices or the interface transformer compared to the conventional MMDC with monopole operation. Additionally, the MMDC can realize single-pole operation in case one pole is faulty and deliver at least 50% of the rated power capacity, which significantly enhance the reliability and availability of the power delivery. The validity of the proposed bipolar operation scheme of the MMDC has been verified by both simulations and experiments with a down-scale prototype. © 2017 CPSS.

In this paper, a deep residual network based on convolutional block attention module (CBAM) is proposed, which is utilized for feature extraction of partially occluded face expression data. The proposed method overcomes the problem of localized occlusion face feature extraction by focusing on the regions and channels containing important information in the occluded face data through CBAM. Multi-task cascaded convolutional networks (MTCNN) are firstly utilized to localize the key regions of face emotion, and then deep emotion features are extracted by CBAM-ResNet network. The final emotion labels are generated. The effectiveness of this paper's method is verified on the RAF-DB dataset and the occluded CK+ dataset. The experimental accuracy in the RAF-DB dataset is 76.3%, which is 3.74% and 1.64% higher than the accuracy produced by the method of RGBT, and the WLS-RF, respectively. Application experiments are carried out in the real teaching scenario, which verifies the applicability of the algorithm in the real teaching scene. © 2023 IEEE.
