Multimodal information-based broad and deep learning model（MIBDL） for emotion understanding is proposed, in which facial expression and body gesture are used to achieve emotional states recognition for emotion understanding. It aims to understand coexistence multimodal information in human-robot interaction by using different processing methods of deep network and broad network, which obtains the features of depth and width dimensions. Moreover, random mapping in the initial broad learning network could cause information loss and its shallow layer network is difficult to cope with complex tasks. To address this problem, we use principal component analysis to generate the nodes of the broad learning, and the stacked broad learning network is adapted to make it easier for the existing broad learning networks to cope with complex tasks by creating deep variations of the existing network. To verify the effectiveness of the proposal, experiments completed on benchmark database of spontaneous emotion expressions are developed, and experimental results show that the proposal outperforms the state-of-theart methods. According to the simulation experiments on the FABO database, by using the proposed method, the multimodal recognition rate is 17,54%, 1.24%, and 0.23% higher than those of the temporal normalized motion and appearance features（TN）,the multi-channel CNN（MCCNN）, and the hierarchical classification fusion strategy（HCFS）, respectively.

systems of oscillators whose internal phases and spatial dynamics are coupled, swarmalators, present diverse collective behaviors which in some cases lead to explosive synchronization in a finite population as a function of the coupling parameter between internal phases. Near the synchronization transition, the phase energy of the particles is represented by the XY model, and they undergo a transition which can be of the first order or the second depending on the distribution of natural frequencies of their internal dynamics. The first-order transition is obtained after an intermediate state (static wings phase wave state) from which the nodes, in cascade over time, achieve complete phase synchronization at a precise value of the coupling constant. For a particular case of natural frequencies distribution, a new phenomenon, the rotational splintered phase wave state, is observed and leads progressively to synchronization through clusters switching alternatively from one to two and for which the frequency decreases as the phase coupling increases.

Remote sensing scene classification, a fundamental task in remote image analysis, has obtained rapid progress due to the powerful capabilities of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). Achieving precise classification performance heavily relies on the feature extraction capacity of the network. However, due to the large variation and severe distortion within the images, extracting robust feature representations is necessary but challenging. Self-distillation could enhance the shallow layers by providing stronger gradients and more accurate supervision from deeper layers, thereby promoting the extraction of spatially detailed features. Nonetheless, due to the limited capacity of shallow layers to learn truly valuable knowledge, shallow layer features can be viewed as the noisy version of deep layer features and contain more disruptive factors, which significantly impedes the effectiveness of self-distillation. To address this issue, in this paper, we establish the Diffusion Self-Distillation Network (DSDNet), which incorporates the conditional diffusion denoising model into the self-distillation framework. Specifically, DSDNet filters noise from shallow features through the diffusion denoising process, enabling more precise and accurate distillation between the refined student features and the teacher features. Extensive experiments on four challenging remote sensing datasets emonstrate that the proposed DSDNet achieves significant performance improvements over various backbone networks with negligible increases in parameters, delivering state-of-the-art classification performance. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems are often opaque in nature, making it difficult to understand the region-of-interest in the input for the predictions. This creates a challenge in convincing people who rely on traditional methods to trust the outputs of automated systems. This study presents a novel framework based on Integrated Gradients (IG) with a U-Net to interpret multivariate, spatio-temporal input sequences for precipitation nowcasting. We utilize Integrated gradients methods to explain the predictions made by a deep learning model for precipitation nowcasting, which takes a multi-image sequence as its input. We use the Meteonet dataset by MeteoFrance and form it into a spatio-temporal multivariate dataset consisting of rain radar, satellite, and wind images to predict rainfall 30 minutes ahead. We employ the U-Net model and evaluate the model's explainability using Integrated gradients. The resulting system achieves an F1 score of 0.760 and a Critical Success Index of 0.613 on an unseen 2018 test set, matching state-of-the-art radar-only baselines while providing pixel-level attributions. Our results help to explain the reasons behind the predictions. The obtained visual representation offers potential explanations for the classification of spatio-temporal or multivariate datasets. Additionally, this study provides a comparative analysis of the level of contribution of each image in the input sequence to the final result. Removing the eight least-important frames identified by IG reduces the input by 73%, yet preserves performance (F1 = 0.759 vs 0.760). Consequently, the proposed approach shows its usability in dimensionality reduction, enhancing the interpretability and efficiency of the predictive model.

The coronavirus first outbreak in Wuhan city of China by December 2019. Due to its highly contagious power, they spread promptly in the four continents. Moreover, it devastating our daily lives and cause huge economic damage. Therefore, it is urgent to detect the positive cases at the earliest and put then under isolation. Automatic virus detection using Machine Learning will be a valuable contribution to prevent the spread of this epidemic. The purpose of this paper is to present short reviews on the coronavirus detection. In reviewing the existing works, we summarized and compared some related works performed on a collection of CT and X-ray images provided from infected patients. We conclude the paper with some discussions on how computer vision can response to urgent need to contribute in pandemics and to investigate many aspects of new viral replication and pathogenesis. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper discusses the issue of multi-beam forming for ground station (GS) in LEO satellite communication system. A store-load phased array structure is proposed, which doesn’t require complicated real-time computation. Meanwhile, for generating the pre-stored array pattern, a synthesis approach of array pattern for multi-beam is proposed. Based on a reference pattern designed by using Chebyshev method, the second-order cone programming (SOCP) constraint is applied to obtain optimized array patterns. Numerical simulations have been conducted in our unified platform containing Matlab and SeDuMi tool. The results show that the proposed approach can effectively synthesize array pattern with two beams and keep constant beamwidth at different directions and frequencies.

This research develops an artificial intelligence-based model to predict the next deceptive movement of athletes by analyzing video sequences of previous movements. Utilizing advanced deep neural network models, we analyze deceptive movements to forecast the next move, with a practical application on the deceptive movements of a professional cricket player. The model employs machine learning techniques such as Random Forest (RF), Decision Trees (DT), and K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) to enhance prediction accuracy. Achieving up to 70 % accuracy, this model rivals human capability, as even highly skilled players can easily fall for deceptive actions. The ability to predict deceptive movements sets humans apart from many intelligent creatures, allowing athletes to avoid predictable actions and gain an edge in various sports. This study applies this concept to cricket, leveraging video data to improve training methods. The results highlight the potential of artificial intelligence in revolutionizing training and performance optimization in sports. © 2025 The Authors

Joint Detection and Embedding (JDE) trackers have demonstrated excellent performance in Multi-Object Tracking (MOT) tasks by incorporating the extraction of appearance features as auxiliary tasks through embedding Re-Identification task (ReID) into the detector, achieving a balance between inference speed and tracking performance. However, solving the competition between the detector and the feature extractor has always been a challenge. Meanwhile, the issue of directly embedding the ReID task into MOT has remained unresolved. The lack of high discriminability in appearance features results in their limited utility. In this paper, a new learning approach using cross-correlation to capture temporal information of objects is proposed. The feature extraction network is no longer trained solely on appearance features from each frame but learns richer motion features by utilizing feature heatmaps from consecutive frames, which addresses the challenge of inter-class feature similarity. Furthermore, our learning approach is applied to a more lightweight feature extraction network, and treat the feature matching scores as strong cues rather than auxiliary cues, with an appropriate weight calculation to reflect the compatibility between our obtained features and the MOT task. Our tracker, named TCBTrack, achieves state-of-the-art performance on multiple public benchmarks, i.e., MOT17, MOT20, and DanceTrack datasets. Specifically, on the DanceTrack test set, we achieve 56.8 HOTA, 58.1 IDF1 and 92.5 MOTA, making it the best online tracker capable of achieving real-time performance. Comparative evaluations with other trackers prove that our tracker achieves the best balance between speed, robustness and accuracy. Code is available at https://***/yfzhang1214/TCBTrack.
