This paper presents an algorithm that decomposes an arbitrary set F of multivariate polynomials involving parameters into finitely many sets Gi of (lexicographical) Gröbner bases G ij such that associated with each Gi there is a system Ai of parametric constraints, all the Ai's partition the parameter space, all the Gij's in each Gi remain Gröbner bases under specialization of the parameters satisfying the constraints in Ai, and for each i the Gröbner bases Gij together with their corresponding W-characteristic sets form a normal characteristic decomposition of F. The sets of Gröbner bases computed by the algorithm provide a comprehensive characteristic decomposition of F that is structure-invariant under the associated constraints and possesses many algebraic and geometric properties, including most of the notable properties on comprehensive Gröbner systems and comprehensive triangular decomposition. Some of these properties are highlighted in the paper and advantages of the proposed algorithm are discussed briefly from the aspects of methodological simplicity and computational performance using illustrative examples and preliminary experiments. © 2021 ACM.

Event Extraction bridges the gap between text and event signals. Based on the assumption of trigger-argument dependency, existing approaches have achieved state-of-the-art performance with expert-designed templates or complicated decoding constraints. In this paper, for the first time we introduce the prompt-based learning strategy to the domain of Event Extraction, which empowers the automatic exploitation of label semantics on both input and output sides. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed generative method, we conduct extensive experiments with 11 diverse baselines. Empirical results show that, in terms of F1 score on Argument Extraction, our simple architecture is stronger than any other generative counterpart and even competitive with algorithms that require template engineering. Regarding the measure of recall, it sets new overall records for both Argument and Trigger Extractions. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is the first to apply IoT technologies to transform the popular Mahjong game into a Digital Mahjong System (DMS) for digitally performing cognitive assessments. People have started exploring digital cognitive assessment tools for better objectivity and simplification. However, most of these tools are not friendly for older adults. This paper aims to address this issue by integrating IoT technologies with Mahjong to make cognitive assessment simpler and more engaging for older adults. DMS has the following features: 1) integrating motion tracking devices into Mahjong tiles and transferring them into Digital Mahjong Tiles (DMTs), which can precisely capture their moving trajectory during the assessment, 2) using a Near Field Communication reader to configure DMT’s primary data, 3) supporting Over-The-Air Device Firmware Update that can be done remotely via Bluetooth, and 4) developing a charging base that can charge 16 DMTs simultaneously using Qi wireless charging standard. With further testing, the DMS has the potential to become a digital platform to implement and test various cognitive assessment tools integrating Mahjong elements. © 2022, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A New Method for Quantifying Workload of Drivers and Application in Analyzing Stabilization Time after Critical Events in Varying Automation Levels

The workload of drivers increases rapidly after the critical events and the period of time for workload to stabilize is worthy to investigate due to the close relationship between the workload and driving performance of drivers. It is yet unclear if the stabilization time of drivers varies across the different automation levels. In previous studies, a number of measurements have been utilized in evaluating the workload of drivers while most of the existing methods have limitations in studying the stabilization time. Therefore, this study introduces a new method for quantifying the cognitive workload of drivers with a measurement frequency of 2 seconds based on the performance of drivers to a newly designed calculating NDRT. A driving simulator experiment containing three automated driving levels and two critical events was conducted for the verification and application of the quantification method. data were collected from 52 participants. The workload before and after critical events was analyzed and the results of quantified workload, the measurement acquired through the quantification method, showed a high similarity with heart rate and pupil diameter, which supported that the measurement could well reflect the workload of drivers with and without critical events. Moreover, the quantification method was applied to analyzing stabilization time after the critical situations and it was observed that quantified workload was a more appropriate measurement in determining the stabilization time of workload compared to heart rate and pupil diameter. In addition, the analysis results based on the workload quantification method showed that the effect of automation levels on the stabilization time of drivers after the critical events occurred was not significant. © 2022, The Authors. Terahertz (THz) wave as an important electromagnetic wave has been increasingly applied in wireless communication and imaging sensing technology. It has been an increasingly practical application. Ultra-high data rates in communication technology push toward a broadband, controllable polarization, and multiple transmission channels signal sources. Here, we propose a programmable polarization spintronics terahertz source (PP-STS), in which contains a controllable polarization spintronic THz emitter and a microcontroller unit. The PP-STS not only can generate THz waves with wide frequency bandwidth, but also has the function of switching the orthogonal linear polarization state of the generated THz waves flexibly. By coding the microcontroller unit, the designed PP-SPS can directly program the orthogonal linear polarization states as a series of information to transmit. To achieve the interconversions between digital codes and the THz polarization information, an optimum matching THz polarization beam splitter (THz-PBS) is also designed via simulations and experiments. The THz-PBS, as a decoder, can accurately split the transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes into two THz detectors. At last, a coding and decoding prototype system of spintronic THz polarization is built by integrating the PP-STS, the THz-PBS and two THz detectors. The send and receive information with high speed and accuracy are verified in this prototype system as well. We believe that our work takes THz applications for multiplexing communications one step further and sheds light on commercializing the PP-STS with exciting manufacturing lines for efficient and economical THz polarization technology. © 2023, The Authors. The development of the manufacturing industry reflects the productivity in a country or region to a certain extent. The informatization plays an increasingly important role in manufacturing. At present, there is still a phenomenon of insufficient transparency and low security performance in the manufacturing industry, which hinders the further development of the manufacturing industry. This paper proposes an intelligent manufacturing information security sharing model based on blockchain technology. The blockchain system can store product information and transaction information in the blocks which can achieve traceability of product information. The information is strengthened in real time, and the consensus mechanism and encryption algorithm are used to ensure that the product cannot be tampered.
