Survey on AI-Enabled Resource Management for 6G Heterogeneous Networks: Recent research, Challenges, and Future Trends

The forthcoming 6G wireless networks have great potential for establishing AI-based networks that can enhance end-to-end connection and manage massive data of real-time networks. Artificial Intelligence (AI) advancements have contributed to the development of several innovative technologies by providing sophisticated specific AI mathematical models such as machine learning models, deep learning models, and hybrid models. Furthermore, intelligent resource management allows for self-configuration and autonomous decision-making capabilities of AI methods, which in turn improves the performance of 6G networks. Hence, 6G networks rely substantially on AI methods to manage resources. This paper comprehensively surveys the recent work of AI methods-based resource management for 6G networks. Firstly, the AI methods are categorized into Deep Learning (DL), Federated Learning (FL), Reinforcement Learning (RL), and Evolutionary Learning (EL). Then, we analyze the AI approaches according to optimization issues such as user association, channel allocation, power allocation, and mode selection. Thereafter, we provide appropriate solutions to the most significant problems with the existing approaches of AI-based resource management. Finally, various open issues and potential trends related to AI-based resource management applications are presented. In summary, this survey enables researchers to understand these advancements thoroughly and quickly identify remaining challenges that need further investigation.

Dimensionality reduction (DR) has been an integral part of exploratory data analysis and feature selection in a multitude of machine learning applications. In particular, it has shown to be useful in multi-parameter photonics design problems where the objective function landscape offers a range of optimized designs. This talk will cover several recent advances in the methodology as well new design applications. Progress on sampling from data-efficient non-linear DR techniques will be presented, along with a method to reduce the computational load of data collection incurred by high fidelity solvers. New design problems in integrated silicon photonics as well as multijunction photonic power converters will be presented as the study cases.

For both new and existing buildings, all variables such as structure of building, damage due to fire from prevention compartments, Time of incidents evacuation routes should be control leverage on people’s evacuation routes, controlled, and additional standard fire protection equipment are imposed. This page outlines the classes of diesel fire pumps, batteries, and pumping systems, besides the elements prompting fire rendition. Onsite diesel generator pump must be connected to a hydrant and the water pumping pressure range must be customized to 8 bar using a pressure gauge. The substantive intent of this concert is to reinforce firefighter safety. Only experienced technicians and training professionals in fire guard are responsible for this part. To simulate the battery tightness position, an extra-critical condition has been considered. Owing to the position of the fire safety properties and battery reaction in buildings, the Firefly and Particle Swarm optimization algorithms have been exerted on the iterations with objective values used for analysis in the iterative process using Matlab 2021 software. Two well-known algorithms are compared to see which provides the best results. The ANN serves as a tool for analyzing and optimizing the pump’s rendition in maintaining an adequate water supply for fire emergencies.

Cyber-Physical-Social Systems (CPSS) integrate computing, communication, sensing, and actuation with physical systems to facilitate human interaction. An essential aspect of these interactions is the accurate identification of human participants, which is critical for initiating effective communication. Predicting participant identities based solely on complex conversational data from social networks presents a significant challenge. To address this, we propose a novel approach by developing a group conversation model within social networks, utilizing a Speaker Interaction Attention-based Recurrent Neural Network (SIARNN) to enhance the accuracy of predicting session targets in group dialogues. Firstly, We employ Gated Recurrent Units (GRUs) to update the recurrent neural network model, leveraging their efficiency in capturing sequential dependencies in dialogue. Secondly, given that participants' roles-initiator, responder, and bystander-shift throughout the conversation, we implement three distinct GRUs to model these transitions effectively. Thirdly, to optimize the neural network's focus on critical information within the limited dialogue context, we integrate an attention mechanism. This mechanism generates an enhanced hidden state that improves prediction accuracy during GRU updates. Finally, multiple datasets are used for analysis. A total of five neural network models are selected to analyze and experiment in detail on three indicators: context length, total number of participants in the conversation, and number of responders in a single round of dialogue. Our results demonstrate that SIARNN achieves superior prediction accuracy.

Cyberphysical systems together with Artificial Intelligence play vital roles in reducing, eliminating, and removing greenhouse gas emissions across sectors. Electrification with renewables introduces complexity in systems in the deployment, integration, and efficient orchestration of electrified economic systems. AI-driven cyberphysical systems are uniquely suited to tackle this complexity, potentially accelerating the transition towards a low-carbon economy. The objective of this policy brief is to advocate for the mainstreaming of AI-driven cyberphysical systems for climate change risk mitigation and adaptation. To effectively and more rapidly realize the Intelligent Decarbonation potential, the concept of AI-driven cyberphysical systems must be elevated to a global level of collaboration and coordination, fostering research and development, capacity building, as well as knowledge and technology transfer. Drawing on a multidisciplinary, international study about intelligent decarbonization use cases, this brief also highlights factors impeding the transition to carbon neutrality and risks associated with technology determinism. The importance of governance is emphasized to avoid unwanted path dependency and avert a technology-solutionist approach dominating climate policy that delivers limited results. Given only 12% of the Sustainable Development Goals have been realized, a condensed version of this policy brief was submitted to the India T20, a G20 engagement group, urging global collaboration to prioritize AI-driven CPSs. © 2023 IEEE.

Dental implants have received a lot of attention and have been used to treat symptoms such as missing teeth and bad teeth. Due to the wide range of occupations and ages of patients, the functions and aims of implants are different. There are many kinds of dental implant shapes. However, with the popularity of dental implants, the problems caused by the some of the dental implant shapes have received much attention. In fact, some implants were used incorrectly. This makes the stress distribution around the implant unreasonable;it not only affects the surrounding bone resorption but also causes mechanical fracture of the implant. This work aims to evaluate the mechanical features of five different kinds of dental implant systems. By applying engineering systems of investigations such as FEM, five types of dental implants and surrounding bone tissue were modeled and simulated under vertical loads of 90 N. Distributions of stresses and deformations in the bone were obtained and ranked according to statistical scores, which were used to judge the optimum geometry of implants. The analytical results showed that the cylindrical implant is the most optimum shape among the other types of implants. Copyright © 2023 by ASME.

CoMT: A Novel Benchmark for Chain of Multi-modal Thought on Large Vision-Language Models

Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs) have recently demonstrated amazing success in multi-modal tasks, including advancements in Multi-modal Chain-of-Thought (MCoT) reasoning. Despite these successes, current benchmarks still follow a traditional paradigm with multi-modal input and text-modal output, which leads to significant drawbacks such as missing visual operations and vague expressions. Motivated by this, we introduce a novel Chain of Multi-modal Thought (CoMT) benchmark to address these limitations. Different from the traditional MCoT benchmark, CoMT requires both multi-modal input and multi-modal reasoning output, aiming to mimic human-like reasoning that inherently integrates visual operations. Specifically, CoMT consists of four categories: (1) Visual Creation, (2) Visual Deletion, (3) Visual Update, and (4) Visual Selection to comprehensively explore complex visual operations and concise expression in real scenarios. We evaluate various LVLMs and strategies on CoMT, revealing some key insights into the capabilities and limitations of the current approaches. In this research, we conduct scattering analysis for a simplified manmade objects model and investigate the polarimetric scattering characteristics, as a fundamental study for accurately detecting oriented manmade area in polarimetric SAR (PolSAR) image. The Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method is utilized here. The model used in the analysis is made of buildings parts (four dielectric rectangular parallelepipeds) and a ground part (a circular plate), to include multiple scattering contribution between buildings in this analysis. As the ground part, three different models showing three different surface conditions are considered: 1) dielectric ground model with flat surface, 2) conductor ground model with flat surface, and 3) dielectric ground model with rough surface. Characteristics of polarimetric correlation coefficient in HV and LR bases for the models are in detail investigated for squint angle variation.
