Building upon the impressive success of CLIP (Contrastive Language-Image Pretraining), recent pioneer works have proposed to adapt the powerful CLIP to video data, leading to efficient and effective video learners for open-vocabulary action recognition. Inspired by that humans perform actions in diverse environments, our work delves into an intriguing question: Can CLIP-based video learners effectively generalize to video domains they have not encountered during training? To answer this, we establish a CROSS-domain Open-Vocabulary Action recognition benchmark named XOV-Action, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of five state-of-the-art CLIP-based video learners under various types of domain gaps. The evaluation demonstrates that previous methods exhibit limited action recognition performance in unseen video domains, revealing potential challenges of the cross-domain open-vocabulary action recognition task. In this paper, we focus on one critical challenge of the task, namely scene bias, and accordingly contribute a novel scene-aware video-text alignment method. Our key idea is to distinguish video representations apart from scene-encoded text representations, aiming to learn scene-agnostic video representations for recognizing actions across domains. The development of server arithmetic benchmarking is of great significance to the development of the whole chip and the whole server arithmetic. Currently, the existing arithmetic tests are categorized into traditional server arithmetic tests, e.g., Linpack, and AI server arithmetic tests, e.g., MlPerl. Traditional server arithmetic tests are insufficient to reflect the arithmetic power of AI servers, and existing AI servers ignore the limitations of the parallelism method, which leads to the instability of the final test results. In this paper, we propose a parallel computing method, DPipe-C, for benchmarking to balance the contradiction between long testing time and unstable test results during training tests. The method uses a dual-pipe approach in order to reduce the size of bubbles in the parallel process and improve the overall throughput of the system. It also uses synchronization to ensure the stability of its results. In the different stages of data transmission, the data is compressed to improve the overall training efficiency, and the delayed delivery error method is used to reduce the impact of the compression process on the training results to ensure the stability of the results. Using this method, the overall throughput of the system is increased by nearly 20%. At the same time, the training accuracy can reach the original accuracy of the model.

This paper introduces a methodology leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) for sector-level portfolio allocation through systematic analysis of macroeconomic conditions and market sentiment. Our framework emphasizes top-down sector allocation by processing multiple data streams simultaneously, including policy documents, economic indicators, and sentiment patterns. Empirical results demonstrate superior risk-adjusted returns compared to traditional cross-momentum strategies, achieving a Sharpe ratio of 2.51 and portfolio return of 8.79% versus -0.61 and -1.39% respectively. These results suggest that LLM-based systematic macro analysis presents a viable approach for enhancing automated portfolio allocation decisions at the sector level. © 2025, CC BY.

Excited states in the neutron-deficient nuclide Hf155 have been investigated in experiments performed at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyväskylä. The Hf155 nuclei were produced in fusion-evaporation reactions induced by beams of 295 and 315 MeV Ni58 ions bombarding an isotopically enriched Pd102 target and separated using the recoil mass separator MARA. An isomeric state having a half-life of 510(30) ns was discovered and is interpreted as a seniority υ=3, (πh11/22⊗νf7/2)27/2− configuration. The γ-ray transitions emitted in the deexcitation of the isomeric state to the ground state were identified and a level scheme was constructed, from which the excitation energy of the isomer was determined to be 2581.5(10) keV. A B(E2) value of 0.45(3) W.u. was deduced for the 105.4 keV transition depopulating the isomeric state. The deduced level scheme and B(E2) value are compared with systematics and shell-model calculations.

ABSTRACTABSTRACTLaser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) on biomedical stainless steel in air and water were systematically studied. The LIPSS exhibit in-plane curves near the ripple centres in the individual tracks of laser scan and the curving was opposite to the laser scan direction. The collective in-plane curving of LIPSS, a hitherto unknown feature for single train pulsed laser processing, is attributed to the accumulative effect of laser ablation and redeposition, which modifies the interference between the surface scattered wave and the incident laser beam. Combinations of media, scan-speed, and laser fluence, showed that the roughness can be increased by slowing the scan-speed. Ripples fabricated in the flowing water with slow scan-speed and high laser power are helpful for the hydrophilicity of biomaterials. A contact angle as low as 47.00 ± 9.35° is obtained towards high surface hydrophilicity. The results provide new insights on LIPSS about their formation and biomedical applications.

The development of industrial areas is frequently thought to have a good impact on society because it helps to meet the population's requirements. However, it also negatively impacts the environment, such as river pollution. If a country experiences rapid economic growth without considering the effects of industrial development on the environment, then human well-being will be affected. In this context, advanced development is attained by a developed nation while ensuring the well-being of society. Uncontrolled and unsustainable development increases environmental pollution, adversely affecting human health. As water is essential for human life, water resources, such as rivers, must be properly managed and protected to ensure human well-being. Thus, the study conducted on the changes in the water quality of the Kim Kim River provides insights into how unintended consequences of urban and industrial development can be identified and addressed using three sets of satellite imagery data from 2015, 2019 and 2020. The study was led to identify research problems and achieve the study objectives to obtain research results. The results of image classification analyses indicate that the development area near Sungai Kim Kim increased to 50%, with 38% from industrial areas. The RMSE for the image classification is 1.51, significantly better than the minimum allowed value of 2.00. It provides an understanding of the change in river water quality because of urban and industrial development. By highlighting the importance of sustainable development and the need to balance economic growth with environmental protection, this study contributes to the development of effective policies and strategies for the sustainable development of industrial areas.

This study presents a stochastic model for corrosion deterioration in submarine pipelines, a major threat to structural integrity and operational efficiency. Using Bayesian updating, the model dynamically adjusts its parameters with new inspection data, improving predictions of corrosion growth and optimizing maintenance intervals to minimize failures. A numerical example demonstrates the model’s effectiveness in forecasting corrosion progression and enhancing maintenance decisions based on reliability and failure probability using the gamma process.

In our research, we developed a method for detecting approaching objects at intersection by focusing on geometric features of point cloud obtained from 3D-LiDAR, without using pre-generated maps to understand the environment. This method can be applied to intersection with diagonal crossings, and can detect approaching vehicles and pedestrians at distances of up to 49 m and 38 m, respectively. The results also showed that the detection was robust and continuous. Furthermore, this process can be used in 50 ms per a frame, so that can be used in real time. This will lead to collision prediction and judgment of starting for automated vehicles.

In this paper, we explore a simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS)-assisted integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) secure communication system. The average long-term security rate of the legitimate user (LU) is maximized by jointly designing the receive filters and transmit beamforming of the base station (BS), and the transmitting and reflecting coefficients of STAR-RIS, and in the meantime, guaranteeing the lower bound of echo signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the achievable rate of LU constraint. We propose to apply two deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithms to solve the complex non-convex problem and maximize the long-term benefits of the system by optimizing the BS beamforming and STAR-RIS phase shifts. The simulation results thoroughly evaluate the performance of two DRL algorithms and demonstrate that STAR-RIS outperforms the conventional reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) in comparison with two benchmarks.
