In this study, double-physical-fields null medium, i.e., a subwavelength air channels surrounded by a carefully arranged metal plates, is utilized to design an electromagnetic-acoustic beam compressor capable of simultaneously compressing electromagnetic waves and acoustic waves. Numerical simulation results verify its ability to simultaneously produce the expected compression ratios for both electromagnetic waves and acoustic waves. Moreover, the compression ratio precisely matches the geometric size ratio of the input and output planes of the compressor. This work may have potential applications in electromagnetic-acoustic coupling systems and electromagnetic-acoustic processing/detection. © 2024 IEEE.

The electrical characteristic test of nanowires is important in nano-materials research. The metal-semiconductor junction that is fabricated with semiconductor nanowire and metal probe in electrical test system has impact on the test result directly, therefore it's necessary to study I-V characteristics of the metal-semiconductor(M-S) junction. Si,ZnO,GaN have been selected from multiple semiconductor materials. When they connected with tungsten probe, all of them formed Schottky barriers, but the relationships between current and voltage of the junctions are distinct. In the thesis, I-V curves of these M-S junctions are compared, and the best electrical performance of M-S junction is selected. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper introduces a design method and a hardware circuit of burglar alarm circuit based on the magnetic field sensor, which can be used to achieve the protection of valuables. The circuit design is ingenious, and has the characteristics of simple structure, light weight, small size, timeliness, high sensitivity and low cost. It has been proved to have a stable and reliable performance by experiment. © 2012 IEEE.

A new robust AQM strategy for dynamically varying TCP/AQM networks is proposed. The developed AQM is designed based on Coefficient Diagram Method (CDM), which is a new indirect pole placement approach that considers the speed, stability and robustness of the closed loop system in terms of the time domain specifications. Computer simulation results are presented to compare the performance of the proposed method with those of PI and RED controllers. © 2005 IEEE.

In this paper, the computation of robustness margin for linear time invariant fractional order systems is studied. For the definition of robustness margin, we employ the one introduced for polynomials (i.e. integer order) and extend it to fractional order functions. Using the well known concept of the value set and knowing its shape for the intended functions, this paper presents an easy way to obtain the robustness margin for fractional order systems. To illustrate the results, a numerical example is provided.

Maxwell's demon-like nonreciprocity by non-Hermitian gyrotropic metasurfaces

We show that Maxwell's demon-like nonreciprocity can be supported in a class of non-Hermitian gyrotropic metasurfaces in the linear regime. The proposed metasurface functions as a transmission-only Maxwell's demon operating at a pair of photon energies. Based on multiple scattering theory, we construct a dual-dipole model to explain the underlying mechanism that leads to the antisymmetric nonreciprocal transmission. The results may inspire new designs of compact nonreciprocal devices for photonics.

This paper develops methodology and technique tor the design, analysis, and impie mentation of an adaptive generalized predictive controller (AGPC) for Active Queue Management in TCP Networks. The TCP/AQM dynamic is modeled experimentally as a second-order system with a time delay where its parameters are estimated using the standard gradient algorithm. Based on this model, an AGPC is designed to gain the set-point tracking and robustness. AGPC, as a queue-based control mechanism, responds quickly to traffic changes, thus allowing for high utilization and small loss. We illustrate our results using ns-2 simulations and demonstrate the practical impact of adaptive model reference control on managing queue utilization and delay. ©2005 IEEE.

A self tuning adaptive control algorithm called Adaptive Queue control (AQC) has been proposed for active queue management (AQM) in TCP networks. This scheme exploits online estimates of the network parameters in the control parameters adjustment rule. AQC, as a queue-based control mechanism, responds quickly to traffic changes, thus allowing for high utilization and small loss. It can effectively stabilize the queue length around target level. We illustrate our results using ns-2 simulations and demonstrate the practical impact of self tuning control on managing queue utilization and delay. © 2005 IEEE.
