With the continued development of accelerated urbanization and the rapid growth of urban population, public transport priority is not only an effective measure to ease urban traffic congestion, but also a requirement of improving the urban living environment and promoting sustainable urban development. How to increase the attractiveness and service level of public transport becomes an important issue. In this paper, an investigation is done to analyze the influencing factors of public transport attractiveness. A binary Logit model is established to evaluate the importance level of the factors affecting their public transport choice under conditions of different travel distances, which can provide basis for relevant government departments to enhance or improve the service quality of public transport. The results show that either the influence factors of trips with different distances (long distance, middle distance, and short distance) or the impact extent are not the same. © 2014 American Society of Civil Engineers.

Atomic layer deposition (ALD), a gas-phase thin film deposition technique based on repeated, self-terminating gas-solid reactions, has become the method of choice in semiconductor manufacturing and many other technological areas for depositing thin conformal inorganic material layers for various applications. ALD has been discovered and developed independently, at least twice, under different names: atomic layer epitaxy (ALE) and molecular layering. ALE, dating back to 1974 in Finland, has been commonly known as the origin of ALD, while work done since the 1960s in the Soviet Union under the name "molecular layering" (and sometimes other names) has remained much less known. The virtual project on the history of ALD (VPHA) is a volunteer-based effort with open participation, set up to make the early days of ALD more transparent. In VPHA, started in July 2013, the target is to list, read and comment on all early ALD academic and patent literature up to 1986. VPHA has resulted in two essays and several presentations at international conferences. This paper, based on a poster presentation at the 16th International Conference on Atomic Layer Deposition in Dublin, Ireland, 2016, presents a recommended reading list of early ALD publications, created collectively by the VPHA participants through voting. The list contains 22 publications from Finland, Japan, Soviet Union, United Kingdom, and United States. Up to now, a balanced overview regarding the early history of ALD has been missing;the current list is an attempt to remedy this deficiency. © 2016 Author(s).

Deterioration diagnosis of a lead acid battery by phase change between impedance and reactance was measured. The measurement frequency of inner impedance was changed from 100 Hz to 5 kHz. The lead acid battery with 11V open terminal voltage at the charge condition of 60% was judged as enabled in case the phase of impedance was more than 35 degrees when the application limit is CCA 180 Ampere. © 2014 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

Owing to the occurrence of the Great East Japan Earthquake and a rise in concern about the global warming issue, we are required to review the conventional Japanese life style and to improve our awareness of energy conservation. At schools, education on energy saving as part of the environmental education field attracts our attention. “Technology for visualization of electric power consumption” has been developed as a tool to promote energy saving activity. In this research, we propose a novel system to promote energy saving activity at school using a sensor network, and complete the proto-type equipment and confirm its performance and usefulness. The system has the following features: offers various functions for energy-saving activities, lower price and ease of construction when compared with conventional tools.

Most current researches working on improving stiffness focus on the application of control *** controller in closed-loop hydraulic control system takes effect only after the controlled position is deviated,so the control action is *** dynamic performance against force disturbance and dynamic load stiffness can’t be improved evidently by advanced control *** this paper,the elementary principle of maintaining piston position unchanged under sudden external force load change by charging additional oil is *** this basis,the conception of raising dynamic stiffness of electro hydraulic position servo system by flow feedforward compensation is put *** a scheme using double servo valves to realize flow feedforward compensation is presented,in which another fast response servo valve is added to the regular electro hydraulic servo system and specially utilized to compensate the compressed oil volume caused by load impact in *** two valves are arranged in parallel to control the cylinder ***,the model of flow compensation is derived,by which the product of the amplitude and width of the valve’s pulse command signal can be *** determination rules of the amplitude and width of pulse signal are concluded by analysis and *** the proposed scheme,simulations and experiments at different positions with different force changes are *** simulation and experimental results show that the system dynamic performance against load force impact is largely improved with decreased maximal dynamic position deviation and shortened settling *** is,system dynamic load stiffness is evidently *** paper proposes a new method which can effectively improve the dynamic stiffness of electro-hydraulic servo systems.

Many visually impaired people have experienced walk accident, e.g., died due to falling down from station platform, injured on stairs. They need a support to walk safely. So there have been many researches that aim to be helpful for visually impaired to walk themselves in safety. This study aims to develop a walking-support-system that can detect steps and stairs for visually impaired. Previous studies only used depth sensor, such as Kinect or Xtion. That way was not available in outdoors because of sunlight. This paper presents the method that uses RGB-D camera to detect stairs and steps by using RGB images and depth images without regarding indoors and outdoors. The effectiveness of the proposed method will be shown with some results.

An even number bits version and whole number bits one of CMOS switched capacitor 8-bit D-A converters using a dual reference input addition method are proposed to realize a miniature chip area and high-speed video band operation. These circuits which provide two reference voltages at upper and lower bits, enable themselves to use common capacitors at upper and lower bits, reducing total capacitances. As a result of simulation for the performance of these 8-bit D-A converters using SPICE, the inaccuracy of the even bits version circuit was less than the resolution of 8-bit conversion. The inaccuracy of the whole bits version circuit was also decreased to less than the resolution of 8-bit D-A converter by decreasing the adder gain. Total capacitances providing the occupation area of these circuits decreased to nearly 20 %ù10 % of that in the conventional switched capacitor 8-bit D-A converter.
