First-principles calculations have been applied to investigate the interactions between Ptn (n=1˜13) clusters and a graphene sheet to model the Pt/C fuel-cell catalytic electrode. For the small clustesr (n<7), planar configurations vertically adsorbed on graphene (V-2d) are more stable than the three-dimensional (3d) configurations. For the large clusters (n>7), the 3d clusters are more stable than the V-2d clusters. In order to investigate the effects of defects anddopants in a graphene sheet, the interactions between the Pt13 cluster and the graphene sheet with an atomic vacancy and an dopant atom, such as boron and nitrogen atoms have been examined. For the atomic vacancy, the Pt atom is directly adsorbed on the C atom vacant site. For the Pt13 cluster adsorbed on the graphene sheet doped with the B or N atoms, the Pt atom is not directly adsorbed on the impurity atoms. The adsorption of the Pt13 cluster above the vacancy of the graphene sheet is more stable that that on the doped graphene sheet in the present calculations.

This paper presents development of a wide color gamut monitor that has 104.4 [%] color gamut comparing to NTSC color gamut. In this paper we would like to report about a prototype of wide color gamut monitor. And more we have compared color gamut of our prototype vs. some major set of standard color patches. We would like to also touch upon this comparison. Specifications of our newly developed monitors are as follows: (1) Color gamut; more than 100 [%] for NTSC, (2) Screen size; 22 [inches] (480mm * 288mm), (3) resolution; WXGA (H; 1280 * V; 768 [pixels]), (4) Maximum brightness; more than 600 [cd/m 2 ] and (5) liquid crystal mode; IPS (In-Plane-Switching). (6) Supporting the bi-directional communication function calledddC/CI (display data Channel Command Interface). We believe that our monitor is useful for soft proofing of dTP as replacement of conventional CrT displays. This research is organized in part by NEdO (New Energy and Industrial technologydevelopment Organization, Japan).

In this paper, we develop an algorithm for PV(Photo Voltaic) generation forecasting on the day before. In this algorithm, we builddatabase of solarradiation patterns by analyzing past 5 years data from the weather center but deal with February data only. Therefore, we can estimate the amount of PV power generation forecasting in February from this algorithm. This algorithm will facilitate the renewable energy development and give useful information forrES providers to manage theirrES power generation schedule. We hope our proposal could help the PV module providers effectively manage their PV generation plan.

As deposited tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) films are amorphous. The films will remain amorphous after O2 or N2O plasma annealing at low temperature. High temperature annealing will produce polycrystalline films where grain boundaries can generate leakage current. Previously, we have shown that N2O plasma annealing is superior to O2 plasma annealing in terms of leakage current reduction for AI/Ta2O5/Si capacitors. However, for TiN/Ta2O5/Si capacitors, the leakage current tends to be higher at low bias voltage for N2O plasma annealing compared to O2 plasma annealing. By adding an 02 plasma annealing step and then comparing TiN/Ta2O5/Si capacitors with two step O2/N2O plasma annealing with respect to similar structures with two step O2/O2 plasma annealing, it can be easily seen that TiN/Ta2O5/Si capacitors with two step O2/N2O plasma annealing have lower leakage current compared to similar structures with two step O2/O2 plasma annealing throughtout the voltage range tested.

In recent, control approaches for the human-like behavior in the field of service robotics have been attracting considerable attention, since most humans or animals perform various tasks uncomplicatedly. Hence simple control methods based on gaining a physical insight into human reaching movement in redundancy of dOFs have been proposed. In comparison with the conventional approaches, the proposed method tries to control directly robotic systems in task-space with the control signal composed of linear superposition of three terms 1) joint-damping, 2) virtual spring, and 3) virtual damper in task-space. In particular, our work contains a muscle tension effect of a human under the gravity. This give birth to energy efficient natural motions avoiding problems on repeatability of the motion and ill-posedness problems emerged in most of redundant dOF systems. Thus, this paper exhibits expendability of the position control into the orientation control and compliant behavior. It is verified with a real robotic arm that satisfies human-like movements and motion repeatability under kinematic redundancy of joints.

Fabrication of CNT pattern by liquid-phase baseddeposition technique has been studied in Xintek for several years. By using this technique, we successfully fabricated sealed CNT field emission display prototypes with diode structures. The CNT panel size has been scaled up from 4 inch to 8 inch. Patterned CNT cathode was made by incorporating photolithography techniques into the liquid-phase deposition process. CNT pattern size of 50 um was achieved on our standard (unpolished) display substrates. A simple substrate polishing process couldreduce the CNT pattern size down to 20 um. It indicates that high-resolution displays are possible by improving the surface smoothness of the substrates. The patterned CNT cathodes demonstrated good field emission characteristics including low turn-on field and high emission current density. However, the emission uniformity remains to be a major concern. The global emission uniformity of the CNT panels can be improved through more engineering efforts. We believe that the emission uniformity in pixel can be enhanced by optimization of the liquid-phase deposition process and CNTs concentration, distribution as well as morphology in the cathodes. Liquid-phase deposition technique can also deposit CNTs into preformed triode structures with the aid of photolithography techniques.

A highly effective magnetic heat pump system using a permanent magnet with a rotational mechanism has been developed as a national project in Japan. The goal of ourresearch anddevelopment as a "Next Generation Heat Pump System" fordeveloping practical-use heat pump technology using the magnetocaloric effect is to establish prospects for early realization of a magnetic heat pump based on demonstration results. A magnetic heat pump was designed and produced using a cascading connection with multiple magnetocaloric materials so that a maximum refrigeration capacity of kW class was achieved, and efficiency (COP) at a temperature difference of 10 K or more was estimated. Also, research anddevelopment of magnetocaloric materials heat exchanger heat-transfer enhancement and pressure loss reduction techniques, a heat exchanger for magnetic heat pump cooling, magnetocaloric effect heat-transfer simulation technique, an arbitrary shape processing technology for the magnetocaloric materials were carried out.

Currently,in the automotive industry,joining of the aluminum alloys with the steel is a crucial problem to be *** joining techniques including resistance spot and gas metal arc welding are not acceptable for those applications due to a number of metallurgical *** investigation was carried out to develop the hybrid joining process combining the resistance spot welding and *** this study,an attempt was made to apply hybrid process to the joining of dissimilar sheet metals,Al-Mg-Si(6000 series) alloy and low carbon steel *** process(resistance spot weld/brazing) using filler metal was found to be effective to overcome the incompatibility between aluminum alloy and *** hybrid joining process of Al alloy sheet and steel sheet did not produce acceptable bond strength,it was proved to have reasonable interfacial bond layer if the optimal process condition was applied.
