Since it is very difficult for humans to perform tasks underwater, underwater robots have been actively studied in recent years. In this study, a propulsive force estimation method based on the two-point hinged oscillating wing theory is implemented and proposed for the purpose of developing an underwater robot that can perform various underwater tasks in place of humans. The proposed method is modified from the previous study in terms of the placement of the hinge points to consider a propulsive force generated by the caudal peduncle. The estimation results show that the propulsive force obtained by this method has an error with the propulsive force obtained by analysis. From this fact, the influence of the two-point hinged oscillating wing theory on the propulsive force estimation is discussed. The effect of changing the placement of the hinge points is also discussed.

Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) positioning system has become the main research object in indoor positioning field due to its superior positioning performance. Accuracy at the scale of centimeters is achievable in an ideal positioning scenario. Nonetheless, the intricate and changeable indoor surroundings may cause UWB signals to propagate beyond the line-of-sight (LOS) and weaken in signal strength, resulting in a considerable reduction in the precision of positioning. In this paper, methods for identifying non-line-of-sight (NLOS) errors, alleviating NLOS errors, and integrating multi-sensor information are analyzed and studied to provide reference for improving the NLOS positioning accuracy of UWB.

In this paper, a model is constructed to investigate the mechanism induced quorum sensing (QS) by coexisting of small RNA and signal molecule. The QS network model regulated by small RNAs is studied. The condition of the stability of the QS network is considered by using Routh-Hurwitz stability criterion. The conditions for the existence of Hopf bifurcation are obtained. Then, a linear feedback control is designed to make the system asymptotically stable. The numerical simulation is used to verify the results of theoretical analysis.

Diamagnetic graphite (Pyrolytic graphite: PG) plate carries out passive magnetic lévitation above high magnetic field without cooling down. By applying this phenomenon, the authors designed a contact-free two dimensional micro positioning model using PG plate and two dimensional (2D) Halbach permanent magnet (PM) array. In this model, the PG plate motion is performed with change in the surrounding magnetic field, which is provided by approaching a small PM piece. And as far as its keeping position, it does not require supplying electrical power. Recently, precise micro motion control of PG plate above 2D Halbach PM array was realized. For nano-scale precise motion control, currently, improving magnetic stiffness of PG plate has performed. This paper presents the result of improvement of magnetic stiffness and more precise motion of PG plate. © 2010 The Institute of Electrical Engineers of Japan.

According to the requirements of the engineering education professional certification, this paper analyzes the characteristics of the graduation score data table. For the unclear scores in the table, their validity is determined by synthesizing other information. Effective method for processing this data table is provided, and a computer program is developed to directly obtain the distribution table and chart of the scores of the past three years graduates. This provides a basis for analyzing the degree of achievement of graduation requirement and meets the requirements of the engineering education professional certification.

We have investigated several characteristics of the keystroke dynamics in Japanese free text. In the previous studies, it was indicated that authentication accuracy could not achieve the adequate level of personal authentication for the group including lower typing skill participants. In this paper, we propose a new profiling method generating combined profile documents. By performing a large scale experiment involving 260 participants, we found that the method combining two profile documents out of ten profile documents resulted in the recognition accuracy rate of 98 % even in the case for the group including lower typing skill participants who manage to type 500 to 700 letters per 5 minutes.

Environmental issues are getting widespread international attention. The damage to the plant is immeasurable, too. For monitoring the vegetation conditions, a non-destructive, simplified and low-cost chlorophyll fluorometer was developed. Pulse amplification modulation method and control using programmable logic controller has been employed for that purpose. By measuring the fluorescence from spinach leaf, the performance of the system was checked. It was found that the system was provided empirical data to support theory.

In recent years, highly functional mobile handsets called smartphones have become increasingly widespread. This research investigates personal authentication by flick input of Japanese free text using a smartphone based on previous research into keystroke authentication using keyboards. Authentication experiments are performed with 43 participants, and an increase in authentication accuracy is found through extraction of new features.

Planetary gearboxes (PGs) are the core transmission components of complex rotating machinery. The diverse forms of internal gear faults often complicate diagnosis and maintenance work. To improve the fault diagnosis accuracy of PGs, this paper proposes a method for diagnosing PG faults based on deep autoencoders (DAE) and convolutional neural networks (CNN). The method fully utilizes the deep learning capability of DAE and combines it with the precise recognition ability of CNN for fault features. Through precise learning in the encoding layer, it achieves deep dimensionality reduction of fault features and further learns these features after dimensionality reduction by CNN. Compared to traditional CNN, the method reduces the computation parameters and resource consumption, resulting in higher precision intelligent fault diagnosis. Experimental results demonstrate that DAE-CNN exhibits stronger fault diagnosis ability than traditional networks.

With the continuous development of Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning has achieved excellent results in many fields. An improved Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm is proposed in this paper to optimize Reinforcement Learning control performance, because of the issue of sparse rewards during training in continuous action spaces such as robotic arms, leading to slow convergence and low success rates. The algorithm merges the DDPG algorithm with the Hindsight Experience Relay (HER) algorithm, enabling the agent to learn from the failed experience when learning. Moreover, a double experience replay buffer is introduced, comprising a primary buffer and a secondary buffer containing high-reward experiences, which enhances the sampling probability of high-quality samples. At long last, a PyBullet simulation environment was utilized to execute a simulation experiment. The robotic arm using the improved DDPG algorithm achieved a success rate of nearly 100% in about 220 epochs of training, and the algorithm convergence speed was greatly improved. The trained robotic arm can reach any target point in the workspace. The efficacy of the improved DDPG algorithm is demonstrated by the outcomes, providing a valuable reference for further exploration into the intelligent control of robotic arms for object grasping.
