Channel knowledge map (CKM) has received widespread attention as an emerging enabling technology for environment-aware wireless communications. It involves the construction of databases containing location-specific channel knowledge, which are then leveraged to facilitate channel state information (CSI) acquisition and transceiver design. In this context, a fundamental challenge lies in efficiently constructing the CKM based on a given wireless propagation environment. Most existing methods are based on stochastic modeling and sequence prediction, which do not fully exploit the inherent physical characteristics of the propagation environment, resulting in low accuracy and high computational complexity. To address these limitations, we propose a Laplacian pyramid (LP)-based CKM construction scheme to predict the channel knowledge at arbitrary locations in a targeted area. Specifically, we first view the channel knowledge as a 2-D image and transform the CKM construction problem into an image-to-image (I2I) inpainting task, which predicts the channel knowledge at a specific location by recovering the corresponding pixel value in the image matrix. Then, inspired by the reversible and closed-form structure of the LP, we show its natural suitability for our task in designing a fast I2I mapping network. For different frequency components of LP decomposition, we design tailored networks accordingly. Besides, to encode the global structural information of the propagation environment, we introduce self-attention and cross-covariance attention mechanisms in different layers, respectively. Finally, experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms the benchmark, achieving higher reconstruction accuracy while with lower computational complexity. Mathematical optimization is now widely regarded as an indispensable modeling and solution tool for the design of wireless communications systems. While optimization has played a significant role in the revolutionary progress in wireless communication and networking technologies from 1G to 5G and onto the future 6G, the innovations in wireless technologies have also substantially transformed the nature of the underlying mathematical optimization problems upon which the system designs are based and have sparked significant innovations in the development of methodologies to understand, to analyze, and to solve those problems. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive survey of recent advances in mathematical optimization theory and algorithms for wireless communication system design. We begin by illustrating common features of mathematical optimization problems arising in wireless communication system design. We discuss various scenarios and use cases and their associated mathematical structures from an optimization perspective. We then provide an overview of recently developed optimization techniques in areas ranging from nonconvex optimization, global optimization, and integer programming, to distributed optimization and learning-based optimization. The key to successful solution of mathematical optimization problems is in carefully choosing or developing suitable algorithms (or neural network architectures) that can exploit the underlying problem structure. Structural health monitoring (SHM) includes both static and highly dynamic engineering systems. With the advent of real-time sensing, edge-computing, and high-bandwidth computer memory, there is an ability to enable high-rate SHM (HR-SHM). The paper defines the technical area of high-rate structural health monitoring and prognostics and presents the HR-SHM technical grand challenges including multi-timescales of the problem, adequate sensor network and response, real-time assessment, and decision-making with quantified uncertainty and risk. Key issues to address in such challenges include the time duration of the event, timescales of the physics, multiple sources of uncertainty, as well as limited spatiotemporal constraints for hardware execution. The paper defines the high-rate timescale as 1 ms on the integrated paradigm including data acquisition, assessment execution, and decision-making. The spatial issues include the resolution of the area monitored, the communication distance, and the number of edge sensors. The temporal issue includes the sensor type (e.g., THz) as well as multiple sources of uncertainty. These constraints must be coupled to allow for high-rate implementation that is robust, adaptable, and beneficial to the missions of interest. To address the grand challenge, we propose physics-informed real-time fusion (PIRF) of high-speed dynamic data. Technologies such as machine learning and edge-computing can be further harnessed to enable structural and functional prognostics for high-rate dynamic systems. Quantification of uncertainty, both aleatory and epistemic, is necessary for real-time state estimation to be connected with the confidences to integrate risks into the decision-making. © 2022, The Society for Experimental Mechanics, Inc.

For each smart home, the need of energy consumption supervision is necessary, which plays an important role to ensure the highest power quality and to enhance the stability of the whole grid. The current document implements a smart home supply strategy based on endless resources to reduce the electricity bill and confirm the energy balance. In this context, a proposed supervision algorithm operates in eight cases to reach optimal energy flow between renewable generators, home battery and grid in a smart home concept is presented. The system is evaluated using the framework “Business Process Model and Notation” (BPMN) Camunda basing on information stored in Firebase Cloud and results are presented in order to manifest the efficiency of this control strategy.

This paper deals with the development of an adaptive robust controller for an Unmanned Aircraft System with variable mass. The goal is to improve trajectory tracking and energy performance while the aircraft mass is gradually reducing due to payload release. To improve the trajectory tracking performance, we propose an algorithm that merges the concepts of least squares method and sliding mode observer for the estimation of the vehicle mass. The nonlinear observer estimates the linear velocities and accelerations, which are further used to obtain the vehicle mass. A robust adaptive pole placement controller based on the Attractive Ellipsoid Method uses this estimation to update the controllers gains due to the mass variation. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm for performing aerial transportation and deployment of payloads, we present a numerical example comparing the performance of the proposed method with respect to using Proportional Derivative controllers as well as Robust Controllers. © 2021 Chinese Automatic Control Society and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd

YOLO-TS: Real-Time Traffic Sign Detection with Enhanced Accuracy Using Optimized Receptive Fields and Anchor-Free Fusion

Ensuring safety in both autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) depends critically on the efficient deployment of traffic sign recognition technology. While current methods show effectiveness, they often compromise between speed and accuracy. To address this issue, we present a novel real-time and efficient road sign detection network, YOLO-TS. This network significantly improves performance by optimizing the receptive fields of multi-scale feature maps to align more closely with the size distribution of traffic signs in various datasets. Moreover, our innovative feature-fusion strategy, leveraging the flexibility of Anchor-Free methods, allows for multiscale object detection on a high-resolution feature map abundant in contextual information, achieving remarkable enhancements in both accuracy and speed. To mitigate the adverse effects of the grid pattern caused by dilated convolutions on the detection of smaller objects, we have devised a unique module that not only mitigates this grid effect but also widens the receptive field to encompass an extensive range of spatial contextual information, thus boosting the efficiency of information usage. Evaluation on challenging public datasets, TT100K and CCTSDB2021, demonstrates that YOLO-TS surpasses existing state-of-the-art methods in terms of both accuracy and speed. This paper investigates the (Formula presented.) control problem for discrete-time uncertain slow sampling Markov jump systems under the event-triggered scheme. Discrete-time Markov jumps are controlled using an event-triggered scheme. An event-based strategy is addressed to reduce the data communication and improve the control efficiency. By applying a switched Lyapunov functional and linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), we derive sufficient conditions for (Formula presented.) -dissipativity of the resulting system. An event-triggered scheme is introduced into LMIs approaches in order to solve the dissipative control problem. The control strategy is implemented by combining the disturbance output with state feedback control law in order to achieve asymptotically stable closed-loop systems. Convex combination approach is utilized to handle slow sampling input, while parameter uncertainty and external disturbances are both included, and the robustness (Formula presented.) performance is analyzed. The developed methods are illustrated with two examples that illustrate their flexibility and applicability. © 2025 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Exceptional point (EP) has been captivated as a concept of interpreting eigenvalue degeneracy and eigenstate exchange in non-Hermitian physics. The chirality in the vicinity of EP is intrinsically preserved and usually immune to external bias or perturbation, resulting in the robustness of asymmetric backscattering and directional emission in classical wave fields. Despite recent progress in non-Hermitian thermal diffusion, all state-of-the-art approaches fail to exhibit chiral states or directional robustness in heat transport. Here we report the first discovery of chiral heat transport, which is manifested only in the vicinity of EP but suppressed at the EP of a thermal system. The chiral heat transport demonstrates significant robustness against drastically varying advections and thermal perturbations imposed. Our results reveal the chirality in heat transport process and provide a novel strategy for manipulating mass, charge, and diffusive light.
