Many deep learning based methods have been proposed for retinal vessel segmentation, however few of them focus on the connectivity of segmented vessels, which is quite important for a practical computer-aided diagnosis system on retinal images. In this paper, we propose an efficient network to address this problem. A U-shape network is enhanced by introducing a semantics-guided module, which integrates the enriched semantics information to shallow layers for guiding the network to explore more powerful features. Besides, a recursive refinement iteratively applies the same network over the previous segmentation results for progressively boosting the performance while increasing no extra network parameters. The carefully designed recursive semantics-guided network has been extensively evaluated on several public datasets. Node dynamics and network topologies play vital roles in determining the network features and network dynamical *** it is of great theoretical significance and practical value to recover the topology structures and system parameters of uncertain complex networks with available information. This paper presents an adaptive anticipatory synchronization-based approach to identify the unknown system parameters and network topological structures of uncertain time-varying delayed complex networks in the presence of noise. Moreover, during the identification process, our proposed scheme guarantees anticipatory synchronization between the uncertain drive and constructed auxiliary response network simultaneously. Particularly, our method can be extended to several special cases. Furthermore, numerical simulations are provided to verify the effectiveness and applicability of our method for reconstructing network topologies and node parameters. We hope our method can provide basic insight into future research on addressing reconstruction issues of uncertain realistic and large-scale complex networks.

Zodiacal light (ZL) is sunlight scattered by interplanetary dust particles (IDPs) at optical wavelengths. The spatial distribution of IDPs in the Solar System may hold an important key to understanding the evolution of the Solar System and material transportation within it. The number density of IDPs can be expressed as n(r) ∼ r−α, and the exponent α ∼ 1.3 was obtained by previous observations from interplanetary space by Helios 1/2 and Pioneer 10/11 in the 1970s and 1980s. However, no direct measurements of α based on ZL observations from interplanetary space outside Earth’s orbit have been performed since then. Here, we introduce initial results for the radial profile of the ZL at optical wavelengths observed over the range 0.76-1.06 au by ONC-T aboard the Hayabusa2# mission in 2021-2022. The ZL brightness we obtained is well reproduced by a model brightness, although there is a small excess of the observed ZL brightness over the model brightness at around 0.9 au. The radial power-law index we obtained is α = 1.30 ± 0.08, which is consistent with previous results based on ZL observations. The dominant source of uncertainty arises from the uncertainty in estimating the diffuse Galactic light (DGL). © 2023, CC BY.

一般情况下,每年冬季是季节性流感高发季节,但在当前2019冠状病毒病(COVID-19)大流行期间,全球季节性流感活动呈“断崖式”下降。为应对即将到来的流感季节,亟需弄清这种前所未有的流感低水平流行的原因。本文中,我们探索了一种国家特异性推理模型,利用该模型估计中国、英国和美国这三个国家中佩戴口罩、人员流动变化(国际和国内)以及严重急性呼吸综合征冠状病毒2型(SARS-CoV-2)干扰的影响。结果发现,在这些地区增加一周佩戴口罩的干预措施,流感活动可减少11.3%~35.2%。实施一周的限制人员流动措施对国际(1.7%~6.5%)和国内社区(1.6%~2.8%)的影响较小。2020年至2021年,仅佩戴口罩这一项干预措施就可使阳性率下降13.3%至19.8%。仅人员流动变化可使阳性率降低5.2%至14.0%,其中79.8%~98.2%归因于国际旅行限制。SARS-CoV-2干扰仅在2019年至2020年具有统计学显著效应。中国北方地区及英国的阳性百分比分别降低7.6%(2.4~14.4)和10.2%(7.2~13.6)。探索所得出的结果对了解非药物干预措施和其他呼吸系统疾病背景下的流感演变有一定意义,有助于制定卫生政策,并可为公共卫生措施的个性化设计提供信息。

Macroscopic fundamental diagram (MFD) captures an orderly relationship among traffic flow, density, and speed at the network level. Understanding network-wide traffic through MFDs can optimally allocate demand to existing networks, improving performance by maximizing network production and avoiding congestion. However, due to historical data limitations, empirically derived MFD models are sparse in the literature, especially for the U.S. cities. Leveraging a large-scale and granular census-tract-level flow and density derived from vehicle probe data, this research is the first to develop a machine learning approach to both derive MFD models and interpret their underlying difference among urban networks across the entire United States. Among the four machine learning methods tested here XGBoost is found to deliver the best performance to predict the network traffic flow for given vehicular density and location attributes. Interaction Shapley Additive explanation (SHAP) values are used to interpret the factors, such as land use, transportation infrastructure, and network topology, that influence the flow-density relationships among locations. The analysis framework developed in this work can generate datadriven MFDs and a deeper understanding of their shape dependence on network, infrastructure, and land use characteristics, which can be used by transportation authorities to derive and optimize location-specific MFDs facilitating more informed management and planning decisions at the network level.

Group signature is a useful cryptographic primitive that allows a message to be signed by a user on behalf of a group which is managed by some trusted authority, namely the group manager. However, group signature schemes typically place a disturbingly high level of trust on the group manager, which has become a major deployment issue in cyber applications where there is no centralized trust management. In this paper, we investigate mechanisms that aim to achieve a balance between anonymity and accountability in group signatures by decentralizing the operation of tracing the signer. We propose a practical group signature scheme with decentralized tracing. When comparing with a similar result by Benjumea et al. (FC 2008), our proposal has the advantage of a shorter signature size. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Ultrasound imaging is widely used in clinical diagnosis due to its non-invasive nature and real-time capabilities. However, conventional ultrasound diagnostics face several limitations, including high dependence on physician expertise and suboptimal image quality, which complicates interpretation and increases the likelihood of diagnostic errors. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a promising solution to enhance clinical diagnosis, particularly in detecting abnormalities across various biomedical imaging modalities. Nonetheless, current AI models for ultrasound imaging face critical challenges. First, these models often require large volumes of labeled medical data, raising concerns over patient privacy breaches. Second, most existing models are task-specific, which restricts their broader clinical utility. To overcome these challenges, we present UltraFedFM, an innovative privacy-preserving ultrasound foundation model. UltraFedFM is collaboratively pre-trained using federated learning across 16 distributed medical institutions in 9 countries, leveraging a dataset of over 1 million ultrasound images covering 19 organs and 10 ultrasound modalities. This extensive and diverse data, combined with a secure training framework, enables UltraFedFM to exhibit strong generalization and diagnostic capabilities. It achieves an average area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) of 0.927 for disease diagnosis and a dice similarity coefficient (DSC) of 0.878 for lesion segmentation. Notably, UltraFedFM surpasses the diagnostic accuracy of mid-level ultrasonographers (4–8 years of experience) and matches the performance of expert-level sonographers (10+ years of experience) in the joint diagnosis of 8 common systemic diseases. These findings indicate that UltraFedFM can significantly enhance clinical diagnostics while safeguarding patient privacy, marking a significant advancement in AI-driven ultrasound imaging for future clinical applications. Developing and integrating advanced image sensors with novel algorithms in camera systems is prevalent with the increasing demand for computational photography and imaging on mobile platforms. However, the lack of high-quality data for research and the rare opportunity for in-depth exchange of views from industry and academia constrain the development of mobile intelligent photography and imaging (MIPI). To bridge the gap, we introduce the first MIPI challenge including five tracks focusing on novel image sensors and imaging algorithms. In this paper, we summarize and review the Under-Display Camera (UDC) Image Restoration track on MIPI 2022. In total, 167 participants were successfully registered, and 19 teams submitted results in the final testing phase. The developed solutions in this challenge achieved state-of-the-art performance on Under-Display Camera Image Restoration. A detailed description of all models developed in this challenge is provided in this paper. Medication recommendation for chronic diseases based on the complex historical electronic medical records (EMR) is an important and challenging research problem in medical informatics because the medical records are often irregularly sampled and contain many missing data. However, most existing approaches fail to explore the irregular time-series dependencies and ignore the consecutive correlation in dynamic prescription history. To fill this gap, we propose the MEdication Recommendation network on Irregular Time-Series (MERITS), which captures the irregular time-series dependencies with the neural ordinary differential equations (Neural ODE). Meanwhile, it leverages a drug-drug interaction knowledge graph and two learned medication relation graphs to explore the co-occurrence and sequential correlations of the medications. We further propose an attention-based encoder-decoder framework to combine the historical information of patients and medications from EMR. Besides, we collect and annotate a diabetes inpatient medication dataset and demonstrate the effectiveness of MERITS by comparing it with several state-of-the-art methods of medication recommendations.

Multi-view data are commonly encountered in data mining applications. Effective extraction of information from multi-view data requires specific design of clustering methods to cater for data with multiple views, which is non-trivial and challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel one-step multi-view clustering method by exploiting the dual representation of both the common and specific information of different views. The motivation originates from the rationale that multi-view data contain not only the consistent knowledge between views but also the unique knowledge of each view. Meanwhile, to make the representation learning more specific to the clustering task, a one-step learning framework is proposed to integrate representation learning and clustering partition as a whole. With this framework, the representation learning and clustering partition mutually benefit each other, which effectively improves the clustering performance.
