How improve the mapping efficiency and location accuracy of the multi-UAV cluster based on the distributed SLAM technology is a significant problem in overlapping regions. Therefore, this paper mainly proposes a novel relocation recognition algorithm for the multi-UAV cluster. First, the autonomous localization algorithm based on visual-inertial fusion is proposed. Then, the algorithm for vocabulary updating and relocating is designed. Finally, practical testing is implemented to verify and improve the efficiency of exploration ability and the accuracy of the autonomous navigation and positioning in the complex overlapping regions. © 2022 IEEE.

A Dimensional Structure based Knowledge Distillation Method for Cross-Modal Learning

Due to limitations in data quality, some essential visual tasks are difficult to perform independently. Introducing previously unavailable information to transfer informative dark knowledge has been a common way to solve such hard tasks. However, research on why transferred knowledge works has not been extensively explored. To address this issue, in this paper, we discover the correlation between feature discriminability and dimensional structure (DS) by analyzing and observing features extracted from simple and hard tasks. On this basis, we express DS using deep channel-wise correlation and intermediate spatial distribution, and propose a novel cross-modal knowledge distillation (CMKD) method for better supervised cross-modal learning (CML) performance. The proposed method enforces output features to be channel-wise independent and intermediate ones to be uniformly distributed, thereby learning semantically irrelevant features from the hard task to boost its accuracy. This is especially useful in specific applications where the performance gap between dual modalities is relatively large. Furthermore, we collect a real-world CML dataset to promote community development. The dataset contains more than 10, 000 paired optical and radar images and is continuously being updated. In this paper, a covert semantic communication framework is proposed for image transmission over wireless networks. In the proposed framework, devices extract and selectively transmit semantic information of image data to a base station (BS). The semantic information consists of the objects in the image and a set of attributes of each object. A warden selects a device to detect and eavesdrops the semantic information. To ensure the security of semantic communications, a jammer, acts as the defender, requires to find a vulnerable device and transmits jamming signals to the vulnerable device. The metric to measure the performance of the covert semantic communications is defined as the difference in the average accuracy of the BS and the warden answering a set of questions for each image. To maximize the performance of covert semantic communications, each device and the jammer must jointly optimize their transmit power, determine the vulnerable device to be protected, and determine the partial semantic information that each device needs to transmit. To solve this problem, we propose a multi-agent policy gradient (MAPG) algorithm. The proposed algorithm enables each device and the jammer to cooperatively discover the vulnerable devices as well as find the semantic information transmission and power control policies that maximize the performance of the covert semantic communication system. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the communication performance by up to 14.5% compared to the independent reinforcement learning.

In this paper, we investigate an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted integrated communication and localization network in emergency scenarios where a single UAV is deployed as both an airborne base station (BS) and anchor node to assist ground BSs in communication and localization services. We formulate an optimization problem to maximize the sum communication rate of all users under localization accuracy constraints by jointly optimizing the 3D position of the UAV, and communication bandwidth and power allocation of the UAV and ground BSs. To address the intractable localization accuracy constraints, we introduce a new performance metric and geometrically characterize the UAV feasible deployment region in which the localization accuracy constraints are satisfied. Accordingly, we combine Gibbs sampling (GS) and block coordinate descent (BCD) techniques to tackle the non-convex joint optimization problem. Numerical results show that the proposed method attains almost identical rate performance as the meta-heuristic benchmark method while reducing the CPU time by 89.3%. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. With the widespread application of deep learning methods, multimodal techniques have also achieved rapid development. Since single-modal speech recognition may affect the accuracy of recognition results in noisy environments, multimodal fusion recognition gradually replaces the traditional single-modal recognition methods. In this paper, we mainly strengthen and pre-process audio and video data first, and use LSTM recurrent neural network for deep feature extraction of audio and video streams, which effectively solves the problem of long-term forgetting of general neural networks. The audio and video feature vectors are then fused by a fully connected neural network with linear connections. Compared with the speech recognition technique alone, this audiovisual fusion recognition method has a better recognition effect in the case of noise interference. Compared with the traditional audiovisual recognition method, the model simplifies the recognition work. Recognition experiments on the LRS2-BBC dataset show that the recognition accuracy of this method improves to a certain extent over that of other methods in a clean environment and greatly improves in noisy conditions. © 2022 SPIE.

A multiagent sequential decision problem has been seen in many critical applications including urban transportation, autonomous driving cars, military operations, etc. Its widely known solution, namely multiagent reinforcement learning, has evolved tremendously in recent years. Among them, the solution paradigm of modeling other agents attracts our interest, which is different from traditional value decomposition or communication mechanisms. It enables agents to understand and anticipate others' behaviors and facilitates their collaboration. Inspired by recent research on the legibility that allows agents to reveal their intentions through their behavior, we propose a multiagent active legibility framework to improve their performance. The legibility-oriented framework drives agents to conduct legible actions so as to help others optimize their behaviors. In addition, we design a series of problem domains that emulate a common legibility-needed scenario and effectively characterize the legibility in multiagent reinforcement learning. The experimental results demonstrate that the new framework is more efficient and requires less training time compared to several multiagent reinforcement learning algorithms. © 2025 The Author(s)

The range of using wireless sensor networks is very wide as its application includes most fields. Because of the impact of communication costs on node power consumption, this sort of network has restricted node capacity and a short lifespan. Sensor nodes in wireless sensor networks rely on their mostly non-rechargeable batteries to monitor, collect information and send it back to the Sink, via various techniques for routing. remarkably efficient and extensively used routing protocol is LEACH. as it is based on a hierarchical grouping of nodes. However, it suffers from some drawbacks. In this article, we attempt to address the LEACH protocol and a comparative presentation of some of the improvements that have come in the literature. Finally, we offer proposals for enhancing this technique.

Ensuring end-to-end cross-layer communication security in military networks by selecting covert schemes between nodes is a key solution for military communication security. With the development of communication technology, covert communication has expanded from the physical layer to the network and application layers, utilizing methods such as artificial noise, private networks, and semantic coding to transmit secret messages. However, as adversaries continuously eavesdrop on specific communication channels, the accumulation of sufficient data may reveal underlying patterns that influence concealment, and establishing a cross-layer covert communication mechanism emerges as an effective strategy to mitigate these regulatory challenges. In this article, we first survey the communication security solution based on covert communication, specifically targeting three typical scenarios: device-to-device, private network communication, and public network communication, and analyze their application scopes. Furthermore, we propose an end-to-end cross-layer covert communication scheme driven by Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), highlighting challenges and their solutions.
