In this research, a high-altitude, compact and rapidly deployable, air-launched, inflatablewinged aircraft is designed, developed, and flight-tested to investigate the flight characteristics of inflatable-winged aircraft as well as the in-flight inflation and dynamic deployment properties when launched from various carriers. To start with, two types of inflatable wings employing different materials have been designed, fabricated, and tested, the tests including structural characteristics tests, inflation properties tests, and low-Reynolds-number wind-tunnel tests. A full-scale 30-kilogram prototype unmanned aerial vehicle with inflatable wings was then designed, assembled and tested with some basic low-altitude flights to verify the feasibility of the aerodynamic layout and the trim and stability and control characteristics. Finally, low- and high-altitude in-flight launches will be conducted to study the dynamic deployment properties and high-altitude flight characteristics of this design. © 2025, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. Most cell types are mechanosensitive, their activities such as differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis, can be influenced by the mechanical environment through mechanical stimulation. In three dimensional (3D) mechanobiological in vitro studies, the porous structure of scaffold controls the local mechanical environment that applied to cells. Many previous studies have focused on the topological design of homogeneous scaffold struts. However, the impact of scaffold inhomogeneity on the mechanical environment, which is essential in mechanobiological application (e.g. for multi-cells co-culture), remains elusive. In this study, we use a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) approach together with data analysis to study the influence of a porosity gradient (10 %–30 % porosity difference) on the local and global mechanical environment (wall shear stress - WSS) within the commonly used structures of triple periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS). In addition, the anisotropy of internal WSS and scaffold permeability caused by the porosity gradient is investigated. It is found that the influence of anisotropy on the average WSS and permeability is up to 11 % and 31 %, respectively. These results, as theoretical references will be useful to tissue engineers and mechanobiologists for scaffold design and in vitro experiment planning such as integrated use of graded scaffold and bioreactors for specific cell types. © 2025 The Authors

A speech recognition system is an application to recognize spoken words through audio inputs. On the other hand, spectrograms are visual representations of audio signals and effectively represent words numerically. In this research, we developed a spectrogram-based speech recognition system using machine learning's K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) method to recognize aerospace terminologies, some uncommon for ordinary people. We used 300 audio signal data consisting of two categories, namely 15 spectrogram data for aerospace terminologies and 15 spectrogram data for non-aerospace ones, each taken ten times. By conducting a 70:30 training and testing scheme, strengthened by k-fold cross-validation, the optimum K for KNN is 13. With such value of K, our developed intelligent system for aerospace terminologies recognition based on spectrogram can achieve an accuracy of 75.56% with a precision of 75.56%, recall of 75.56%, and F-1 score of 75.56%. With that accuracy, our developed intelligent system is considered as a good system. © 2023 IEEE.

This research aims to develop an application for selecting the best new tenant at PT Angkasa Pura II Sultan Thaha Jambi Airport Branch by utilizing Weighted Product (WP) method as the decision support system. Our approach is descriptive research with data analysis technique using four prospective tenants coded A-1 to A-4. The data was collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature study. The steps for selecting the best new tenant using the WP method include determining the criteria, sorting the suitability of alternatives and criteria, determining the weight of each criterion and its normalization, calculating the score, S value as an alternative preference, and calculating the ranking, V value as the final alternative preference. Based on the final calculation results, the new tenant coded A-4 is the best alternative based on the data collected from the Financial Management (FHFM) Unit and the Commercial Unit, with a value of V-4 is 0.294. © 2023 IEEE.

This study aims to develop an interactive virtual tour based on Android with a first-person shooter approach to introduce the Adisutjipto Institute of aerospace Technology (ITD Adisutjipto) virtually. This virtual tour utilizes an Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent as an intelligent guide who can answer questions and provide relevant information related to facilities and locations inside the ITD Adisutjipto building. The test results show that this virtual tour is effective and feasible to use, with a user satisfaction rate reaching 87.72%. This study contributes to the field of educational virtual technology by offering a more immersive and interactive experience. Users can easily explore the ITD Adisutjipto building virtually and obtain the information they need efficiently. This research is expected to be an innovative solution to introduce the ITD Adisutjipto to wider community, as well as support learning and research activities in the aerospace technology field. © 2024 IEEE.

A liquid jet disintegration phenomenon in the recessed region of a shear coaxial injector was examined to find the relation between the difference of the recess depth and flow instability which may induce combustion instability of liquid rocket engines. An injector with a rectangular cross section and a recess for a central post, which modeled the shear coaxial injector element employed in liquid rocket engines, was constructed. The injector was made of transparent acrylic glass to allow observation of the disintegration phenomenon in the recess. Cold-flow tests with water and nitrogen gas with ambient pressures of 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 MPa were conducted. Results showed that a condition arose in which the flow in the recess was choked by two-phase flow. The choked flow was accompanied by vibration of the central post which caused a significant change of the disintegration pattern from moderate disintegration to violent disintegration. A similar transition from a fiber-type flow to a super-pulsating disintegration flow reported by Chigier and Reitz was also observed under non-choked conditions for a coaxial injector without a recessed region. The boundary of the transition was found to depend on certain values of Re L/(WeG)0.5 for each recess depth, including the two-phase choked flow condition. This means that the transition from a fiber-type flow to super-pulsating disintegration leads to the transition from a non-choked flow to a choked flow. © 2009 by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Inc.

Sparse synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging allows for a reduction in the azimuth sampling rate based on compressive sensing theory. However, it relies on the sparsity of scenes, which can lead to significant azimuth ambiguity. To address this issue, we introduce a novel network designed to suppress azimuth ambiguity for sparse SAR imaging. Our proposed deep unfolded network is based on the Iterative Thresholding Algorithm Learned (LISTA). We replace the observation matrix with Matched Filter (MF) operators to reduce computational complexity. Experiments with real SAR scene data demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our approach in suppressing azimuth ambiguity. © VDE VERLAG GMBH ∙ Berlin ∙ Offenbach.

This article presents a novel efficient method for gridless line spectrum estimation problems with single snapshot and sparse signals, namely the gradient descent least-squares (GDLS) method. Conventional single-snapshot (a.k.a. single-measure vector or SMV) line spectrum estimation methods either rely on smoothing techniques that sacrifice the range and/or azimuth resolution or adopt the sparsity constraint and utilize the compressed sensing (CS) method by defining prior grids and resulting in the off-grid problem. Recently emerged atomic norm minimization (ANM) methods achieved gridless SMV line spectrum estimation, but its computational complexity is extremely high;thus, it is practically infeasible in real applications with large problem scales. Our proposed GDLS method reformulates the line spectrum estimations problem into a least-squares (LSs) estimation problem and solves the corresponding objective function via a gradient descent algorithm in an iterative fashion with efficiency. The convergence guarantee, computational complexity, and performance analysis for evenly distributed antenna array cases are discussed in this article. Numerical simulations show that the proposed GDLS algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art methods, for example, CS and ANM, in terms of estimation performances. It can completely avoid the off-grid problem, and its computational complexity is significantly lower than ANM. Our method has been tested in tomographic SAR (TomoSAR) imaging applications via simulated and real experimental data. Results show the great potential of the proposed method in terms of better cloud point performance and eliminating the gridding effect. © 1980-2012 IEEE.
