We introduce the concept of Miura maps between parameter-dependent algebraic curves of hyper-elliptic type. Maximal quantum interaction between free electrons and photons

The emerging field of free-electron quantum optics enables electron-photon entanglement and holds the potential for generating nontrivial photon states for quantum information processing. Although recent experimental studies have entered the quantum regime, rapid theoretical developments predict that qualitatively unique phenomena only emerge beyond a certain interaction strength. It is thus pertinent to identify the maximal electron-photon interaction strength and the materials, geometries, and particle energies that enable one to approach it. We derive an upper limit to the quantum vacuum interaction strength between free electrons and single-mode photons, which illuminates the conditions for the strongest interaction. Crucially, we obtain an explicit energy selection recipe for electrons and photons to achieve maximal interaction at arbitrary separations and identify two optimal regimes favoring either fast or slow electrons over those with intermediate velocities. We validate the limit by analytical and numerical calculations on canonical geometries and provide near-optimal designs indicating the feasibility of strong quantum interactions. Our findings offer fundamental intuition for maximizing the quantum interaction between free electrons and photons and provide practical design rules for future experiments on electron-photon and electron-mediated photon-photon entanglement. They should also enable the evaluation of key metrics for applications such as the maximum power of free-electron radiation sources and the maximum acceleration gradient of dielectric laser accelerators. © 2024, CC BY.

As we enter the post-Moore era, we experience the rise of various non-von-Neumann-architectures to address the increasing computational demand for modern applications, with quantum computing being among the most prominent and promising technologies. However, this development creates a gap in current computer science curricula since most quantum computing lectures are strongly physics-oriented and have little intersection with the remaining curriculum of computer science. This fact makes designing an appealing course very difficult, in particular for non-physicists. Furthermore, in the academic community, there is consensus that quantum computers are going to be used only for specific computational tasks (e.g., in computational science), where hybrid systems - combined classical and quantum computers - facilitate the execution of an application on both quantum and classical computing resources. A hybrid system thus executes only certain suitable parts of an application on the quantum machine, while other parts are executed on the classical components of the system. To fully exploit the capabilities of hybrid systems and to meet future requirements in this emerging field, we need to prepare a new generation of computer scientists with skills in both distributed computing and quantum computing. To bridge this existing gap in standard computer science curricula, we designed a new lecture and exercise series on Hybrid Quantum-Classical Systems, where students learn how to decompose applications and implement computational tasks on a hybrid quantum-classical computational continuum. While learning the inherent concepts underlying quantum systems, students are obligated to apply techniques and methods they are already familiar with, making the entrance to the field of quantum computing comprehensive yet appealing and accessible to students of computer science.

The goal of building a system for precise time measurement in pixel radiation detectors motivates the development of flexible design and verification environment. It should be suitable for quick simulations when individual elements of the system are developed and should be scalable so that systemlevel verification is possible as well. The approach presented in this paper is to utilize the power of SystemVerilog language and apply basic Object-Oriented Programming concepts to the test program. Since the design under test is a full-custom mixed-signal design, it must be simulated with AMS simulator and various features of analog design environment are used as well (Monte Carlo analysis, corner analysis, schematic capture GUI-related functions). The presented approach combines these two worlds and should be suitable for small academia projects, where design and verification is seldom done by separate teams.

Two distinct optical fibers for endoscope-based configurations are demonstrated and studied in this work. The fibers used for the experiment consist of: a conventional singlemode fiber (SMF 28e) and a hollow core photonic crystal fiber (HC-PCF) based on silica. Two studies that allowed the characterization of these fibers, according to their optical output power and when subjected to curvature, were carried out. The intensity power profile was also analysed in relation to the propagation distance, transversal displacement and incidence angle. After this study it can be concluded that the most suitable solution for the endoscope is the HC-PCF fiber working as a transmission probe. For the proof of concept of the fiber-based endoscope, a cleaved multimode fiber (MMF) tip was used as a reception probe and its reflection efficiency was also analysed. © 2021 IEEE.

This article discusses the utilization of a dual polarization antenna on a perpendicular strip line, including a fractal narrow slit, for a global positioning system (GPS), 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE), and a 5G communication network. The proposed antenna consists of a perpendicular strip line that couples the electromagnetic field to a fractal narrow slit, allowing resonance at frequencies of 1.74 GHz and 2.675 GHz. Additionally, it has the capability to facilitate circular polarization for GPS applications and linear polarization for 4G&5G communication networks. The proposed antenna has an impedance characteristic of essentially 22.41% and 9.40% for S11 at frequencies of 1.74 GHz and 2.675 GHz, respectively. At 1.575 GHz, 1.74 GHz, and 2.675 GHz, the antenna's identified peak gains are approximately 2.3 dBi, 2.8 dBi and 3.86 dBi, respectively. Moreover, the proposed antenna has the capability to generate a radiation pattern that propagates in two opposing directions, enabling the efficient exploitation of both GPS and 4G&5G communication network.

Abstract: The present paper proposes the theoretical study and mathematical approach of laser induced cavitation microbubble during lithotripsy process in soft tissue. The mathematical model is constructed via the potential function and Lagrangian equation of radial and translational dynamics of microbubble. The given model of laser-induced cavitation microbubble (as like Rayleigh–Plesset equation) is analytically solved and investigated via Plesset–Zwick method to investigate the behaviour of laser-induced cavitation microbubble and energy produced by laser-induced cavitation microbubble during lithotripsy in soft tissue. From our results, we get the energy produced by laser-induced cavitation bubble increases with increasing of the time and decreasing of the parameter Kexp which is calculated experimentally. The present mathematical approach and its analytical results are satisfied by comparing with the published experimentally results. © 2022, Allerton Press, Inc.

We present the initial stages of development of a Finite Element Method-based time-dependent elastic numerical model which seeks to support the employment of our Optical Coherence Elastography system for assessing murine retinal elasticity. The current model is able to reconstruct displacement maps in both homogeneous and heterogeneous domains with errors up to a few hundredths relatively to a known exact displacement map, within 1 millisecond. The results demonstrate the robustness of the numerical algorithm under different elastic domains, and model parametrization with real Optical Coherence Elastography data is already in progress.

While entanglement between distant parties has been extensively studied, entangled measurements have received relatively little attention despite their significance in understanding nonlocality and their central role in quantum computation and networks. We present a systematic study of entangled measurements, providing a complete classification of all equivalence classes of iso-entangled bases for projective joint measurements on two qubits. The application of this classification to the triangular network reveals that the elegant joint measurement, along with white noise, is the only measurement resulting in output permutation invariant probability distributions when the nodes are connected by Werner states. The paper concludes with a discussion of partial results in higher dimensions.

This article aims to explore and examine general soliton solutions within the context of the generalized Benjamin-Bona-Mahony equation. This equation is a significant mathematical tool employed in the study of wave dynamics in ocean physics. In this paper, we investigate and generate new propagating soliton solutions for the above-mentioned equation using the (ϕ′/ϕ) − expansion method, an elegant mathematical approach. Rational, trigonometric, and hyperbolic functions are used to express these solutions. In order to provide a visual comprehension of the complex physical phenomena regulating the system, we additionally demonstrate graphics in two and three dimensions. The study explores a range of parameter configurations that yield distinct soliton solutions. By visually depicting these solutions based on specific parameter choices, a deeper comprehension of the system's complex behavior is achieved. The article sheds light on novel findings concerning soliton solutions for the mentioned equation, unveiling previously unnoticed aspects of this captivating mathematical problem. © 2023 The Author(s)
