The Jagiellonian Positron Emission Tomograph (J-PET) is a multipurpose device built out of plastic scintillators. With large acceptance and high angular resolution, it is suitable for the studies of various phenomena such as discrete symmetries in decay of positronium atom or entangled states of photons as well as medical imaging. J-PET enables the measurement of momenta together with photon polarization related observables. Large acceptance and high granularity of the J-PET detector enables measurement of ortho-positronium decays into three photons in the whole phase space. In this paper, we present the search of the C-forbidden decays of positronium with the J-PET detector. © 2020 Jagellonian university. All rights reserved.

At leading-order, the standard dilute-dense Color Glass Condensate formula used for two-particle correlations in proton-nucleus collisions, whose symmetries prevent the generation of odd azimuthal anisotropy harmonics, is the dilute projectile limit of the dense-dense formalism. However, when the projectile is genuinely dilute, the complete formulation contains additional contributions at the same leading order in the strong coupling constant. In this work we investigate those low projectile density contributions that are relevant when the particles are produced at forward rapidities. We find that they are responsible for nonzero odd harmonics which are negative, in qualitative agreement with recent experimental measurements at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. Complex economic models often describe the agent's decisions, i.e. choice of some controlled variables in accordance with criteria set by agents. Unlike purely statistical ones, agent-based models allow to describe processes with different modes, in which the agent's behavior changes quali-tatively when the environment (including the actions of other agents) change. The practical use of mathematical models of complex systems with a number of interacting agents is limited by complexity of their construction and possible errors when dealing with multitude of expressions. computer tools, such as the 'Ecomod' system discussed in the article, can substantially reduce the time spent on model creation and processing, and help to coordinate the work of several researchers on the model. © 2023 IEEE.

Robots are frequently utilized in manufacturing, aviation, and other industries, which enhance industrial production efficiency and quality. Specifically, robots perform high-precision tasks like welding, assembly and material handling, which reduce the intensity of manual labor in factories. In the logistics field, robots automatically sort and deliver goods, thereby speeding up supply chain operations. However, the prolonged operation of robots suffers from a decline in positioning accuracy, which makes them unable to satisfy task requirements. To address this challenging issue, this study designs an efficient calibration system integrating the Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm with fuzzy proportion integration differentiation controller and radial basis function neural network. The innovations of this method include: (1) integrating the fuzzy proportion integration differentiation controller into the updating rules of Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm, which further enhances the identification performance of kinematic errors;(2) adopting the radial basis function neural network to handle the robot dynamic errors, which addresses the complexity of dynamic error sources. Extensively experimental robot positioning points are gathered on an HSR JR680 robot, and then experimental validations are conducted by using the designed calibration system. The experiments indicate that the developed algorithm outperforms these existing advanced algorithms. © 2025 Wiley Periodicals LLC.

According to the Standard Model, one of the purely CP-violating process is the never observed KS → 3π0 decay. The best upper limit on the branching ratio of this process BR(KS → 3π0) −8 was obtained in the KLOE experiment using cut-based analysis. In this paper, we show preliminary results of an alternative approach to those studies using multivariate analysis methods. © 2020 Jagellonian university. All rights reserved.

The aim of the research was to develop a polystyrene scintillator for use in the novel time-of-flight Jagiellonian Positron Emission Tomography (J-PET) scanner being elaborated for the whole-body imaging. To achieve this goal, polystyrene-based plastic scintillators with the different chemical compositions were produced and characterized. Light output, decay time and emission spectra were measured to develop the best composition of the polystyrene scintillator. © 2020 Jagellonian university. All rights reserved.

We study fractional Laplace motion (FLM) obtained from subordination of fractional Brownian motion to a gamma process, in the presence of an external drift that acts on the composite process or of an internal drift acting solely on the parental process. We derive the statistical properties of this FLM process and find that the external drift does not influence the mean-squared displacement (MSD), whereas the internal drift leads to normal diffusion, dominating at long times in the subdiffusive Hurst exponent regime. We also investigate the intricate properties of the probability density function (PDF), demonstrating that it possesses a central Gaussian region, whose expansion in time is influenced by FBM’s Hurst exponent. Outside of this region the PDF follows a non-Gaussian pattern. The kurtosis of this FLM process converges toward the Gaussian limit at long times insensitive to the extreme non-Gaussian tails. Additionally, in the presence of the external drift, the PDF remains symmetric and centered at x = vt. In contrast, for the internal drift this symmetry is broken. The results of our computer simulations are fully consistent with the theoretical predictions. The FLM model is suitable for describing stochastic processes with a non-Gaussian PDF and long-ranged correlations of the motion. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We show that there exists an outerplanar graph on O(nc) vertices for c = log2(3 + √10) ≈ 2.623 that contains every tree on n vertices as a subgraph. This extends a result of Chung and Graham from 1983 who showed that there exist (non-planar) n-vertex graphs with O(n log n) edges that contain all trees on n vertices as subgraphs and a result from Gol’dberg and Livshits from 1968 who showed that there exists a universal tree for n-vertex trees on nO(log(n)) vertices. Furthermore, we determine the number of vertices needed in the worst case for a planar graph to contain three given trees as subgraph to be on the order of 3/2n, even if the three trees are caterpillars. This answers a question recently posed by Alecu et al. in 2024. Lastly, we investigate (outer)planar graphs containing all (outer)planar graphs as subgraph, determining exponential lower bounds in both cases. What are the fundamental limits and advantages of using a catalyst to aid thermodynamic transformations between quantum systems? In this work, we answer this question by focusing on transformations between energy-incoherent states under the most general energy-conserving interactions among the system, the catalyst, and a thermal environment. The sole constraint is that the catalyst must return unperturbed and uncorrelated with the other subsystems. More precisely, we first characterise the set of states to which a given initial state can thermodynamically evolve (the catalysable future) or from which it can evolve (the catalysable past) with the help of a strict catalyst. Secondly, we derive lower bounds on the dimensionality required for the existence of catalysts under thermal process, along with bounds on the catalyst's state preparation. Finally, we quantify the catalytic advantage in terms of the volume of the catalysable future and demonstrate its utility in an exemplary task of generating entanglement using thermal resources. © 2024, CC BY.
