The design of 3D-printed lens for ultra-wideband (UWB) slot antenna with flower-shaped stub is presented. This research presents four types of lenses with different shapes i.e., cone lens, semicircle lens, Fresnel lens and hemispherical lens that are mounted on an UWB planar antenna. The effect of these lenses on reflection coefficient, gain, and radiation pattern is proposed. The simulation results show that all four lenses, which are combined with an UWB planar antenna. The operating band of the designed antenna starts at 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. Moreover, using these lenses, the antenna characteristics, e.g., antenna gain, and antenna radiation patterns are enhanced. The average gain at zero degree of the antenna without a lens is 1.94 dBi, while the average gain at the same angle of the antenna with four types of lenses are increased more than 1.1 dBi. Four shaped of the lens, e.g., cone, semicircle, Fresnel, and hemispherical, are selected to modify the gain and radiation pattern of UWB flower-shaped stub antenna. After implement the lens, the gains of the antenna at zero degree are increased to 3.09 dBi, 3.35 dBi, 3.72 dBi, and 5.07 dBi, respectively. In addition, the radiation pattern of the antenna without an additive lens is bi-directional pattern, but when adding a lens, the radiation pattern changes to a unidirectional one. It is found that a hemispherical lens is a good choice for the proposed antenna because it has a higher gain than other lenses. Furthermore, this study is useful for lens selection to enhance UWB antenna performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Graphene with its dispersion relation resembling that of photons offers ample opportunities for applications in electron optics. The spacial variation of carrier density by external gates can be used to create electron waveguides, in analogy to optical fiber, with additional confinement of the carriers in bipolar junctions leading to the formation of few transverse guiding modes. We show that waveguides created by gating graphene with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) allow obtaining sharp conductance plateaus, and propose applications in the Aharonov-Bohm and two-path interferometers, and a pointlike source for injection of carriers in graphene. Other applications can be extended to Bernal-stacked or twisted bilayer graphene or two-dimensional electron gas. Thanks to their versatility, CNT-induced waveguides open various possibilities for electron manipulation in graphene-based devices.

In this work, we investigate the security performance of an underlay cognitive radio network (CRN) with ambient backscatter communication (AmBC), where a backscattering device (BD) shares the spectrum and the receivers with the secondary user. Different from the related work, we consider a secondary user transmitter (ST) with multiple antenna in an AmBC-CRN with multiple receivers and multiple passive eavesdroppers. The ST performs joint antenna-user selection to enhance its security performance and overcome the performance degradation caused by BD interference. Considering the Nakagami-m fading model, closed-form expressions are derived for the secrecy outage probability for both the ST and the BD transmissions. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to validate the derived closed-form expressions. Numerical results show that employing joint antenna-user selection enhances the ST security performance by exploiting antenna and user diversity. © 2024 IEEE.

The studies aimed at the technology for the production of highly effective sorbents which are based on the natural mineral named diatomite. Diatomite is commonly derived in many regions around the world. In Poland, geological analysis was applied to find at least 4 large deposits of diatomite material. One of the diatomite earth mines is situated in an area of Jawornik Ruski in the southern part of Poland. The quantity of diatomite in the deposit was calculated at approximately 10 million tons, therefore its large-scale application can be not only locally, but even globally. In the last few years, diatomite was studied in the order of technological use, e.g. for industry, plant breeding, and different sectors of agriculture. In this article, we present the application potential of diatomite material. At least, diatomite can be efficiently applied to eliminate various toxic spills as a whole and different hazardous substance dissolved in environmental waters. Our results of the analysis also showed economic importance, as the production of good quality sorbents based on locally accessible raw materials could reduce transportation energy and costs, and therefore greatly lower the environmental pressure. Further, the usage of sorbents with improved efficiency can reduce the total quantity of employed raw materials and then lower the amount of sorbents soaked with waste and their recycling. However, the most important step, before the implementation of the final functional material in practice, is a series of analyses that should be carried out to optimize suitable processing parameters for raw material. We present the results of physical and chemical analyses of Jawornik Ruski's diatomite and its great absorption/desorption properties against inorganic chemicals. Further, the effect of grain fraction size of diatomite material and its modification method on the sorption/desorption properties against PO43 - , NO3-, SO42- ions were studied. © 2023 university of Split, FE

In this letter,single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNT)coating was used on the D-shaped silica fiber for ethanol sensing in aqueous *** performance of this structure as an ethanol sensor was studied here by monitoring output power variation and wavelength shift with changing ethanol *** the concentration range of 5%—50%of ethanol,the SWCNT coated structure showed an improved sensitivity compared to the uncoated *** sensitivity is improved from 0.0135 dB/%to 0.0409 dB/%with the *** SWCNT coated sample also showed a peak wavelength shift of 0.1 nm with the change of ethanol concentration in the same range.

Over the years, metal matrix composites (MMCs) have been developed for various industries. In this work, the 718-TiB2 metal-matrix composites were fabricated through suction casting. The composites' microstructure, chemical composition, phase constitution, phase transformation temperatures, and hardness were investigated by scanning and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, thermodynamic simulation, and Vickers microhardness measurements. The results indicated that the MMC composites fabricated through suction casting exhibit a dendritic microstructure with the segregation of strengthening precipitates into interdendritic spaces. The addition of TiB2 particles increased the hardness and ultimate tensile strength. © 2024 75th World Foundry Congress, WFC 2024. All rights reserved.

The improved analysis of carrier transport in the single-layer graphene and hybrid structures like graphene/Co nanoparticles (NPs) and graphene/Co NPs/graphene has been conducted. The temperature and magnetic field dependences of the sheet resistance RSq(T, B) and/or conductivity σSq(T, B) has shown the coexistence of negative (NMR) and positive (PMR) contributions in magnetoresistive effect in all the samples under study. The dependences of RSq(T, B) and/or σSq(T, B) were analysed in the framework of some combinations of 5 models relating to quantum corrections (QCs) to Drude conductivity theory and different hopping models for variable range hopping (VRH) regimes. In this contribution, we improve of the performance of the Rectified Linear Unit Memristor Like Activation Function with the implication to help training process of CNN without a lot of epochs by computing the best value of the flatness network parameter (p). In this regards the flatness network parameter threshold (p) has been investigated and a good performance of the activation function has been discovered at p = 4.5. We firstly used the MNIST and the CIFAR-10 datasets to trained and test the Alex-Net architecture model of convolutional neural network (CNN) and we showed better performances of Rectified Linear Unit Memristor-like Activation Function compared to those of the literature. We noticed that the performance of Alex-Net also improved and the better performance was recorded when p = 4.5 with 99.50%, 99.25%, 98.81% for training, validation and testing accuracy respectively when using the MNIST. These results open the outcome to reduce the training time of neural networks when this activation function is used. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.
