Lampung Province is one of the regions with the highest cocoa production, but many factors can interfere with cocoa production. One of them is the factor of pests and diseases of cocoa that cannot be identified and prevented beforehand. An expert system is a system that adopts expert knowledge or experts in a particular field. However, the diagnosis usually contains uncertainty in the form of answers and statements used. Certainty Factor (CF) algorithm, is one of the algorithms that is able to overcome uncertainty by providing a value for the level of trust from experts and users. However, because the CF value is based on the level of confidence in the symptoms experienced by the user, it creates a problem, namely the consistency of the user's answers. So, it is necessary to make improvements to the CF algorithm, to overcome the inconsistency of user answers through the use of Consistency Ratio (CR). Through the use of CR, inconsistencies are overcome through comparisons between the consistency index and the random index. Based on the results of the accuracy test, the proposed model is able to produce an accuracy rate of 86.67% in the diagnosis of pests and diseases on cocoa plants.

Enhancing field-scale bioremediation of weathered petroleum oil-contaminated soil with biocompost as a bulking agent

The field-scale cleanup of weathered petroleum oil-contaminated soils from the Minas Oil Fields in Indonesia was investigated using landfarming bioremediation technology. Sawdust produced from palm fronds, trunks, and bushes was used as a bulking agent, fermented with manure from cow, goat, and chicken dung as amylolytic and cellulolytic source microflora. Petrophylic bacteria known for their capability to degrade PAH were used as augmented microflora along with stimulated local indigenous microflora overgrown onsite. The findings demonstrated that, albeit at varying rates, the inoculum of native and augmented microflora raised the total colony-forming units (CFU) and the rate at which total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) were degraded in all contaminated soils treated in the soil bioremediation facilities (SBF). After 150 days of bioremediation operation, the bioremediation process for petroleum oil-contaminated soil effectively eliminated 165.79 kg of TPH from 2565 cubic meters of contaminated soil, with a recovery cost of 161 USD per cubic of treated soil. The initial average TPH concentration in the soil was 64,799 ± 9373 mg/kg and decreased to a lower concentration of 163 ± 74 mg/kg after bioremediation was completed. Both native and augmented petrophilic microflora showed significant growth over tenfold, with an average number of colonies at the initial stage of the bioremediation process ranging from 5.9 × 10⁵ to 6.6 × 10⁶ CFU per gram of soil. We show that a practical and affordable bioremediation technique is the onsite production of petrophylic microflora (both native and augmented) and compost from locally available biomass waste. © 2024 The Authors

This research explores the use of a modified infrared (IR) camera equipped with a high-pass filter to distinguish between natural objects (vegetation) and artificial objects (synthetic military uniforms) in an environment where vegetation makes objects difficult to detect. In military operations, especially guerrilla warfare in tropical forests, detecting enemies camouflaged in vegetation makes it difficult to distinguish targeted objects. Visible light cameras usually struggle to distinguish between synthetic and natural colors. This methodology involves the use of Python programming and various libraries, such as Computer Vision (CV), to process images captured by modified cameras. A graphical user interface (GUI) was developed to analyze color values, focusing on the red, green, and blue spectra. The results show that the modified IR camera can more effectively separate synthetic and natural object color peaks compared to a standard visible light camera, offering potential applications in military reconnaissance and sniper operations. This research demonstrates how image processing can improve object detection in complex environments.

This study examines Instagram influencers' social media behavior and providing suggestions for increasing engagement and purchase intentions towards endorsed products via post-effectiveness. Several objectives will be raised in this study: (1) determining the effect of content vividness on social media engagement, (2) determining the impact of social media engagement on purchase intentions, (3) determining the effect of content vividness on purchase intentions. This quantitative study utilizes Partial Least Square (PLS) software as a tool to test validity and reliability and SPSS to test the hypothesis and regression model. With the total of 199 valid respondents participating into this study's survey, the result highlights the positive effects of content vividness in enhancing purchase intentions through mediating variable, namely social media engagement.

Nutmeg oil has an important function as natural tropical biomedicine activity which commonly found in Batang region. This essential oil is one of the dominant traditional export product from Batang instead of patchouli oil, Clove oil, and lemongrass oil. The objective of the research was to analyze chemical compound of essential oil of nutmeg leaves from Batang region produced by traditional destillation. Research methods was conducted by GCMS method. The biomedical activity against some tropical diseases was analysed in-silico. The results showed that essential oil from nutmeg leaves showed potential antimicroabial activities in silico againts several tropical diseases in skin. The GCMS result showed 2-.BETA.-PINENE and .gamma.-Terpinene as the major compound with values 34,46% and 30,28%. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

One of the solutions for fossil fuel crisis is to find alternative energy based on renewable materials. In this research, catalytic cracking of used cooking oil has been investigated to produce biofuel using Cr-charcoal catalyst. The charcoal was produced from solid waste (shell) of palm oil industry. Chromium solutions with various concentrations (1%, 2%, and 3%) were impregnated into charcoal to produce Cr-charcoal catalyst. The catalysts were used for catalytic cracking of used cooking oil at three levels of temperature: 450°C, 500°C and 550°C. The XRD patterns and SEM images of the catalyst showed that the catalyst was in amorphous form. SEM-EDX analysis showed that the Chromium was impregnated into charcoal successfully with amount of Chromium absorbed into charcoal was 0.51%;1.07% and 14.38% respectively. The SEM images also showed that charcoal as supported catalyst and Cr-charcoal catalyst have unique pores. The highest liquid oil fraction was obtained by catalytic cracking at 500°C using 3% Cr-Charcoal catalyst. The liquid product of this process was mainly diesel oil with 8-24 carbon atoms (86.35%) and the rest was liquid product with 6-7 carbon atoms. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Coffee is one of the plantation crops that has long been a cultivated plant in Indonesia. The classification of coffee fruit maturity manually still has several weaknesses and requires a long process, has low accuracy and is inconsistent, this is because the determination is made subjectively by coffee farmers. As for the classification of coffee fruit maturity levels automatically, it can be faster with objective determination, therefore the use of image processing is relatively easier, faster, and based on a quantified descriptive assessment to determine coffee maturity. Image Processing is a method used to process or manipulate images in 2-dimensional form. In the classification process, there are many methods used to obtain classification of objects based on training data. One of the algorithms used for the classification process is K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN). KNN is a classification technique for objects based on training data that is the closest or has similar characteristics to the object. KNN includes supervised learning algorithms, where the results of the new query instance are classified based on the majority of the categories in K-Nearest Neighbors (K-NN). The finding indicated that class classification of ripe and unripe were 88,24 % and 100% respectively with 93,33% accuracy level.

Food industry is one of the three largest waste water sources. Dairy industry is one of major food industry that generates approximately 0.2 - 10 L of wastewater per liter of processed milk. The dairy industry wastewater and its sludge are characterized by high biological oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD) and nutrients level. The most popular facilities for sewage sludge dewatering are filter presses and centrifuges and finally, sludge is used as fertilizer. In another hand, the large proportion of sludge at dairy industry waste water is a potential resource. Dairy sludge contains casein, lactose, fat, and valuable Nitrogen (N), Phosphor (P), Potasium (K), and organic matter. Industrial dairy sludge also predicted to be suitable for another microorganism media such as lactic acid bacteria. This research lays the foundation of the usage of dairy sludge as lactic acid fermentation resource to aim the best method for its COD reduction and pretreatment. The method of COD reduction is adsorption using four-layer media included coarse zeolite adsorbent, sand, fine zeolite, and activated charcoal arranged in 1: 1: 1: 1 ratio and coagulation using Poly Aluminum Chloride (PAC) 5% and Alum Sulfate 5% with 3 replications for each treatment. Then, hydrolyses was done using HCl 21%, H2SO4 1 M and H2SO4 1 M while steamed by autoclave. This research concluded that the best treatment to reduce COD levels in dairy waste is the adsorption method which can reduce COD for 10.8 x 106mg/L. The best hydrolysis method is using H2SO4 1 M that can yielded 17.43% reducing sugar.

Methylcellulose-AgNPs-oat hydrogel as a wound dressing for burn wound

Based on the RISKESDAS in 2018 the prevalence of burns reached 1,3% of the total population of Indonesia and basen on WHO there were 195,000 cases of deaths due to burns every year. One clinical treatment for burns is to use hydrogels as wound dressing. Hydrogel wound dressing functions to absorb wound exudates, by keeping the wound moist. This study was conducted to determine the effect of adding oat extrac to the hydrogel methylcellulose-AgNPs. Hydrogel methylcellulose-AgNPs are mixed with oat extract, with an oat extract concentration of 0 wt%, 0.5 wt%, 1 wt%, 1.5 wt%, and 2 wt%. The characterization carried out included XRD crystallinity test and SEM morphology test for the characterization of AgNPs, and it was found that 10.2% of AgNPs were formed and evenly distributed AgNPs. In addition, characterization of hydrogel wound dressing was carried out which included antibacterial test, cytotoxicity test, swelling test, and antioxidant test. From the results of the analysis it was found that the best variable methylcellulose-AgNPs-oat hydrogel was a sample with an oat concentration of 2 wt%, which had a clear zone diameter of 10.35 mm and was sensitive to bacteria, had a% viability of 2.206%, a swelling value of 71, 7%, and has an antioxidant value of 95%. It shows that the addition of oats can increase the cell viability because oats are antioxidants, so they can counteract the free radicals produced by AgNPs, but the addition of oats increases sensitivity to bacteria because oats also function as antibacterial. Samples with oats of 2 wt% have the best characterization even though they have not met the standard wound dressing.
