This research aims to help the user monitor their heart’s condition and notify other people in case of an emergency due to an abnormal heartbeat (normal heartbeat around 60-100 beats per minute). From the heart rate graph, the user could do a consultation with an expert in the nearest hospital using a map feature that will show the nearest hospital with a 1 KM radius from the user’s current location. The heart is undeniably an essential part of the human body system. The heart's missions are to pump blood to the lungs to expel the waste carbon dioxide that resulted from the respiration and pump blood that will deliver oxygen throughout the human body's circulation system. While the blood that carries oxygen being pumped throughout the human body, the heart will provide the oxygen to all cells. Body cells need to use oxygen to get the energy from food through a process called cellular respiration. Monitoring our heartbeat and pulse rate can increase people’s awareness about their heart’s health, motivating, and encouraging people to maintain a healthy eating plan and exercise. This research will be implemented ECG Sensor. The sensor will then send the data to the android application via HC-06 Bluetooth module. Monitoring the heart rate and analyzing the user’s heartbeat will be done in the android with a microcontroller device's help. © 2020 IEEE.

Optimum wellhead pressure selection in the Hululais geothermal field

The Hululais field, a geothermal field under the management of PT Pertamina Geothermal Energi, will build 2 x 55 Mwe. The first stage is to build 1x55 Mwe, by selecting a certain wellhead pressure from the output curve to be able to fulfill the first phase of development. Researchers try to calculate in order to meet the needs of the first stage by calculating the decrease in fluid enthalpy which is a function of fluid pressure and temperature, the pressure loss profile is obtained from the Beggs and Brill equations and the temperature loss profile from the energy balance law, using two-dimensional Newton Rapson mathematical manipulation, to get pressure and temperature drops simultaneously in a pipe segment. While exergy is useful energy, by looking at the exergy at the wellhead, at the output of the steam separator and the turbine input, the optimum choice of the exergy plot for the three points, the sloping line is chosen. Besides, the power that can be generated by the generator is a function of the enthalpy and mass of the steam. The optimum results are: wellhead pressure C-1, 18.34 bar, E-1 wellhead pressure 18.34 bar, wellhead pressure E-2 has a pressure of 12.26 bar. Two-phase pipes use 16 in to 28 in, on single-phase steam pipes use a diameter of 16 inches to 36 inches, all pipes are coated with 8 cm insulation, using rockwooll insulation, on two-phase pipes, the magnitude of the pressure loss is 0.623 bar, the temperature drop is 1,9083 °C, The distance between the separator and turbine varies, the farthest is 6460 m, the closest is 1824 m. Until the turbine inlet, the incoming steam mass is 94.01 kg/s, the pressure is 8.45 bar, the temperature is 177.4 °C, the exergy price in the turbine is 76.77 MWth, the power that can be generated is 56.431Mwe.

The limitation of subsea pipeline access coupled with limited personnel mobilization due to the COVID-19 pandemic has become a challenge in pipeline inspections. With these limitations, this study’s Inspection Data Management System (IDMS) was carried out by processing data from In Line Inspection-Magnetic Flux Leakage (ILI-MFL) to be developed into digital twin data initiation by simulating anomalies that occur using a potentiodynamic test. The analysis was carried out using the Pipeline Operator Forum (POF) diagram to map the corrosion morphology of the pipeline. Sampling is carried out using pipeline material API 5L-X42 which will form a certain corrosion morphology that represents pinhole, pitting, and general corrosion which is adjusted to the anomalies feature and metal loss depth from pipe tally in the form of length, width, and depth percent of the anomaly to the nominal wall thickness. Potentiodynamic testing was carried out using corrtest instrument 5.0, resulting in tafel polarization to define Resistance of polarization using a stern geary approach. The results are then analyzed to determine the material in resisting damage which shows corrosion rate (for general) and pitting rate (for pitting and pinhole) which is <0.02 mmpy for outstanding, 0.02-0.1 mmpy for excellent, 0.1-0.5 mmpy for good and 0.5-1 mmpy for fair. This digital twin method combined ILI MFL and Potentiodynamic testing to result in the type of anomalies, metal loss depth, dimension of anomalies from the results of the POF diagram, and determination of corrosion rate and pitting rate of API 5L-X42 material in the subsea pipeline.

This research is an approach to intelligent vehicles with a LoRa communication system, LoRaWAN compatible for Long-Range and Outdoor Communication, but in this paper, we will test the ability of LoRa to handle autonomous vehicles, a Blind-Adaptive Data method will be tried on vehicles systems. The system offered is when the vehicle is running, the sensor will send position data in real-time, the number of vehicles is four, and GPS data is sent alternately using the Blind Adaptive Data Rate principle to avoid data collisions, and when the GPS shows a certain position, the value of SF is ascertained, which affects the data rate and ToA, and the output given is RSSI on each car, speed of a car, power consumption of sensor nodes, signal power, SNR, Bit rate or data rate, and sensitivity. With the Blind ADR principle, it is ensured that there is no data collision between car position data that causes packet loss.

The past COVID-19 pandemic has led to a surge in the use of disposable masks, posing a significant environmental challenge due to the swift accumulation of waste. This study explores the potential of pyrolysis to transform this waste into valuable pyrolysis oil with characteristics akin to gasoline, addressing both waste management and energy derivation concerns. Pyrolysis, a thermal decomposition process, was applied to mask materials, producing an oil with a high calorific value of 45.93 MJ/kg. The chemical makeup of this pyrolytic oil was meticulously characterized using Pyrolysis-Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (PY-GC/MS) and Fourier-transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), confirming the presence of hydrocarbons similar to those found in gasoline. Achieving an efficiency of 41.865 %, the pyrolytic approach demonstrated a promising potential for not only managing mask waste but also creating an alternative energy carrier. However, the study advises that before considering this pyrolytic oil for engine use, a thorough evaluation of its combustion quality, engine compatibility, and environmental impact is essential. This investigation advances the discussion on sustainable waste management, offering insights into the generation of alternative fuels from daily waste streams, while also highlighting the necessity for comprehensive analyses to ensure the practicality and efficiency of such novel energy solutions. © 2023 The Author(s)

Rapid and non-destructive measurements to determine the amount of certain compounds in products such as fresh red chilies are still challenging today. Therefore, the objective of this study was to develop a fast and non-destructive calibration model of fresh red chilies for the content of acetic acid, flavonoid, and capsaicin using a combination of visible near-infrared spectroscopy (Vis-NIR) descriptors in the range 380–1065 nm and machine learning regressors including random forest (RF), Ridge, decision tree (DT) and their stacking ensemble learning (SEL). The best calibration model to predict the content of acetic acid and flavonoid compounds is to use SEL, and capsaicin is to use DT. Thus, the proposed model can effectively predict the compound content in fresh red chilies and may have important applications in helping researchers and practitioners assess its quality non-subjectively and non-invasively. © 2024 The Authors

Review on calculation methods for rectangular, trapezoidal, and triangular open channel design

A channel is constructed as a media for water to flow. Phases of plan, design, and construction of a channel require a lot of time, effort, and budget. Design and construction of a channel need to be suited to certain requirements and characteristics of the location. Changes of design parameters often occurred as a result of technical and economical considerations. It leads to changes of channel design to adapt to the new parameters. Hence, the needs of tool to ease the calculation of channel design. This paper reviewed the methods of channel design calculations thoroughly. In channel geometry design calculation, required parameters for channel design calculations are flow (Q), Chezy’s resistance factor (C), Darcy-Weisbach’s coefficient (f), or Manning’s roughness factor (n), and the channel base gradient (i). The objective of this research are channel design calculations and modelling, in addition profide a tool which is practical and easy to use. The methods are Chezy, Darchy-Weisbach, and Manning formula to calculate the design of varied channel type using Microsoft Excel software. Determinations of Chezy’s resistance factor (C), Darcy-Weisbach’s coefficient (f), can be related to Manning’s roughness factor (n) value. Manning’s roughness factor (n) can be estimated from the size of channel bed’s lining material particles (d) using certain formula or define the value dirrectly from Manning’s roughness factor table. This paper also discuss developed a tool for open channel design calculation and modelling“Kalkulator Desain Saluran – FAR”. The writers propose a new formula to estimate Manning’s roughness factor (n) value from the size of channel bed’s lining material particles (d). In addition, the writers propose formulas to directly calculate water level on the channel geometry section (y). The formula include coefficient of α which is based on relations of channel geometry parameters in to the formula of Chezy, Darchy-Weisbach, and Manning.

Biocoagulants have gained attention as an alternative to chemical coagulants in water and wastewater treatment due to their ability to remove pollutant parameters such as turbidity, suspended solids, color, and organic compounds. Plant-based biocoagulants are currently the most promising due to their abundant availability and reliable performance. A proper preparation of plant-based biocoagulants is required to ensure the active compounds from the plants can be extracted. Plant raw materials are prepared into biocoagulants using drying and grinding, extraction, and purification. In mechanical preparation, drying and grinding exhibit great influence on the performance of plant-based biocoagulants due to the removal of moisture and higher contact with the carrier medium during dissolution. A smaller biocoagulant's size resulted in up to 78 % higher removal of turbidity. In chemical preparation, the oil needs to be removed before extracting the active ingredients to avoid low active compound extraction yields. The defatting of Moringa oleifera seeds showed an 18 % higher protein content. Salt and alcohol extractions were mentioned as superior extraction methods to obtain carbohydrate and protein from plant-based biocoagulants compared to water extraction, with up to a 5 % increment in turbidity removal. Preparation and pretreatment protocols have a great influence on the properties and performance of plant-based biocoagulants. Further extension of research on plant-based biocoagulants should address the problems in the initial characterization of plant material, standard pretreatment and preparation protocols, and real-scale application of plant-based biocoagulants. © 2023 The Author(s)

Plastic waste has become the most significant component of marine debris, while research on traces of marine plastic waste related to the condition of Indonesian waters is still limited. Therefore, this study examines the movement patterns of plastic marine debris in Indonesian waters. Simulations were carried out for one year (2013) using the HAMSOM hydrodynamic and Lagrange trajectory. The approach treated the simulated particles as conservative particles floating at sea. Even though the percentage is small (±16%), Indonesia contributes to transboundary marine debris in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the South China Sea due to the influence of the south equatorial currents moving from north and south of Indonesia. Most of the plastic marine debris remains in Indonesian waters (±80-84%) and moves back and forth due to the influence of the monsoon currents. Therefore, the Java Sea becomes a crossing point and accumulates plastic marine debris. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Breadfruit is one alternative carbohydrate source in Indonesia. However, breadfruit is seasonal and climacteric crops;it should be processed immediately to produce flour. Native breadfruit flour has many limitations since it is difficult to be solubilized and swollen in cold water. The flour is modified physically by pregelatinization to improve its properties. Pragelatinized breadfruit flour can be used as instant food, porridge, and baby food. This research is aimed to investigate the effect of slurry concentration (20 and 30%) of native breadfruit flour and rotational speeds (4, 6 and 8 rpm) of double drum drier to the chemical composition and physico-chemical properties of the pregelatinized flours. The results showed that pregelatinization did not influence to the chemical composition. Pregelatinization of the flour improved the water solubility and swelling power on room (30°C) and hot (70°C) solutions, reduced the freeze-thaw stability, caused partial gelatinization which is monitored by losing the birefringence of starch granule, and darkened the flour. The pregelatinization also reduced the gelatinization temperature and had low final viscosity. Low concentration of slurry and low rotation speed of drum increased the gelatinized part of the flour, which is influenced to the cold and hot water solubility. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
