An Optimized Approach to Deep Learning for Botnet Detection and Classification for Cybersecurity in Internet of Things Environment

The recent development of the Internet of Things(IoTs)resulted in the growth of IoT-based DDoS *** detection of Botnet in IoT systems implements advanced cybersecurity measures to detect and reduce malevolent botnets in interconnected *** detection models evaluate transmission patterns,network traffic,and device behaviour to detect deviations from usual *** learning(ML)techniques detect patterns signalling botnet activity,namely sudden traffic increase,unusual command and control patterns,or irregular device *** addition,intrusion detection systems(IDSs)and signature-based techniques are applied to recognize known malware signatures related to *** ML and deep learning(DL)techniques have been developed to detect botnet attacks in IoT *** overcome security issues in an IoT environment,this article designs a gorilla troops optimizer with DL-enabled botnet attack detection and classification(GTODL-BADC)*** GTODL-BADC technique follows feature selection(FS)with optimal DL-based classification for accomplishing security in an IoT *** data preprocessing,the min-max data normalization approach is primarily *** GTODL-BADC technique uses the GTO algorithm to select features and elect optimal feature ***,the multi-head attention-based long short-term memory(MHA-LSTM)technique was applied for botnet ***,the tree seed algorithm(TSA)was used to select the optimum hyperparameter for the MHA-LSTM *** experimental validation of the GTODL-BADC technique can be tested on a benchmark *** simulation results highlighted that the GTODL-BADC technique demonstrates promising performance in the botnet detection process.

Drug–target interactions prediction based on similarity graph features extraction and deep learning

Identifying drug–target interactions (DTIs) is a critical step in both drug repositioning. The labor-intensive, time-consuming, and costly nature of classic DTI laboratory studies makes it imperative to create efficient computer algorithms to forecast possible DTIs. However, current computational approaches that predict potential drug–target interactions (DTIs) suffer from some limitations, like finding the best similarity measures or negative samples, and thus require substantial performance improvement. This study proposes an integrated approach based on feature representation and deep learning to predict DTIs. We extract the relevant features of drugs and proteins from heterogeneous networks using graph mining techniques. The proposed approach constructs a heterogeneous graph from the known drug–protein interactions, protein–protein, and drug–drug similarities. Then applying two feature extraction techniques to extract the features, then utilizing these features in training a deep learning model to predict the potential DTIs. also, a novel algorithm is proposed to find the negative samples based on the drug and protein similarity matrices. Four Benchmark datasets are used to evaluate the proposed approach. Our approach achieves the highest AUC (area under the ROC curve) across all datasets (0.98) with around 2% increases over the existing methods. Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach outperforms the baseline methods in predicting DTI, and our negative sample-identifying algorithm could be established as a competitive solution. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag London Ltd., part of Springer Nature 2024.

Since its discovery, computer technology has played a key role in changing the lifestyles of people and continues to provide countless benefits. Nevertheless, computer technology systems that facilitate smooth integration, such as, cloud computing;are prone to cyber breaches, which has negatively affected its reputation and perception. Therefore, computer technology systems that are secure are needed to curb cyber threats and increase user trust. The primary issue in computer technology systems is that, unlike alternative methods, most cloud access control mechanisms are inadequate. Furthermore, transitioning to a trust-based mechanism is not only complicated and costly but a significantly decision intensive process. As such, this present study investigates how network risks and threats analysis, edge computing and Arbiter, a mandatory access control mechanism, can be integrated into cloud computing to prevent single points of failure. Predicting heart disease based on an intelligent healthcare monitoring system using HPM-NIA

Before a heart attack happens, treating cardiac patients effectively depends on precise heart disease prediction. A heart disease prediction system for the determination of whether the patient has a heart disease condition or not is to be developed. The paper employs a diverse array of models within the heart disease prediction system, each serving a specific purpose to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Data pre-processing techniques, including normalization, standardization, and missing value removal, ensure the quality and consistency of the dataset. Feature extraction methods such as mean, median, standard deviations, and higher-order statistical features contribute to extracting informative features crucial for prediction. The Multi-Objective Forest Particle Swarm Optimization (MOFPSO) algorithm (hybrid version of Forest Optimization (FO) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO)) is introduced for efficient feature selection, balancing predictive accuracy and model complexity. Finally, the prediction model, Naïve Bayes trained with Meliorated Ant Colony Optimization algorithm (NB-MACO), is implemented for its simplicity and effectiveness in handling medical datasets. This integration fine-tunes the Naïve Bayes classifier’s hyperparameters, optimizing its performance and resulting in an accuracy of 91.974%.
