The satisfiability problem (SAT) is one of the NP-complete problems in the fields of theoretical computer and artificial intelligence, is the core of NP-complete problems. Compared with traditional DNA self-assembly, DNA origami is a new method of DNA self-assembly. We first give a description and the status quo of study of the satisfiability problem, briefly introduce the principle of DNA origami, propose the computing model based on DNA origami to solve the satisfiability problem, and solve an instance with 3 variables, 3 clauses to illustrate the feasibility of the algorithm. The proposed model only uses gel electrophoresis to search the solution to the problem, which is the most reliable biological operation known to date, therefore the proposed model is feasible. At present, the reported results concerning using origami to solve the NP-complete problem is relatively few. Our method is a new attempt to solve the NP- complete problem using biological DNA molecules. © 2018, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

With the application of biosensors in environmental monitoring, these features of low sample concentrations and the need for real-time monitoring feedback in environmental monitoring, make the sensor requirements also increasing. High sensitivity, short response time and low cost are the environmental monitoring biological sensors goal. RNA has a high affinity capacity and sensitivity, and has better thermal stability after hybridization. Combined with the characteristics of nano-gold and magnetic particles in this paper, improving material and probe of electrode, propose design ideas of several biosensors with LNA, PNA for RNA viruses in water monitoring to improve biosensors in environmental monitoring of practicality. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd 2017.

A hybrid memory architecture supporting fine-grained data migration

Hybrid memory systems composed of dynamic random access memory(DRAM)and Non-volatile memory(NVM)often exploit page migration technologies to fully take the advantages of different memory *** previous proposals usually migrate data at a granularity of 4 KB pages,and thus waste memory bandwidth and DRAM *** this paper,we propose Mocha,a non-hierarchical architecture that organizes DRAM and NVM in a flat address space physically,but manages them in a cache/memory *** the commercial NVM device-Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory Modules(DCPMM)actually access the physical media at a granularity of 256 bytes(an Optane block),we manage the DRAM cache at the 256-byte size to adapt to this feature of *** design not only enables fine-grained data migration and management for the DRAM cache,but also avoids write amplification for Intel Optane *** also create an Indirect Address Cache(IAC)in Hybrid Memory Controller(HMC)and propose a reverse address mapping table in the DRAM to speed up address translation and cache ***,we exploit a utility-based caching mechanism to filter cold blocks in the NVM,and further improve the efficiency of the DRAM *** implement Mocha in an architectural *** results show that Mocha can improve application performance by 8.2%on average(up to 24.6%),reduce 6.9%energy consumption and 25.9%data migration traffic on average,compared with a typical hybrid memory architecture-HSCC.

Distributed stochastic gradient descent and its variants have been widely adopted in the training of machine learning models,which apply multiple workers in *** them,local-based algorithms,including Local SGD and FedAvg,have gained much attention due to their superior properties,such as low communication cost and ***,when the data distribution on workers is non-identical,local-based algorithms would encounter a significant degradation in the convergence *** this paper,we propose Variance Reduced Local SGD(VRL-SGD)to deal with the heterogeneous *** extra communication cost,VRL-SGD can reduce the gradient variance among workers caused by the heterogeneous data,and thus it prevents local-based algorithms from slow convergence ***,we present VRL-SGD-W with an effectivewarm-up mechanism for the scenarios,where the data among workers are quite *** from eliminating the impact of such heterogeneous data,we theoretically prove that VRL-SGD achieves a linear iteration speedup with lower communication complexity even if workers access non-identical *** conduct experiments on three machine learning *** experimental results demonstrate that VRL-SGD performs impressively better than Local SGD for the heterogeneous data and VRL-SGD-W is much robust under high data variance among workers.

For addressing the problems that the existing data cannot be effectively integrated with the process control decision-making in the digital mine system, a digital twin system for underground locomotive dispatching management is proposed in this work. Firstly, the designed digital twin system has a four-tier system architecture, while the part of theoretical prior model is established by Petri nets, and the actual dispatching is constructed by integrating simulation software and a three-dimensional (3D) virtual mapping for underground mines. Then, the effectiveness of dispatching algorithm and the consistency of twin information are systematically evaluated through the setting of simulation parameters and the access of twin data. The designed digital twin system of underground locomotive dispatching can not only visualize the dispatching system in two directions, but also provide decision-making basis for the safety of locomotive dispatching, which deepen and widen the application scope of digital twin system in the field of intelligent mine construction. © 2022 IEEE.

Large-scale pre-trained models such as GPT and BERT have demonstrated remarkable performance in information extraction tasks. However, their black-box nature poses challenges for reliability and interpretability. In contrast, rule- based extraction methods have better interpretability, but typically require domain experts to manually establish rules, limiting their generalization ability. In industry, there is often a demand for reliable knowledge extraction to reduce the time spent on manual verification of each piece of knowledge. In this paper, we explore the idea of combining GPT and symbolic-based methods to automatically discover reliable extraction patterns in text with a particular writing style. This method leverages the characteristics of high information density and similar writing patterns in text with a specific writing style to generate verifiable and reliable patterns. We conduct experiments on two datasets with a specific writing style to demonstrate its effectiveness, validating the idea of combining large models for reliable information extraction pattern discovery in the tested datasets. © 2023 IEEE.

Efficient selective planar emitters for thermophotovoltaic systems at 1473 K

The development of efficient thermophotovoltaic (TPV) energy conversion systems can significantly address global energy crises and environmental pollution. Selective emitters in TPV systems play a crucial role in converting broad-spectra thermal radiation into narrowband radiation, thus effectively enhancing the energy conversion efficiency of TPV systems. However, achieving selective emitters with superior thermal stability, particularly at temperature above 1273 K, remains a significant challenge. The selective emitter exhibits an exceptional performance with a high in-band emittance of 0.92 under normal incidence, an outstanding emittance over 0.83 at an oblique incidence angle of 60°, as well as excellent thermal stability at 1473 K. The superior performance of the emitter is predominantly attributed to innovative optical design, including the introduction of co-sputtered ultra-high-temperature ceramics composite ceramic layers, thermal barrier layers and surface encapsulation layers. The TPV system combined with a 0.72 eV-GaSb photovoltaic cell, a filter, and the designed emitter, is predicted to achieve an energy conversion efficiency of approximately 27.4 % and a power output of 1.15 W/cm 2 at 1473 K. These findings highlight the potential of the multilayer selective thermal emitters as promising candidates for improving the performance of TPV systems.

Fast radio bursts (FRBs) are fierce radio flashes from the deep sky. Abundant observations have indicated that highly magnetized neutron stars might be involved in these energetic bursts, but the underlying trigger mechanism is still enigmatic. Especially, the widely expected periodicity connected to the spin of the central engine has never been discovered, which leads to further debates on the nature of FRBs. Here we report the first discovery of a ∼ 1.7 s period in the repeating source of FRB 20201124A. This is an active repeater, from which more than 2800 FRBs have been observed on a total of 49 days. The phase-folding method is adopted to analyze the bursts on each day separately. While no periodical signal is found in all other datasets, a clear periodicity does appear on two specific days, i.e. a period of 1.706015(2) s on MJD 59310, and a slightly larger period of 1.707972(1) s on MJD 59347. A period derivative of 6.14 × 10−10 s s−1 can be derived from these two periods, which further implies a surface magnetic field strength of 1.04 × 1015 G and a spin-down age of 44 years for the central engine. It is thus concluded that FRB 20201124A should be associated with a young magnetar. © 2025, CC BY.
