We investigate the evolutionary prisoner＇s dilemma game （PDG） on weighted Newman-Watts （NW） networks. In weighted NW networks, the link weight ωij is assigned to the link between the nodes i and j as： ωij = （ki · kj）^β, where ki（kj） is the degree of node i（j） and β represents the strength of the correlations. Obviously, the link weight can be tuned by only one parameter β. We focus on the cooperative behavior and wealth distribution in the system. Simulation results show that the cooperator frequency is promoted by a large range of β and there is a minimal cooperation frequency around β = -1. Moreover, we also employ the Gini coefficient to study the wealth distribution in the population. Numerical results show that the Gini coefficient reaches its minimum when β≈ -1. Our work may be helpful in understanding the emergence of cooperation and unequal wealth distribution in society.

In evolutionary multi-objective optimization, the results generated by an evolutionary algorithm usually contain an approximation, as good as possible, of the entire Pareto-optimal front. However, sometimes the number of Pareto-optimal solutions may be so large that the decision maker (DM) is incapable of manipulating or understanding them. Methods for considering only the Pareto-optimal solutions that the DM prefers indeed constitute a hot research topic in the evolutionary computation field. In this paper, we introduce a new dominance relation called hat g-dominance, which is an improved version of the g-dominance relation and can be easily implemented in traditional multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. In this work, the proposed hat g-dominance is implemented in NSGA-II. Our experimental results show the effectiveness of hat g-NSGA-II with respect to the original g-NSGA-II. © 2019 IEEE.

Cache plays an important role in multilevel storage system. It can greatly reduce the memory access latency. So the cache hit rate has a significant impact on the performance of the application. Many processors provide cache locking mechanism, which can lock the certain lines in cache. It enables an application to affect the cache replacement decisions under software control. This paper presents a novel method, which uses cache locking mechanism to reduce the run-time of java virtual machine (JVM). JVM often uses just-in-time compiler (JIT) to improve the performance. JIT compiles the method that has been invoked certain times, and then JVM executes the compiled method when invoking this method the next time. This paper analyzes the calling situation of the compiled method in JVM, and then proposes a heuristic approach to lock the compiled method in cache for an appropriate period. It can reduce cache miss rate when JVM executes the compiled method. The algorithm has been implemented in HotSpot based on Loongson-3A. Also, it can be implemented in other run-time systems. Experiment results show that the cache locking heuristic algorithm averagely reduces the cache miss rate by 8.5%, and improves the performance by 4% on the benchmark SPECjvm2008. © 2013 IEEE.

The limitation of the existing methods of traffic data collection is that they rely on techniques that are strictly local in nature. The airborne system in unmanned aircrafts provides the advantages of wider view angle and higher mobility. However, detecting vehicles in airborne videos is a challenging task because of the scene complexity and platform movement. Most of the techniques used in stationary platforms cannot perform well in this situation. A new and efficient method based on Bayes model is proposed in this paper. This method can be divided into two stages, attention focus extraction and vehicle classification. Experimental results demonstrated that, compared with other representative algorithms, our method obtained better performance with higher detection rate, lower false positive rate and faster detection speed. © 2011 IEEE.

Airborne vehicle detection and tracking systems equipped on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are difficult to develop because of factors like UAV motion, scene complexity and so on. In this paper, we propose a new framework of multi-motion layer analysis to detect and track moving vehicles in airborne platform. Moving vehicles are firstly detected by registration and temporal differencing to establish motion layers. After motion layers are constructed, they are maintained over time for tracking vehicles. All vehicles are tracked by maintaining their corresponding motion layers. Our experimental results showed that compared with other previous algorithms, our method can achieve better results in terms of detection and tracking performance. © 2011 IEEE.

Based on the QSIM reasoning of Kuipers, comparative constraint is presented to reduce the diagnosis space. The transfer regulation of qualitative constrain is used in the simulation and reasoning of system diagnosis. This arithmetic takes observed faulty state as the beginning, to diagnosis the discrepancy of variable and location of the causation according to the transfer regulation of qualitative constraint, reasons from faulty diagnosed to examine the result and delete the redundancy of diagnosis result. In the example of Condensation refrigeration system, the constraint relation is built according to qualitative difference equation. Aim at the bad efficiency of refrigeration, the mixture of air or Freon superfluously is diagnosed as the result faulty source, is consistent with the factual system. © 2012 IEEE.

Scalable video coding (SVC), together with adaptive modulation and coding (AMC), can improve wireless multicast streaming video by jointly performing radio resource allocation and modulation and coding scheme (MCS) selection. However, the existing schemes in the literature allocate radio resources for different video layers separately, which leads to a waste of radio resources. In this work, we introduce the notion of joint layer resource allocation which allows to jointly allocate resources to multiple video layers that are assigned the same MCS. We formulate this problem and prove it to be NP-hard. Then we develop a pseudo-polynomial algorithm that finds the optimal total system utility. Our algorithm assumes a very generic utility function and flexible video layer rates. To reduce the complexity of the algorithm, we also propose Fully Polynomial Time Approximation Schemes (FPTAS) for the same problem. Simulation results show that our optimal algorithm offers significant improvement on system utility over a previous optimal algorithm and a greedy algorithm both of which do not support joint layer resource allocation. The proposed approximation algorithm provides controllable tradeoff between performance and computational complexity and, with appropriately chosen parameters, it outperforms the greedy algorithm with 40% less running time. © 2010 IEEE.

At present, moving vehicle detection on airborne platform has been an important technology for urban traffic surveillance. In such a situation, most commonly used methods (e.g. image subtraction) could hardly work well because of some additional difficulties such as slow movement of vehicles and jam. This paper proposed a new moving vehicle detection method named MVD-RD for airborne urban traffic surveillance. First, the non-road regions are extracted using road detection technique. Secondly, the non-road regions with no vehicles are removed according to their size. As a result of this two-stage regions shrinkage, the detection area reduces a lot. Finally, to the reduced area, image subtraction is used to get all moving regions and then moving vehicles can be accurately filtered in a simple way. The experimental results show that, compared with traditional image subtraction methods used in airborne moving vehicle detection, the proposed MVD-RD method achieves much better performance in detection rate, false alarm rate, and detection speed. © 2008 IEEE.

The negative database (NDB) is a new technique for privacy preserving and information hiding. It hides information by storing the complementary set instead of the original data. In order to protect the hidden information, NDBs should be hard-to-reverse. In this paper, we propose the Khidden algorithm for generating hard-to-reverse NDBs (called Khidden-NDBs). The K-hidden algorithm could be controlled in a more fine-grained manner than existing NDB generation algorithms. Moreover, in terms of the SAT solvers based on the local search strategy, we formally prove that the K-hidden-NDBs could be more hard-to-reverse than the NDBs generated by the typical p-hidden algorithm. Furthermore, we show that the Khidden-NDB could be more hard-to-reverse (against the local search strategy) than the q-hidden-NDB (NDBs generated by the q-hidden algorithm) when the sizes of NDBs are the same. Finally, as for the Unit Clause heuristic solvers, we prove that the K-hidden-NDB could be the same hard-to-reverse as the qhidden-NDB. © 2015 IEEE.
