New Framework for Code-Mapping-based Reversible Data Hiding in JPEG Images

Code mapping (CM) is an efficient technique for reversible data hiding (RDH) in JPEG images, which embeds data by constructing a mapping relationship between the used and unused codes in the JPEG bitstream. This study presents a new framework for designing a CM-based RDH method. First, a new code mapping strategy is proposed to suppress file size expansion and improve applicability. Based on our proposed strategy, the mapped codes are redefined by creating a new Huffman table rather than selecting them from the unused codes in the original Huffman table. The critical issue of designing the CM-based RDH method, that is, constructing code mapping, is converted into a combinatorial optimization problem. This study proposes a novel CM-based RDH method that utilizes a genetic algorithm (GA). The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a high embedding capacity with no signal distortion while suppressing file size expansion. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. The mass adoption of autonomous driving and Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) technologies increases the complexity and maintenance cost of automotive-embedded software during model-based development. Through model-based development tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink), the code is automatically generated by architectural transformation;however, unreasonable software architecture design could make the final generated code be difficult to maintain. Currently, both Microsoft Maintainability Index (MMI) and Bosch Maintainability Index (BMI) are used to measure the maintainability of code, but neither software architecture. We establish a four-layer maintainability index model by analyzing the characteristics of automotive software architecture, software quality model, and industry-related standards. We then propose a Two-dimensional Maintainability Index (TMI), meaning the code and architecture dimensions are simultaneously considered. This is the first work of maintainability measurement to combine code and architecture dimensions while ensuring low redundancy. TMI utilizes nine index metrics to guide architecture refactoring and code optimization, significantly improving software maintainability. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

The negative survey is an emerging method of collecting sensitive information. It could obtain the distribution of sensitive information while preserving the personal privacy. When collecting sensitive information, several questions are often provided together to the respondents. However, when reconstructing positive survey results of multiple questions, previous reconstruction methods have some shortcomings. In this paper, we propose a new reconstruction method for multi-question negative surveys. Experimental results show that our method could obtain more reasonable results. © Springer International Publishing AG, part of Springer Nature 2018.

One of the most popular method for Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis is exploring the Brain functional connectivity (FC) from resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (RS-fMRI). To early prevent AD, it is crucial to distinguish AD and and its preclinical stage, mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and early MCI (eMCI). In many existing works, dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) which contains rich spatiotemporal information has been exploited for the MCI and eMCI identification. However, most of these dFC based methods only consider the correlation between discrete brain status while ignore the valuable spatiotemporal information contained in dFC. To overcome this limitation, we propose a matrix classifier based method on the dFC signal for MCI and eMCI identification. Specifically, we first represent the dFC correlations by matrix features which contain rich spatiotemporal information and then learn the support matrix machines (SMM) to classify AD and its preclinical stage. Experiments on 600 real people data provide by the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) demonstrate that our proposed matrix classifier based method outperforms other FC and dFC based methods for both normal controls (NC)/MCI identification and NC/eMCI identification.

Domain generalization (DG) aims to solve the problem of significant performance degradation when target domain data collected from the Out-Of-Distribution (O.O.D). Previous efforts try to exploit invariant features in the source domain through CNN networks. However, inspired by causal mechanisms, we find that the complex spurious-invariant information is still hidden in this view invariant features, and the impact of domain and class discrepancies on extracting invariance has not been effectively mitigated. To alleviate these issues, we propose a self-weighted multi-view mining invariance domain generalization framework (SMIDG). On the one hand, to make up for the insufficiency of traditional single-view convolutional feature extraction networks, we propose to mine features from another frequency view and use the self-adaptive adversarial masks to eliminate some spurious correlations, ensuring causal invariance in the coarse-grained generalization. However, due to inconsistencies in discriminative information between interdomain and intra-domain samples, as well as inter-class and intra-class samples, the coarse-grained elimination of spurious associations does not fully resolve this issue. On the other hand, we also consider the fine-grained generalization from two aspects. Firstly, to better tackle the domain discrepancies, we propose a novel progressive contrastive learning strategy that learns the underlying specific features of samples while gradually mitigating domain discrepancies, thereby ensuring domain invariance in fine-grained generalization. Secondly, due to the issue of feature inconsistency, we adopt a self-adaptive hard sample mining method with information gain to ensure that the model pays more attention on hard disentangled samples, thus maintaining feature invariance. Extensive experiments on five benchmark datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms state-of-the-art approaches. © 1992-2012 IEEE.

There are many dynamic optimization problems in real-world applications. Although many variants of evolutionary algorithms and swarm intelligence have been proposed to solve such problems, little work has been conducted to address the dynamic constrained multimodal optimization problems (DCMMOPs). In DCMMOPs, there exist multiple optimal solutions corresponding to each environment that the algorithm is required to find. Sometimes, it is also necessary to identify the accepted local optima. Therefore, for each environment, the decision maker can select one from among multiple returned solutions according to his/her domain knowledge and/or preferences. The objective of this paper is to test the performance of various combinations of several population-based dynamic multimodal optimization algorithms and popular constraint handling techniques. First, the typical dynamic constrained optimization problems are slightly modified to be in the form of the dynamic constrained multimodal optimization problems. Second, four different population-based dynamic multimodal optimization algorithms, and five different constraint handling techniques, are pairwise tested in the experiments. Experimental results demonstrate that, among the candidates, DCMM-CSA-SR performs most successfully at all accuracy levels.

Optimal puncturing of polar codes with a fixed information set

For a given polar code construction, the existing literature on puncturing for polar codes focuses in finding the optimal puncturing pattern, and then re-selecting the information set. This paper devotes itself to find the optimal puncturing pattern when the information set is fixed. Puncturing the coded bits corresponding to the worst quality bit channels, called the worst quality puncturing (WQP), is proposed, which is analyzed to minimize the bit channel quality loss at the punctured positions. Simulation results show that WQP outperforms the best existing puncturing schemes when the information set is fixed. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

—With the rapid development of technology and the acceleration of digitalisation, the frequency and complexity of cyber security threats are increasing. Traditional cybersecurity approaches, often based on static rules and predefined scenarios, are struggling to adapt to the rapidly evolving nature of modern cyberattacks. There is an urgent need for more adaptive and intelligent defence strategies. The emergence of Large Language Model (LLM) provides an innovative solution to cope with the increasingly severe cyber threats, and its potential in analysing complex attack patterns, predicting threats and assisting real-time response has attracted a lot of attention in the field of cybersecurity, and exploring how to effectively use LLM to defend against cyberattacks has become a hot topic in the current research field. This survey examines the applications of LLM from the perspective of the cyber attack lifecycle, focusing on the three phases of defense reconnaissance, foothold establishment, and lateral movement, and it analyzes the potential of LLMs in Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) tasks. Meanwhile, we investigate how LLM-based security solutions are deployed and applied in different network scenarios. It also summarizes the internal and external risk issues faced by LLM during its application. The desire to share and unite remote digital assets motivated the development of the classical internet, the enabler of the entire 21st century economy and our modern way of life. As we enter the quantum era, it is to be expected there will be a similar demand for networking quantum assets, motivating a global quantum internet for bringing together the world's quantum resources, leveraging off their exponential trajectory in capability. We present models for quantum networking, how they might be applied in the future, and the implications they will have. Socially, economically, politically and geostrategically, the upcoming era of quantum supremacy will be as significant for the 21st century as the transistor was for the 20th. The inherently different scaling in the computational power of quantum computers fundamentally changes the dynamics of how they will operate in the future. Given their high expected initial cost, a client/server model for outsourcing computation will be essential for enabling the accessibility and proliferation of this technology, and ensuring its economic viability. We therefore anticipate the emergence of cloud quantum computing, a model for outsourcing quantum computations to the network. We argue that economic efficiency will mandate that all future quantum computers be united into a single global virtual quantum computer, offering exponentially more power to all network participants than if they were to keep their resources to themselves. This model for the allocation of computational resources is uniquely quantum, with no classical analogue, completely altering the economic landscape for the future of computation. Given the sensitivity of much of the data to which future quantum computers are going to foreseeably be applied, protocols for encrypted quantum computation will be essential - the outsourcing of computations that neither an eavesdropper nor even the server performing the computation can spy upon.
