Cache plays an important role in multilevel storage system. It can greatly reduce the memory access latency. So the cache hit rate has a significant impact on the performance of the application. Many processors provide cache locking mechanism, which can lock the certain lines in cache. It enables an application to affect the cache replacement decisions under software control. This paper presents a novel method, which uses cache locking mechanism to reduce the run-time of java virtual machine (JVM). JVM often uses just-in-time compiler (JIT) to improve the performance. JIT compiles the method that has been invoked certain times, and then JVM executes the compiled method when invoking this method the next time. This paper analyzes the calling situation of the compiled method in JVM, and then proposes a heuristic approach to lock the compiled method in cache for an appropriate period. It can reduce cache miss rate when JVM executes the compiled method. The algorithm has been implemented in HotSpot based on Loongson-3A. Also, it can be implemented in other run-time systems. Experiment results show that the cache locking heuristic algorithm averagely reduces the cache miss rate by 8.5%, and improves the performance by 4% on the benchmark SPECjvm2008. © 2013 IEEE.

The negative database (NDB) is a new technique for privacy preserving and information hiding. It hides information by storing the complementary set instead of the original data. In order to protect the hidden information, NDBs should be hard-to-reverse. In this paper, we propose the Khidden algorithm for generating hard-to-reverse NDBs (called Khidden-NDBs). The K-hidden algorithm could be controlled in a more fine-grained manner than existing NDB generation algorithms. Moreover, in terms of the SAT solvers based on the local search strategy, we formally prove that the K-hidden-NDBs could be more hard-to-reverse than the NDBs generated by the typical p-hidden algorithm. Furthermore, we show that the Khidden-NDB could be more hard-to-reverse (against the local search strategy) than the q-hidden-NDB (NDBs generated by the q-hidden algorithm) when the sizes of NDBs are the same. Finally, as for the Unit Clause heuristic solvers, we prove that the K-hidden-NDB could be the same hard-to-reverse as the qhidden-NDB. © 2015 IEEE.

In the process of supply chain (SC) management, time inventory management problem is extremely important. In terms of academic methods, quantitative methods are very popular as the researchers could calculate the inventory if they got the historic data of some SC. However, based on quantitative methods and the results cannot too be convincible. This paper considered a supply chain system includes several kinds of products. As to the historic suppliers' demand data of this SC system, firstly we applied a quantitative forecasting analysis method to it;secondly we made a qualitative analysis to improve the complex system's inventory management performance. According to the comparison between quantitative method and the method used in this paper, we find that the accuracy is more perfect. Not only the inventory cost is lower, also the forecasting accuracy is better. © 2010 IEEE.

Facial Action Unit Recognition Enhanced by Text Descriptions of FACS

Although the descriptions of facial action units (AUs) provide crucial semantic knowledge for representation learning from facial images, they have not been fully explored for facial action unit recognition. In this paper, we propose a method that effectively explores the knowledge existing in AU descriptions to enhance AU recognition. Specifically, the proposed method consists of three components, i.e. AU recognition network, global representation alignment, and AU representation alignment. The AU recognition network extracts global features and AU-specific features for AU prediction from images. To leverage AU textual descriptions fully, we design two-level representation alignment for AU recognition. The global representation alignment component closes the distance between the global facial features and its corresponding positive global embedding extracted from textual descriptions. Then, the AU-specific features are aligned with the positive AU textual embedding by the AU representation alignment component. Negative textual embedding generation strategies are also designed to further boost the two-level representation alignment. Through the two-level alignment, AU textual descriptions guide image representation learning of the AU recognition network. Experiments on two benchmark datasets and one in-the-wild dataset demonstrate the efficacy of the description-enhanced AU recognition method, compared with the state-of-the-art works. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

This paper studied the relationships between color attributes and emotional dimensions by classification based on associations. First psychological experiments were designed to gather users' emotional response to color images. 52 color samples chosen from CIE lab Lch color spaces were displayed on the screen. 20 subjects were asked to report their emotional response in the form of valence and arousal on the Self-Assessment Manikin. Secondly, after preprocessing 42 cases were used to train by classification based on associations to find rules between color attributes and emotional dimensions. Then these rules were used to predict subjects' emotional response to a new color. A good result was obtained with correct prediction rate of 90.00% for arousal and 80.00% for valence. © 2008 IEEE.

Appropriate dealing with boundary conditions is very important for SPH. Current boundary treatment methods like boundary force method, ghost particle method and virtual boundary layer method, when dealing with complex boundaries, they will have to compute much on putting external particles. For resolving this problem, we propose a new method assuming part of boundary surface instead of external particles, called effective force surface, directly repels the internal particles which approach sufficiently close. We call this new method EFS method. It is implemented in the SPH model for simulating fluid in rabbit-type cup and dam-breaking. In the former case, liquid flows vividly and no internal particles penetrate boundaries. In the latter case, the result is similar to existing result. The experimental results show that EFS method can effectively and precisely deal with complex boundary conditions.

The limitation of the existing methods of traffic data collection is that they rely on techniques that are strictly local in nature. The airborne system in unmanned aircrafts provides the advantages of wider view angle and higher mobility. However, detecting vehicles in airborne videos is a challenging task because of the scene complexity and platform movement. Most of the techniques used in stationary platforms cannot perform well in this situation. A new and efficient method based on Bayes model is proposed in this paper. This method can be divided into two stages, attention focus extraction and vehicle classification. Experimental results demonstrated that, compared with other representative algorithms, our method obtained better performance with higher detection rate, lower false positive rate and faster detection speed. © 2011 IEEE.

Airborne vehicle detection and tracking systems equipped on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are difficult to develop because of factors like UAV motion, scene complexity and so on. In this paper, we propose a new framework of multi-motion layer analysis to detect and track moving vehicles in airborne platform. Moving vehicles are firstly detected by registration and temporal differencing to establish motion layers. After motion layers are constructed, they are maintained over time for tracking vehicles. All vehicles are tracked by maintaining their corresponding motion layers. Our experimental results showed that compared with other previous algorithms, our method can achieve better results in terms of detection and tracking performance. © 2011 IEEE.

Based on the QSIM reasoning of Kuipers, comparative constraint is presented to reduce the diagnosis space. The transfer regulation of qualitative constrain is used in the simulation and reasoning of system diagnosis. This arithmetic takes observed faulty state as the beginning, to diagnosis the discrepancy of variable and location of the causation according to the transfer regulation of qualitative constraint, reasons from faulty diagnosed to examine the result and delete the redundancy of diagnosis result. In the example of Condensation refrigeration system, the constraint relation is built according to qualitative difference equation. Aim at the bad efficiency of refrigeration, the mixture of air or Freon superfluously is diagnosed as the result faulty source, is consistent with the factual system. © 2012 IEEE.

Linguistic Steganalysis Based on Meta Features and Immune Mechanism

Linguistic steganalysis depends on efficient detection features due to the diversity of syntax and the polysemia of semantics in natural language processing. This paper presents a novel linguistics steganalysis approach based on meta features and immune clone mechanism. Firstly, meta features are used to represent texts. Then immune clone mechanism is exploited to select appropriate features so as to constitute effective detectors. Our approach employed meta features as detection features, which is an opposite view from the previous literatures. Moreover, the immune training process consists of two phases which can identify respectively two kinds of stego texts. The constituted detectors have the capable of blind steganalysis to a certain extent. Experiments show that the proposed approach gets better performance than typical existing methods, especially in detecting short texts. When sizes of texts are confined to 3kB, detection accuracies have exceeded 95%.
