Optimizing BLAS2 for a decoupled access/execute architecture processor

Basic Linear Algebra Subroutines (BLAS) is a widely used basic mathematical library for high-performance computing. It has a great impact on the performance of supercomputers. This paper focuses on memory accessing optimization for the level-2 library of BLAS (BLAS2) based on Godson-3B chips. The key contribution of this work is proposing several methods to make full use of the Godson-3B's hardware features, as well as to improve the performance of memory access. GEMV, the kernel function of BLAS2, is selected to demonstrate the optimization methods for Godson-3B. Using Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) instructions, Direct Register Access (DRA) and Direct Cache Access (DCA) of Godson-3B, two optimization algorithms for GEMV are introduced in this paper. Experiments show that the best computing performance of the optimized GEMVs on Godson-3B is more than 1.8Gops, which is far superior to that of other versions. While the test scale of GEMVs is greater than the size of L2-cache, its average performance exceeds UBLAS and OpenBlas, the two most famous optimized BLAS libraries for GODSON, by more than 60% and 20% respectively. © 2014 Binary Information Press.

We investigate the evolutionary prisoner＇s dilemma game （PDG） on weighted Newman-Watts （NW） networks. In weighted NW networks, the link weight ωij is assigned to the link between the nodes i and j as： ωij = （ki · kj）^β, where ki（kj） is the degree of node i（j） and β represents the strength of the correlations. Obviously, the link weight can be tuned by only one parameter β. We focus on the cooperative behavior and wealth distribution in the system. Simulation results show that the cooperator frequency is promoted by a large range of β and there is a minimal cooperation frequency around β = -1. Moreover, we also employ the Gini coefficient to study the wealth distribution in the population. Numerical results show that the Gini coefficient reaches its minimum when β≈ -1. Our work may be helpful in understanding the emergence of cooperation and unequal wealth distribution in society.

Multi-hop infrastructure wireless mesh networks offer increased reliability, coverage and reduced equipment costs over their single-hop counterpart, wireless LANs. Equipping wireless routers with multiple radios further improves the capacity by transmitting over multiple radios simultaneously using orthogonal channels. However, due to the limited number of available orthogonal channels, interference is still a factor in such networks. In this paper, we propose a network model that captures the key practical aspects of such systems and characterize the constraints binding their behavior. We mathematically formulate the optimization framework, taking into account the interference constraints, the number of channels in the network and the number of radios available at each mesh router etc. We then use this framework to develop solutions for multiple objectives subject to different kind of fairness constraints on allocation of scarce wireless capacity among mobile clients. The methods proposed in this paper can be a valuable tool for network designers in planning network deployment and for optimizing different performance objectives.

In this paper, we propose a game model to solve the MAC address assignment in sensor networks. Insufficiency of battery power of sensors makes the conservation of the energy be the main design issues for the sensor networks. Due to the small packet payload, the MAC header is a significant and energy-costly overhead. To remedy this, we propose a novel scheme for a MAC address assignment. The key feature which makes our approach unique is that we propose a mixed strategy game model to solve the address assignment problem. We prove that there is a mixed strategy Nash equilibrium in our game model. The model takes advantage of the exploitation of spatial address ruse to save energy. Our model is easy to implement, which makes it a potential candidate for practical implementations, even for very large networks.

Topological holes in sensor networks usually indicate the region where nodes are depleted or not dense enough due to kinds of reasons. In this paper, we study the problem of detecting topological holes in wireless sensor networks. Those sensor nodes have no geographic location information and have a limited communication range. We present a novel distributed topological holes detection algorithm which is based purely on the logical communication topology graph. By exchanging information with its 1-hop and 2-hop neighbors, each node can independently decide whether it is on the boundary of a hole. Those boundary sensor nodes together could describe the region of the topological hole. Experimental results show that our distributed algorithm is effective in exploiting those characteristics of those nodes on the boundaries of holes. And thus it could identify those holes in sensor networks of moderate node densities.

Self representation problem is very important for the negative selection algorithms. In this paper, two methods, named as K-NN-ASR and B-NN-ASR, are proposed to calculate the self radius of a self sample in the continuous space. As for the K-NN-ASR, the self radius of a self sample is calculated according to the distances from itself to the surrounding self samples. In the B-NN-ASR, both the position of the self sample and the distances to the surrounding self samples are considered. Experiments are done to test the performance of the proposed methods. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed methods are competitive, and the B-NN-ASR is better. © 2011 IEEE.

In this work, a Gong-Si-shaped circularly polarized (CP) array with power driver for 5G is proposed. The radiator of the constructed CP array consists of two Chinese-like characters ' and '' with the similar size and pronunciation of 'gong' and 'si', Two L-shaped feeding probes of the same size are connected to the designed power driver printed on the bottom layer of ground plate, and the array can radiate circular polarization electromagnetic waves by changing the positions of the L-shaped probes and the angle of the horizontal parts of the L-shaped probes. From the simulating and optimizing, it is finally obtained that the -15 dB bandwidth of modeled Gong-Si-like CP antenna lies in 2.49 - 2.81 GHz and the presented Gong-Si-like CP antenna has a axial bandwidth covering 2.36 - 2.82 GHz, which meets the n41 5G band implementing at 2.515 - 2.675 GHz. © 2022 IEEE.

Evolutionary clustering is a hot research topic that clusters the time-stamped data and it is essential to some important applications such as data streams clustering and social network analysis. An evolutionary clustering should accurately reflect the current data at any time step while simultaneously not deviate too drastically from the recent past. In this paper, the differential evolution (DE) is applied to deal with the evolutionary clustering problem. Comparing with the typical k-means, evolutionary clustering based on DE (deEC) could perform a global search in the solution space. Experimental results over synthetic and real-world data sets demonstrate that the deEC provides robust and adaptive solutions.

Evolutionary Algorithms (EAs) with gradient-based repair, which utilize the gradient information of the constraints set, have been proved to be effective. It is known that it would be time-consuming if all infeasible individuals are repaired. Therefore, so far the infeasible individuals to be repaired are randomly selected from the population and the strategy of choosing individuals to be repaired has not been studied yet. In this paper, the Species-based Repair Strategy (SRS) is proposed to select representative infeasible individuals instead of the random selection for gradient-based repair. The proposed SRS strategy has been applied to εDEag which repairs the random selected individuals using the gradient-based repair. The new algorithm is named SRS-εDEag. Experimental results show that SRS-εDEag outperforms εDEag in most benchmarks. Meanwhile, the number of repaired individuals is reduced markedly.

String stretched tightly along a sequence of fixed grasp points takes the shape of a polygonal arc. In this work, we investigate how many points are necessary and sufficient to grasp and tie arbitrary knots while maintaining tension, so that the string remains polygonal. This approach allows reasoning that is entirely geometric, which does not rely on potentially inaccurate dynamic models of the string or detailed knowledge of physical characteristics of the string. Algorithms are proposed to determine the contact locations, and generate the motions needed to tie arbitrary knots. This work shows that a number of grasp points that is linear in the number of crossings in a knot diagram is sufficient to immobilize string in a polygonal shape with the topology of an arbitrary knot, or to fold or unfold the knot from a straight configuration.
