The negative database (NDB) is the negative representation of original data. Existing work has demonstrated that NDB can be used to preserve privacy and hide information. However, most work about NDB is based on binary representation. In some applications which are naturally descripted in real-valued space, the binary negative database is hard to be applied appropriately. Therefore, the real-valued negative database is proposed in this paper, and reversing the real-valued negative database is proved to be an NP-hard problem. Moreover, an effective algorithm for generating real-valued negative databases is given. Finally, an example of applying the realvalued negative database to the privacy-preserving data publication is descripted, and it shows that the real-valued negative database is valuable in practice. © 2013 Proceedings of the 12th European Conference on the Synthesis and Simulation of Living Systems: Advances in Artificial Life, ECAL 2013. In a negative survey, a category which does not agree with the fact of each participant is collected. Hence, data collectors cannot acquire the realistic data of participants, and this can efficiently protect participants' private information and sensitive data. However, existing approaches used to estimate the distribution of positive surveys from negative surveys are not practical and time-consuming. This paper proposed a method in order to acquire practical estimation results with a lower computing cost, namely fastNStoPS. Usually, privacy and utility are used to measure the performances of negative surveys, and they are two conflicting metrics. Users have different demands on privacy (or utility) under different circumstances. The optimal negative surveys are a Pareto font of these two objectives. To demonstrate its practicability, the proposed fastNStoPS method is embedded into a Differential Evolution (DE), which is used to find the optimal negative surveys. The experiment results show that the DE has a much better performance on find the optimal negative surveys, and the computing cost is very low.

In order to effectively detect and analyze the backdoors this paper introduces a method named Backdoor Analysis based on Sensitive flow tracking and Concolic Execution（BASEC）.BASEC uses sensitive flow tracking to effectively discover backdoor behaviors, such as stealing secret information and injecting evil data into system, with less false negatives. With concolic execution on predetermined path, the backdoor trigger condition can be extracted and analyzed to achieve high accuracy. BASEC has been implemented and experimented on several software backdoor samples widespread on the Internet, and over 90% of them can be detected. Compared with behavior-based and system-call-based detection methods, BASEC relies less on the historical sample collections, and is more effective in detecting software backdoors, especially those injected into software by modifying and recompiling source codes.

For the past few years, the research of intelligence model based on biologicalinformation processing mechanisms has become an important area of artificial intelligence. The biological information processing system is mainly composed of nervous system, immune system and endocrine system. There is not only large loop among them, but also direct reciprocity, which plays an important role in the growing development and metabolism of organisms and maintains their vital movement together. As an important part of information processing system in living organisms, the endocrine system contains very complex and particular information processing mechanisms, including hormonal regulation mechanism, information delivery mechanism and emotion reacting mechanism. Extracting these mechanisms which are peculiar to endocrine system and establishing corresponding models and algorithms has important research value, which has been a hot issue in the research field of artificial intelligence. Shibata presented a hormone-like mechanism with an emphasis on human-robot interaction. Shen proposed a bio-inspired control method called Digital Hormone Model (DHM) to control the tasking and executing of robot swarms based on local communication,signal propagation, and stochastic reactions. Neal and Timmis put forward artificial endocrine system (AES) for the first time in 2003. They proposed an artificial homeostasis system later. Motivated by the high-level regulation mechanism of endocrine system, an agent self-organization algorithm of behavior was put forward. A hormone based tracking strategy for mobile target tracking in wireless sensor networks was presented. © 2012 Springer-Verlag London Limited.

Interactive population-based incremental learning (IPBIL) is an effective method to solve optimization problems with implicit performance indices. It can significantly reduce user fatigue compared with interactive evolutionary computation (IEC). However, each run of IPBIL can only find one solution or some similar solutions. Thus it is not suitable for multimodal optimization problems with implicit performance indices. To solve this problem, we propose an IPBIL with multiple probability vectors (IPBIL-MPV) in this work. The key idea is to utilize multiple probability vectors to catch different search directions and thus find more than one solutions. We perform a subjective experiment in which IPBIL-MPV is applied to a fashion design problem. The experimental results show that IPBIL-MPV can find several distinct solutions in a run. Thus it is an effective method to solve multimodal optimization problems with implicit performance indices. © 2010 IEEE.

We investigate the evolutionary prisoner＇s dilemma game （PDG） on weighted Newman-Watts （NW） networks. In weighted NW networks, the link weight ωij is assigned to the link between the nodes i and j as： ωij = （ki · kj）^β, where ki（kj） is the degree of node i（j） and β represents the strength of the correlations. Obviously, the link weight can be tuned by only one parameter β. We focus on the cooperative behavior and wealth distribution in the system. Simulation results show that the cooperator frequency is promoted by a large range of β and there is a minimal cooperation frequency around β = -1. Moreover, we also employ the Gini coefficient to study the wealth distribution in the population. Numerical results show that the Gini coefficient reaches its minimum when β≈ -1. Our work may be helpful in understanding the emergence of cooperation and unequal wealth distribution in society.

Emotions are an important aspect of human intelligence and have been shown to play a significant role in human decision-making process. Researchers in areas such as psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science and artificial intelligence have proposed a variety of emotional models. However, most of the previous models have not solved the complexity of the human emotional system owing to the lack of an effective regulatory mechanism for controlling the emotions. To address the limitation, a hormone-modulated emotional model (HMEM) is presented. Since emotions are imprecise and uncertain in nature, fuzzy logic is employed in the computation of new emotion intensity. The reported experiments test HMEM within a simulated autonomous agent situated in a dynamic environment. Experimental results show that both the hormonal system and emotional system contribute positively to the survival of the agent. © 2010 IEEE.

In evolutionary multi-objective optimization, the results generated by an evolutionary algorithm usually contain an approximation, as good as possible, of the entire Pareto-optimal front. However, sometimes the number of Pareto-optimal solutions may be so large that the decision maker (DM) is incapable of manipulating or understanding them. Methods for considering only the Pareto-optimal solutions that the DM prefers indeed constitute a hot research topic in the evolutionary computation field. In this paper, we introduce a new dominance relation called hat g-dominance, which is an improved version of the g-dominance relation and can be easily implemented in traditional multi-objective evolutionary algorithms. In this work, the proposed hat g-dominance is implemented in NSGA-II. Our experimental results show the effectiveness of hat g-NSGA-II with respect to the original g-NSGA-II. © 2019 IEEE.

Multi-hop infrastructure wireless mesh networks offer increased reliability, coverage and reduced equipment costs over their single-hop counterpart, wireless LANs. Equipping wireless routers with multiple radios further improves the capacity by transmitting over multiple radios simultaneously using orthogonal channels. However, due to the limited number of available orthogonal channels, interference is still a factor in such networks. In this paper, we propose a network model that captures the key practical aspects of such systems and characterize the constraints binding their behavior. We mathematically formulate the optimization framework, taking into account the interference constraints, the number of channels in the network and the number of radios available at each mesh router etc. We then use this framework to develop solutions for multiple objectives subject to different kind of fairness constraints on allocation of scarce wireless capacity among mobile clients. The methods proposed in this paper can be a valuable tool for network designers in planning network deployment and for optimizing different performance objectives.

In this paper, we propose a game model to solve the MAC address assignment in sensor networks. Insufficiency of battery power of sensors makes the conservation of the energy be the main design issues for the sensor networks. Due to the small packet payload, the MAC header is a significant and energy-costly overhead. To remedy this, we propose a novel scheme for a MAC address assignment. The key feature which makes our approach unique is that we propose a mixed strategy game model to solve the address assignment problem. We prove that there is a mixed strategy Nash equilibrium in our game model. The model takes advantage of the exploitation of spatial address ruse to save energy. Our model is easy to implement, which makes it a potential candidate for practical implementations, even for very large networks.
