A Compact Ultra-Wideband Microstrip Antenna for Spectrum Monitoring

A compact ultra-wideband antenna fed by coplanar waveguide is reported in this paper. The designed antenna consists of a trumpet-shaped planar radiation patch and a symmetrical ground patch. Two Mickey-Mouse shaped perturbative slots and two quarterelliptical grooves are etched on the ground to obtain better impedance matching. By prolonging the radiation patch, a very wide −10 dB bandwidth of covering 300 MHz–18 GHz with bandwidth ratio up to 60: 1 and omnidirectional coverage are achieved. Furthermore, the proposed antenna is able to cover P(0.3-1G), L(1-2G), S(2-4G), C(4-8G), X(8-12G), and Ku (12-18G) bands, which is much preferred for wideband spectrum monitoring. © 2025, Electromagnetics Academy. RDW-YOLOv8n: a deeply focused algorithm for small object traffic sign detection under complex weather conditions

In autonomous driving technology, accurate detection of traffic signs is crucial for vehicles to perceive their surrounding road conditions. However, the detection of small traffic signs is often affected by changes in lighting and obstruction from obstacles under complex weather conditions, resulting in inaccurate localization and missed detections. To address these challenges, we introduce a new optimized algorithm - RDW-YOLOv8n. We utilize an enhanced small object layer integrated with the ResCBAM module to replace the original large object layer. Unlike traditional methods of introducing small object layers, this method improves detection accuracy by enhancing the network's perception of small objects through residual attention while effectively addressing the issue of missed detections present in the original algorithm and significantly reducing the number of model parameters. In addition, lightweight depthwise convolution (DWConv) is introduced to further streamline the model without sacrificing accuracy. Finally, the original loss function is replaced with the WIoU loss function to enable the model to focus on the average quality of anchor boxes, balancing the learning of high- and low-quality samples. Experiments conducted on the CCTSDB 2021 dataset show that the RDW-YOLOv8n algorithm achieves a mean average precision (mAP50) of 84.7% and a recall rate (R) of 75.3%, which represent improvements of 6.9 and 5.2 percentage points over the baseline model, respectively. Meanwhile, the model parameter count is reduced by 68.11%, and the F1 score increases by 3.1%. These results effectively demonstrate the detection performance of this algorithm under complex weather. When compared with recent advanced algorithms, RDW-YOLOv8n achieves the highest mAP50 with the smallest number of parameters, highlighting the strong competitiveness and superiority of this algorithm. © 2025 SPIE and IS&T.

The $$H_{\infty }$$ control of singular time-delay systems (STDs) with proportional-differential (PD) feedback of partial states is the main topic of this work. A new PD feedback controller with partial states is constructed, and the admissibility and $$H_{\infty }$$ control problems are studied by figuring out the differential-algebraic equations of a class of STDs with external disturbances. Additionally, robust admissibility and robust admissibilization conditions are derived, allowing for the reduction of conservatism and the improvement of control impact with reduced computation. The utilization of a more concise controller in this study facilitates further reduction of decision variables compared to previous studies, while effectively striking a balance between conservatism, the quantity of decision variables, and control efficacy. Lastly, a few numerical examples illustrate the aforementioned claims.

In this study, the $$H_\infty $$ control problem of a linear time-delay system is considered. A proportional–integral observer and equivalent-input-disturbance method (the PIO-based-EID method) provides a more accurate estimation of the system state and allows for a more flexible system design for enhanced stability. Therefore, in this study, the method is used to improve the disturbance suppression performance of the system. Firstly, an EID estimate is obtained based on the PIO-based-EID method. Subsequently, a static output-feedback control law including EID estimation is developed to ensure excellent control effect. Thirdly, the stability of the closed-loop system is demonstrated by the results of linear-matrix-inequalities to match the $$H_\infty $$ control performance specification. The control law gain and observer gain are then determined using the singular value decomposition method. Ultimately, simulation results from MATLAB software are analyzed to confirm the method’s feasibility.

Compact Broadband Four-Port MIMO Antenna for UAV to Assist Automotive Communication

A compact broadband four-port multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) antenna for UAV to assist automotive communication is proposed. By utilizing a 3D ground dielectric layer, the microstrip patch elements are vertically placed on each side of the cube to achieve omnidirectional coverage. Grounding branches are introduced on both sides of the radiating patch to realize short circuit, significantly improves impedance matching, resulting in a broadband of 4.16 GHz. 8.84 GHz and a compact size of 70 mm × 70 mm × 10 mm. Additionally, parasitic ground structures are incorporated inside the 3D ground dielectric layer, effectively enhancing port isolation. Measurements show that the port coupling coefficient is better than.18 dB in the entire frequency band, and it is even superior to.25 dB in the V2X frequency band. The envelope correlation coefficient remains below 0.0048 throughout the operating band. Furthermore, the diversity gain achieves 9.992 dB, while the channel capacity loss is maintained below 0.4 bits/s/Hz. This design provides an efficient and stable signal transmission solution for drone-assisted automotive communication systems. © 2014 IEEE.

A compact broadband high-isolation quad-port MIMO antenna for intelligent driving application

A compact quad-port multi-input multi-output antenna for intelligent driving is proposed. The antenna features orthogonal microstrip patch elements and a centrally integrated parasitic structure with four pairs of rotationally symmetric straplines to enhance port isolation. With compact dimensions of 0.92λ × 0.92λ × 0.03λ, the antenna achieves an ultra-wide bandwidth spanning 5.11 GHz–10.53 GHz, covering bands including 5G WLAN (5.15–5.85 GHz), V2X (5.905 GHz–5.925 GHz), 6G IMT (6.425–7.125 GHz), and UWB (7.163–8.812 GHz). Experimental results demonstrate exceptional performance. The coupling coefficients remain below −24.16 dB in the entire band, and better than −34.15 dB in the V2X band. The ECC under 0.004, and the DG is better than 9.97 dB with the CCL less than 0.4 bits/s/Hz. Orthogonal element arrangement ensures omnidirectional radiation coverage, addressing the challenges of spatial constraint in vehicular environments. © 2025 anhui Normal University.

Modality Unified Attack for Omni-Modality Person Re-Identification

Deep learning based person re-identification (re-id) models have been widely employed in surveillance systems. Recent studies have demonstrated that black-box single-modality and cross-modality re-id models are vulnerable to adversarial examples (AEs), leaving the robustness of multi-modality re-id models unexplored. Due to the lack of knowledge about the specific type of model deployed in the target black-box surveillance system, we aim to generate modality unified AEs for omni-modality (single-, cross- and multi-modality) re-id models. Specifically, we propose a novel Modality Unified Attack method to train modality-specific adversarial generators to generate AEs that effectively attack different omni-modality models. A multi-modality model is adopted as the surrogate model, wherein the features of each modality are perturbed by metric disruption loss before fusion. To collapse the common features of omnimodality models, Cross Modality Simulated Disruption approach is introduced to mimic the cross-modality feature embeddings by intentionally feeding images to non-corresponding modality-specific subnetworks of the surrogate model. Moreover, Multi Modality Collaborative Disruption strategy is devised to facilitate the attacker to comprehensively corrupt the informative content of person images by leveraging a multi modality feature collaborative metric disruption loss. Extensive experiments show that our MUA method can effectively attack the omni-modality re-id models, achieving 55.9%, 24.4%, 49.0% and 62.7% mean mAP Drop Rate, respectively. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

A new distributed fixed time secondary control strategy is proposed for the battery energy storage system of DC microgrids. It has the advantages of fast convergence speed and strong reliability. This control strategy estimates the average voltage of the system based on a voltage observer, and takes the estimated average voltage, proportional current, and energy level of the battery energy storage unit as consistent variables. A distributed secondary controller is designed based on a fixed time algorithm. Finally, the uniform convergence of the control strategy is analyzed using the Lyapunov stability criterion;And the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy was verified through simulation. © 2023 IEEE.
