An intrusion detection system using ranked feature bagging

An Intrusion Detection System monitors the network for any malicious attacks. It is an ideal tool for protecting extensive business networks from any kind of attack. In this paper, an Intrusion Detection System using Bagging and ranked features has been proposed. The sample datasets for training the ensemble of classifiers in the bagging approach are obtained by generating subsets of the features ranked according to their importance in the classification process. OneR algorithm has been used to rank the features. The decision tree has been used as the base classifier in the bagging approach. The proposed system was able to predict attacks with an accuracy of 99.71% with a minimal number of features and outperformed other similar approaches discussed in the literature. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2023. Enhancing pre-trained models for text summarization: a multi-objective genetic algorithm optimization approach

Pre-trained language models have significantly advanced text summarization by leveraging extensive pre-training data to enhance performance. Many cutting-edge models undergo an initial pre-training phase on a large corpus before being fine-tuned specifically for text summarization tasks. The challenge arises when the limited data available for these summarization tasks and the high complexity of the models lead to aggressive fine-tuning, which can cause the models to over fit the training data and fail to generalize well to new, unseen data. To address these challenges, the study proposes a multi-objective based Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) approach for optimizing pre-trained models for summarization The proposed approach first compares the performance of various pre-trained models by fine-tuning them with the CNN/Daily Mail dataset. Secondly, the proposed Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) is applied to all validated pre-trained models and compared using a statistical approach. Experimental results reveal that Pre-training with Extracted Gap-sentences for Abstractive Summarization Sequence-to-sequence (PEGASUS) model performs best among the pre-trained models. Further optimization with the proposed MOGA method yields even better results, with the optimized model achieving a Recall-Oriented Understudy for Gisting Evaluation) ROUGE-1 score of 0.514, a ROUGE-2 score of 0.4, and a ROUGE-L score of 0.5. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Cab booking services help people order taxis. Existing cab booking services use client server-based architecture. The paper gives a study of the architecture and workings of the Uber cab booking website (Dissanayake, March 18, 2021). It has a micro-service based architecture (Li et al. 2021). Load balancing (Al-Jaroodi et al. 2012) and stream processing (Besnard et al. 2013) are used to handle a large number of requests. The workload is divided among servers using Dispatch Optimization (Abid et al. 2022). It ensures fast responses, easy connection minimal downtime, and efficient use of resources. However, the use of servers increases the cost of service. Rider and driver depend on the server to connect. They don’t know if the system is charging them fairly. It reduces transparency and trust. The paper proposes a blockchain-based cab booking application to solve some of the problems. Trust, transparency, and decentralization can be ensured using blockchain. Transparent and immutable ledgers of blockchain ensure trust and reduce reliance on intermediaries. Smart contracts govern ride management, optimizing efficiency. Blockchain capabilities are used to ensure fair rides, direct interaction of passengers with drivers, and automated payments. The proposed system aims at combining existing technology with blockchain solution to ensure security and transparency along with scalability and quick response time. © 2025 the Author(s).

Deep Neural Network and GAN-Based Reversible Data Hiding in Encrypted Images: A Privacy-Preserving Approach

In light of recent incidents involving the leakage of private photographs of Hollywood celebrities from iCloud, the need for robust methods to safeguard image content has gained paramount importance. This paper addresses this concern by introducing a novel framework for reversible image editing (RIT) supported by reversible data hiding with encrypted images (RDH-EI) techniques. Unlike traditional approaches vulnerable to hacking, this framework ensures both efficient and secure data embedding while maintaining the original image’s privacy. The framework leverages two established methods: secret writing and knowledge activity. While secret writing is susceptible to hacking due to the complex nature of cipher languages, RDH-EI-supported RIT adopts a more secure approach. It replaces the linguistic content of the original image with the semantics of a different image, rendering the encrypted image visually indistinguishable from a plaintext image. This novel substitution prevents cloud servers from detecting encrypted data, enabling the adoption of reversible data hiding (RDH) methods designed for plaintext images. The proposed framework offers several distinct advantages. Firstly, it ensures the confidentiality of sensitive information by concealing the linguistic content of the original image. Secondly, it supports reversible image editing, enabling the restoration of the original image from the encrypted version without any loss of data. Lastly, the integration of RDH techniques designed for plaintext images empowers the cloud server to embed supplementary data while preserving image quality. Incorporating convolutional neural network (CNN) and generative adversarial network (GAN) models, the framework ensures accurate data extraction and high-quality image restoration. Sentiment-aware drug recommendations with a focus on symptom-condition mapping

The adoption of digital health records and the rise of online medical forums resulted in massive volumes of unstructured healthcare data. Most of the data used by traditional drug recommendation systems is obtained from patient Electronic Health Records (EHR) and subjective feedback and experiences included in patient evaluations. Nevertheless, the current systems based on sentiment analysis fail consider Symptom based diagnosis whereas researches that proposes Graph models doesn’t not include patient satisfaction and Health History as some has specific needs. To address the draw backs of existing drug recommendation systems, this study suggests a novel approach that combines symptom-disease mapping with sentiment analysis of patient reviews. The primary objective of the research is to utilize machine learning classifiers to make symptom-based predictions about probable medical conditions as Phase I. Then, before being fed into sequence network and machine learning models, patient reviews that are relevant to the predicted condition are filtered as Phase II. This method generates probabilities for suggesting certain drugs by evaluating sentiments and incorporating review ratings. With a Performance score of Ensemble Model up to 99.25% in Phase I and accuracy of 99.45% for sentiment analyser in Phase II. The performance of the model was evaluated based on accuracy, Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve (ROC)-Area Under Curve (AUC) score, sensitivity, selectivity. The proposed system helps in recommending the optimal drug for any type of symptom samples which is available in database. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2024.
