Tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum) are one of the most widely consumed fruits globally. Fruit maturity and disease estimation is a criticalfactors in determining its quality and marketability. Traditional maturity assessment requires huge labor, slow, subjective, and time-consuming activities. To address these challenges, the agriculture industry is subjected to automation using computer vision models. Accurate prediction of tomato maturity and diseases is important to decide on harvesting time. Several features such as color, shape, texture, and size are considered to predict the different maturity stages of fruits using deep learning and machine learning models. Assessing the maturity level and disease detection in the early stage of tomatoes is crucial. The proposed work explores the application of the VGG16 architecturefor tomato maturity classification and disease detection. The study leverages transfer learning with VGG16focusing on feature extraction and model optimization to achieve accurate classification. The datasets used in this work are self-created using the images that are collected from agricultural farms. The dataset consists of image samples of six different maturity stagesand diseased fruit images. The experiment results in an accuracy range between 95%-99% for six maturity stages of tomatoes and disease prediction resulted in 90%-97% accuracy. © 2024 IEEE.

In document-level event extraction tasks, multiple event types often coexist within a document (the multi-event problem), and arguments may play different roles across different events (the argument intertwining problem). Existing methods often suffer from significantly reduced event extraction accuracy, mainly when focusing on scenarios with scarce annotated data and imbalanced event-type distributions. This paper emphasizes enhancing the correlation between event triggers and arguments to address these challenges. Therefore, we propose the Relation-Augmented UIE Model (RADIE), which introduces entity relationships into prompts using prompt-based learning and designs a relation-augmentation algorithm to improve the accuracy and completeness of event extraction. Experimental results demonstrate that this approach significantly outperforms baseline methods, mainly showcasing excellent performance on datasets with long-tail distributions. © 2024 IEEE.

Lung disease ranked as the third leading global cause of mortality, underscores the critical importance of accurately detecting respiratory disease abnormalities to reduce mortality rates. This study applies the Vision Transformer (Vit) with attention mechanisms to classify respiratory sounds into fve respiratory cases (Normal, Asthma, Pneumonia, COPD, and Lung fbrosis). The approach involves utilizing a dataset of lung audio signals represented as spectrogram images to train the Vit transformer model. Multiple data augmentation techniques enhance model generalization and diversify the dataset. Furthermore, the experimentation phase explores two normalization techniques, RMS and EBU. The results reveal that the highest achieved accuracy is 91.04%, achieved through a combination of data augmentation and EBU normalization, surpassing the state-of-the-art methods such as ResNet101, VGG-16, VGG-19, and others. These findings offer valuable insights into medical diagnostics, suggesting that the Vision Transformer model holds promise for creating more precise and reliable systems for classifying lung sounds. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. computer vision is defined in this study and one of the applications demonstrated is crop yield prediction in agricultural automation. Here we have emphasized on its use for computer vision for the agricultural domain. Using multispectral images that can be obtained from drones satellites and pairs with ground truths of average crop yield, weather conditions and parts of the soil treated with practices performed by an agronomist the proffered methodology would take advantage of the uniqueness of the concept to predict crop production. Further, elaborate machine learning methods such as line regression, decision trees, Random Forest, Support Vector Machine and CNN models are applied in order that the ultimate selection of the model would be contingent on the accuracy in relation to a crop yield. The DL based approaches as seen majority of this work and particularly the CNN exhibited improved results over regression models since there are more of classification than regression;In addition DL models are more appropriate for spatial relations and variations characteristic of crop data. Besides that, data fusion methods which map the accuracy of the images, weather and fields data develops a more accurate forecast as proven by the above crop modeling that involves multidimensional data. While transferring on fresh test data, it also demonstrates that the trained models have the capability to use the collected data in order to not only provide intelligent advices to the farmers on resource goodwill and crop productivity that will pave way for better results. Most importantly therefore for the hear of it the research show that with computer visions and machine learning the agricultural process can be reinvented this is how food security can be improved as the environment evolves. © 2024 IEEE.

SEED-VII: A Multimodal Dataset of Six Basic Emotions with Continuous Labels for Emotion Recognition

Recognizing emotions from physiological signals is a topic that has garnered widespread interest, and research continues to develop novel techniques for perceiving emotions. However, the emergence of deep learning has highlighted the need for comprehensive and high-quality emotional datasets that enable the accurate decoding of human emotions. To systematically explore human emotions, we develop a multimodal dataset consisting of six basic (happiness, sadness, fear, disgust, surprise, and anger) emotions and the neutral emotion, named SEED-VII. This multimodal dataset includes electroencephalography (EEG) and eye movement signals. The seven emotions in SEED-VII are elicited by 80 different videos and fully investigated with continuous labels that indicate the intensity levels of the corresponding emotions. Additionally, we propose a novel Multimodal Adaptive Emotion Transformer (MAET), that can flexibly process both unimodal and multimodal inputs. Adversarial training is utilized in the MAET to mitigate subject discrepancies, which enhances domain generalization. Our extensive experiments, encompassing both subject-dependent and cross-subject conditions, demonstrate the superior performance of the MAET in terms of handling various inputs. Continuous labels are used to filter the data with high emotional intensity, and this strategy is proven to be effective for attaining improved emotion recognition performance. Furthermore, complementary properties between the EEG signals and eye movements and stable neural patterns of the seven emotions are observed. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have garnered increasing attention in recent years due to their utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and automation processes. These vehicles are being developed for various applications, including the military, smart agriculture, rescue operations, entertainment, monitoring, and medicine delivery. In the current era, UAVs extensively employ a wide range of technologies to transmit data to base stations. The collected data undergoes processing, producing remarkable outcomes through the integration of machine learning and deep learning technologies. This paper reviews disease identification and object detection techniques and their associated applications & challenges. Additionally, the research explores recent trends and technologies in the field of smart agriculture. This research emphasizes the use of sensors in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) by analyzing the methods utilized for recognizing diseased areas and things while identifying insects and sick crops. This paper also addresses the challenges encountered by existing methodologies and proposes directions for future research and development. Furthermore, this review delves into suitable techniques for heterogeneous UAVs and examines IoT-related strategies. © 2024 IEEE.

Gene expression analysis plays a crucial role in understanding biological processes and diseases. However, the high-dimensional nature of gene expression data poses challenges for its analysis and interpretation. Clustering algorithms have been widely used for identifying patterns in gene expression data, but their effectiveness is limited by the choice of algorithm and parameters used. In this study, we propose an approach for optimizing gene expression analysis using clustering algorithms. Initially, a range of clustering techniques were assessed, encompassing K-means, hierarchical clustering, and DBSCAN. This assessment was conducted using gene expression information sourced from a publicly accessible database. Subsequently, various techniques for feature selection were employed. These techniques encompassed principal component analysis (PCA) as well as correlation-based feature selection (CFS). Their objective was twofold: to decrease the data's dimensionality and to enhance the effectiveness of the clustering process. From the study, we came to know that the combination of K-means clustering with PCA feature selection outperformed other methods in terms of clustering accuracy and stability. We also identified a set of genes that were consistently associated with different clusters, providing insights into the underlying biological processes. Overall, our study demonstrates the importance of careful algorithm and parameter selection for gene expression analysis and highlights the potential of clustering algorithms for identifying meaningful patterns in gene expression data. The suggested methodology entails merging DBSCAN with K-means clustering, which could be extended to diverse high-dimensional datasets for the enhancement of their analysis and comprehension. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The rapid evolution of wireless communication technologies and the increasing demand for multi-functional systems have led to the emergence of integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) as a key enabler for future 6G networks. Simultaneously transmitting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (STAR-RISs) have recently garnered significant attention for their ability to enhance signal coverage and improve system efficiency. This paper investigates a STAR-RIS-assisted ISAC system designed to secure communication for multiple legitimate users (LUs) while safeguarding against multiple eavesdroppers (Eves). By jointly optimizing the base station (BS) transmit beamforming, STAR-RIS transmission and reflection coefficients, and receive filters, the proposed framework aims to maximize the long-term average secrecy rate for all LUs. Constraints are imposed to ensure minimum echo signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) for sensing and meet the achievable rate requirements of LUs. To address the inherent complexity of this non-convex problem, two deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithms are proposed. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed system achieves significant improvements in secrecy rate compared to conventional RIS setups. This work provides a scalable and efficient approach for secure multi-user ISAC systems, making it highly relevant for future 6G networks, smart cities, and IoT applications. © 2025 The Authors.
