Comprehending the dynamics of flood and landslide prediction in current and adjacent regions is crucial for the formulation and advancement of effective predictive models, conservation, and management techniques. Conventional forecasting techniques, typically dependent on statistical models and empirical data, may prove inadequate because of the intrinsic complexities and variability of environmental elements. The complex interaction of climatic conditions, hydrological processes, geological attributes, and topographical aspects complicates precise forecasting. The constraints of traditional methods highlight the pressing necessity for more advanced and efficient predictive instruments. Artificial intelligence, especially machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL), presents a robust paradigm that utilizes sophisticated algorithms to examine extensive datasets, discern intricate patterns, and produce more precise and prompt predictions. This proposed ViT-DL model prediction ability can greatly boost catastrophe preparedness, mitigation strategies, and ultimately, preserve lives and reduce economic damages. This study will comprehensively examine contemporary research trends, emphasizing the methodology used, model efficacy, related problems, and potential future research avenues in AI-based flood and landslide prediction. The experimental results of our proposed model produces 96.6% of Accuracy and 96.31% of Precision, comparision shows our model outperforms the overall accuracy to conventions model techniques. © 2025 IEEE.

We propose a novel approach to cervical cell image classification for cervical cancer screening using the EVA-02 transformer model. We developed a four-step pipeline: fine-tuning EVA-02, feature extraction, selecting important features through multiple machine learning models, and training a new artificial neural network with optional loss weighting for improved generalization. With this design, our best model achieved an F1-score of 0.85227, outperforming the baseline EVA-02 model (0.84878). We also utilized Kernel SHAP analysis and identified key features correlating with cell morphology and staining characteristics, providing interpretable insights into the decision-making process of the fine-tuned model. Students’ day-to-day activities can be influenced by internal and external factors that can cause academic turbulence. These factors vehemently impart to the setback of bad scholastic performance in an academic arena that is escalating among pupils of one of the Nigerian universities namely, KUST. The current paper is an extension and analysis of such a problem categorized as a contagious disease. The extension of the model is from a fractional viewpoint characterizing how this difficulty is escalated in the KUST campus. The new extensions of the model are in the sense of Caputo, Caputo–Fabrizio–Caputo and the Atangana–Baleanu–Caputo and the dimensionality for the parameters has been utilized. To this aim, the existence and uniqueness of the solutions of the model under consideration are proved by using the fixed point theory. Furthermore, we have also analyzed the positivity and boundedness of the solution for the proposed scholastic model with the Caputo differential operator. The fractional scholastic models unveil the persistence of the turbulence in the campus that can be predicted through the reproduction numbers. We also applied optimal control strategies to the proposed fractional model. The analysis shows that the positive change of behavior towards academic failure (u₁) and proper orientation (u₂) are effective measures in minimizing the problem in the compartments of below-average and weak students. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature India Private Limited.

Emerging single-cell technologies profile different modalities of data in the same cell, providing opportunities to study cellular population and cell development at a res-olution that was previously inaccessible. The first and most fundamental step in analyzing single-cell multimodal data is the identification of the cell types in the data using clustering analysis and classification. However, combining different data modalities for the classification task in multimodal data remains a computational challenge. We propose an approach for identifying cell types in multimodal omics data via joint dimensionality reduction. We first introduce a general framework that extends loss based dimensionality reduction methods such as nonnegative matrix factorization and UMAP to multimodal omics data. Our approach can learn the relative contribution of each modality to a concise representation of cellular identity that enhances discriminative features and decreases the effect of noisy features. The precise representation of the multimodal data in a low dimensional space improves the predictivity of classification methods. In our experiments using both synthetic and real data, we show that our framework produces unified embeddings that agree with known cell types and allows the predictive algorithms to annotate the cell types more accurately than state-of-the-art classification methods. © 2023 IEEE.

The Dud Canard: Existence of Strong Canard Cycles in R3

In this paper, we provide a rigorous description of the birth of canard limit cycles in slow-fast systems in R3 through the folded saddle-node of type II and the singular Hopf bifurcation. In particular, we prove – in the analytic case only – that there is a family of periodic orbits, born in the (singular) Hopf bifurcation and extending to O(1) cycles that follow the strong canard of the folded saddle-node. Our results can be seen as an extension of the canard explosion in R2 , but in contrast to the planar case, the family of periodic orbits in R3 is not explosive. For this reason, we have chosen to call the phenomena in R3, the "dud canard". © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Experts attribute the success of Bitcoin to its underlying public and permissionless blockchain technology. Permissionless blockchains offer solutions to various worldly challenges, from eCommerce to governance and arbitration. However, the agriculture supply chain is a crucial sector that deserves attention. Many blockchain-based agriculture traceability systems have been developed by recent researchers using blockchain and smart contracts. While existing systems achieve security and decentralization on a large scale, they suffer from severe performance and scalability limitations. This work introduces a blockchain traceability system for the Agriculture Supply Chain (ASC) using a Proof of Stake (PoS) sharding approach to enhance scalability and operational efficiency. The proposed system comprises a coord layer, sharding layer, cross shard, and communication layer implemented using Python and the MPICH message passing library. The system distributes the computational workload among a specified number of nodes across the network, leveraging the sharding mechanism to achieve higher transaction throughput limits. The simulation results reveal that with a consistent throughput, an increase in transactions leads to longer processing times when the shard count remains the same. However, when the shard count increases, there is a significant improvement in throughput, albeit with a higher number of nodes and longer processing times. Therefore, the proposed system demonstrates enhanced throughput in sharded systems compared to existing systems. © 2024 IEEE.

A bacterial biofilm is an aggregate of micro-organisms growing fixed onto a solid surface, rather than floating freely in a liquid. Biofilms play a major role in various practical situations such as surgical infections and water treatment. We consider a non-linear PDE model of biofilm growth subject to initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions, and the inverse coefficient problem of recovering the unknown parameters in the model from extra measurements of quantities related to the biofilm and substrate. By addressing and analysing this inverse problem we provide reliable and robust reconstructions of the primary physical quantities of interest represented by the diffusion coefficients of substrate and biofilm, the biomass spreading parameters, the maximum specific consumption and growth rates, the biofilm decay rate and the half saturation constant. We give particular attention to the constant coefficients involved in the leading-part non-linearity, and present a uniqueness proof and some numerical results. In this paper, we show the practical application of two recently proposed Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) methods, namely the Stable Preference Ordering Towards the Ideal Solution (SPOTIS) and the Reference Ideal Method (RIM) methods. Both of these methods can utilize the Expected Solution Point (ESP) concept, which allows it to easily reflect the decision-maker's or the customer's preferences and expectations. We show the comparison of those methods in the practical study case of laptop choice for the customer with specific needs and expectations for the hardware expressed using ESP. The comparison also includes rankings built toward an optimal solution to underline the necessity of such an approach as the Expected Solution Point. We also use the recently developed Ranking Comparison (RANCOM) method to identify criteria weights to include customer preferences in the weights. The paper also contains a broad discussion of the obtained results and limitations of the presented methods. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
