Secret Image Sharing (SIS) transfers an image to mutually suspicious receivers as $n$ meaningless shares, where $k$ or more shares must be present to recover the secret. This paper proposes a $(k, n)$ -SIS system for any image type using polynomial interpolation based on Lagrange polynomials, where the generated shares are of size $1/k$ of the secret image size. A full encryption system, consisting of substitution and permutation stages, is employed by using the generalized Tent map as a source of randomness. In addition to using a long and sensitive system key, steganography using the Least Significant Bits (LSBs) embedding technique is utilized to improve security. Detailed experimental analysis of the security, robustness and performance of the proposed system is provided, which is more comprehensive than the analyses given in other related works. Security is demonstrated using statistical tests, and robustness against noise and cron attacks is validated.

This paper considers utilizing the knowledge of age gains to reduce the average age of information (AoI) in random access with event-driven periodic updating for the first time. Built on the form of slotted ALOHA, we require each device to determine its age gain threshold and transmission probability in an easily implementable decentralized manner, so that the contention can be limited to devices with age gains as high as possible. For the basic case that each device utilizes its knowledge of age gain of only itself, we provide an analytical modeling by a multi-layer discrete-time Markov chains (DTMCs), where an external DTMC manages the jumps between the beginnings of frames and an internal DTMC manages the evolution during an arbitrary frame, for obtaining optimal fixed access parameters offline. For the enhanced case that each device utilizes its knowledge of age gains of all the devices, we require each device to adjust its access parameters for maximizing the estimated network expected AoI reduction per slot, through maintaining the a posteriori joint probability distribution of local age and age gain of an arbitrary device in a Bayesian manner. Numerical results validate our study and demonstrate the advantage of the proposed schemes over other schemes. © 1972-2012 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence method for predicting the maximum stress of an off-center casing under non-uniform ground stress with support vector machine

The situation of an off-center casing under non-uniform ground stress can occur in the process of drilling a salt-gypsum formation,and the related casing stress calculation has not yet been solved analytically. In addition,the experimental equipment in many cases cannot meet the actual conditions and the experimental cost is very high. These comprehensive factors cause the existing casing design to not meet the actual conditions and cause casing deformation,affecting the drilling operation in Tarim oil field. The finite element method is the only effective method to solve this problem at present,but the re-modelling process is time-consuming because of the changes in the parameters,such as the cement properties,casing centrality,and the casing size. In this article,an artificial intelligence method based on support vector machine(SVM) to predict the maximum stress of an offcenter casing under non-uniform ground stress has been proposed. After a program based on a radial basis function(RBF)-support vector regression(SVR)(ε-SVR) model was established and validated,we constructed a data sample with a capacity of 120 by using the finite element method,which could meet the demand of the nine-factor ε-SVR model to predict the maximum stress of the casing. The results showed that the artificial intelligence prediction method proposed in this manuscript had satisfactory prediction accuracy and could be effectively used to predict the maximum stress of an off-center casing under complex downhole conditions.

While physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) have become a popular deep learning framework for tackling forward and inverse problems governed by partial differential equations (PDEs), their performance is known to degrade when larger and deeper neural network architectures are employed. Our study identifies that the root of this counter-intuitive behavior lies in the use of multi-layer perceptron (MLP) architectures with non-suitable initialization schemes, which result in poor trainablity for the network derivatives, and ultimately lead to an unstable minimization of the PDE residual loss. To address this, we introduce Physics-Informed Residual Adaptive Networks (PirateNets), a novel architecture that is designed to facilitate stable and efficient training of deep PINN models. PirateNets leverage a novel adaptive residual connection, which allows the networks to be initialized as shallow networks that progressively deepen during training. We also show that the proposed initialization scheme allows us to encode appropriate inductive biases corresponding to a given PDE system into the network architecture. We provide comprehensive empirical evidence showing that PirateNets are easier to optimize and can gain accuracy from considerably increased depth, ultimately achieving state-of-the-art results across various benchmarks. Image semantic segmentation performed on molds is used to achieve automatic and continuous defect detection during injection molding processing. Generally, a crucial prerequisite for training a robust segmentation neural network is to build a suitable dataset, which requires a large amount of image data with plentiful mold colors, different illumination conditions and specific defect labels. The approach requires long data preparation to collect a sufficient dataset, which could meet the needs of online defect detection during injection molding. To address robust dataset development, the present work uses a 3D CAD modelling software to fabricate defects and colors on molds, creating an augmented mixed dataset with virtual and real-process data. In this investigation, molds printed by vat photopolymerization are used as objects where both the mold images during injection molding process and the virtual mold images from the 3D modelling software are collected. Mixed datasets with different proportions of virtual images are labelled and fed into the segmentation neural network. The experimental work shows that the proposed method provides a reliable dataset augmentation for subsequent IM semantic segmentation frameworks. © European Society for Precision engineering and Nanotechnology, Conference Proceedings - 22nd International Conference and Exhibition, EUSPEN 2022. In recent years, advancements in plasmonic devices have enabled the localization of electromagnetic fields at subwavelength scales, contributing to breakthroughs in various scientific and engineering fields (J. C. Ndukaife, et al., ACS Nano, 2014,8,9,9035-9043). These structures are often made of metals and their electric properties are typically represented by the classical Drude model (S. A. Maier, 2007, Springer, New York). As the size of the plasmonic structures approaches the nanoscale, the classical Drude model falls short in explaining the collective movement of free electrons in metals. The interaction between moving charges and the electromagnetic fields can be described by a coupled system of the Maxwell and hydrodynamic equations (X. Zheng, et al., IEEE Trans. Antennas Propag., 2018,66,9, 4759-4771).

ODE and PDE models for COVID-19, with reinfection and vaccination process for Cameroon and Germany

The goal of this work is to develop and analyze a reaction-diffusion model for the transmission dynamics of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) that accounts for reinfection and vaccination, as well as to compare it to the ODE model. After developing a time-dependent ODE model, we calculate the control reproduction number Rc and demonstrate the global stability of the COVID-19 free equilibrium for Rc c > 1, the free equilibrium of COVID-19 becomes unstable and co-exists with at least one endemic equilibrium point. We then used data from Germany and Cameroon to calibrate our model and estimate some of its characteristics. We find Rc ≈ 1.13 for Germany and Rc ≈ 1.2554 for Cameroon, indicating that the disease persists in both populations. Following that, we modify the prior model into a reaction-diffusion PDE model to account for spatial mobility. We show that the solutions to the final initial value boundary problem (IVBP) exist and are nonnegative and unique. We also show that the disease-free equilibrium is stable locally, and globally when Rc c > 1, the DFE is unstable and coexists with at least one endemic equilibrium point. The present research aims to measure the segmental bioelectrical impedance (BI) of the human body at multifrequency, using a server user interface-based prototype, which provides subjects with measured data online anywhere accessed by their unique identifications. The present research measures the BI of the human leg and arm at a multifrequency range of 50-400 kHz with a developed and standard device. Recorded data can be transferred to the subject using Wi-Fi technology with their unique identifications and password. The system uses Wi-Fi interfacing for real-time data measurement and online data storage. The prototype can be used commercially. The compact size of the prototype becomes the demand of the common population. The pocket carry size makes it easy to carry anywhere for regular monitoring of the human body to prevent critical disease. The resultant data show that the mean and standard deviation of the left and right leg are 282.2 ± 14.29 and 274.80 ± 13.91 Ω, respectively. Similarly, in the case of the left arm and right arm, the mean and standard deviation are 325.41 ± 16.54 and 320.73 ± 16.07 Ω, respectively. The relative error between developed and standard devices is 3.53%. Results show that the left leg and arm impedance is always greater. However, the right leg and arm muscles are stronger than the left one, with less impedance at all frequencies. © 2024 Charu Pawar et al.

Integrability and Linearizability of a Family of Three-Dimensional Polynomial Systems

We investigate the local integrability and linearizability of a family of three-dimensional polynomial systems with the matrix of the linear approximation having the eigenvalues 1, ζ, ζ2, where ζ is a primitive cubic root of unity. We establish a criterion for the convergence of the Poincaré–Dulac normal form of the systems and examine the relationship between the normal form and integrability. Additionally, we introduce an efficient algorithm to determine the necessary conditions for the integrability of the systems. This algorithm is then applied to a quadratic subfamily of the systems to analyze its integrability and linearizability. Our findings offer insights into the integrability properties of three-dimensional polynomial systems. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
