Many human reliability analysis (HRA) methods have been developed to evaluate the reliability of Main Control Room (MCR) of nuclear Power Plants (NPP). Performance Shaping Factors (PSFs) were used in most of them to depict the contextual factors with the combination of different dimension, and to qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate the human reliability. The correlations among PSFs were one of the most important challenges for the improvement of HRA analysis quality, while most of existing HRA methods consider PSFs independently. Based on the analysis of some of the existing HRA methods and literature review of published research in this field, this paper presents a report on techniques for identifying the correlations among PSFs and some insights for future research on revealing their actual correlations. © 2023 by JSME.

The emission of a large amount of carbon dioxide has led to the greenhouse effect. With further research into the hazards of the greenhouse effect, the world’s major economies have started implementing energy-saving and emission-reduction plans. Predicting carbon emissions is important for the formulation of effective energy-saving and emission-reduction policies. This paper mainly introduces methods for predicting carbon emissions by using BP neural networks, recurrent neural networks, and a combination of traditional forecasting models with neural networks. Firstly, the characteristics of different neural networks are compared for carbon emission prediction. Secondly, the LSTM network is used for carbon emission prediction, and the evaluation results show the effect of the LSTM network. Finally, conclusion is drawn that BP and recurrent neural network are not ideal for long sequences. Joseph Junior NKOU NKOU

Monitoring the microstrain on the surface of equipment is of great significance for its health monitoring and daily maintenance. A microstrain detection method is researched in this article based on the photoluminescence characteristics of SWCNT materials. The detection of microstrain can be achieved by using the SWCNT strain sensing film pasted on the surface of the tested equipment. A standard strain gauge can also be pasted on the back of the corresponding position where the SWCNT strain sensing film is pasted to check the detection accuracy of the SWCNT strain sensing film. A microstrain loading device is designed in this paper. Then, a simulation study on the stress distribution of components with different shapes and sizes is conducted. Simulation results indicate that the geometric shape of the tested component has a significant impact on the stress distribution. © 2024 SPIE.

The previous landslide image acquisition system adopts a continuous image acquisition and transmission method, which has high consumption and produces many redundant data. Therefore, a new landslide image acquisition system is developed in this paper. The system adopts seismic geophone to gain landslide motion data, and then the dual limit comparator filters out the landslide motion data and forms a trigger signal to wake up the system. In the end, after being awakened, the embedded micro-controller collects and transmits the image. With the intermittent image acquisition and transmission method, the equipment keeps in a low-power consumption for a long time when the landslide movement is not severe. The equipment will be awakened only when the landslide movement is violent. It turns out that compared with the continuous acquisition method, the power consumption of the system can be reduced by about 66%, and the data amount can be reduced by about 60KB when the system is triggered only once in a minute. © 2021 IEEE.

The CGI (CGI) has the potential of low cost, low dose, and high resolution, which is very attractive for the development of radiation imaging field. However, many sub-coding plates must be used in the modulation process, which greatly affects the development of CGI technology. In order to reduce the coding plates, we refer to the rotation method of computed tomography (CT), then propose a novel CGI method based on rotational modulation method of a single-column striped coding plate. This method utilizes the spatial variation of a single sub-coding plate (rotation) to realize multiple modulation of the ray field and improves the utilization rate of a single sub-coding plate. However, for this rotation scheme of CGI, the traditional binary modulation matrix is no longer applicable. To obtain the system matrix of the rotated striped coding plate, an area model based on beam boundaries is established. Subsequently, numerical and Monte Carlo simulations were conducted. The results reveal that our scheme enables high-quality imaging of N×N resolution objects using only N sub-coding plates, under both full-sampling and under-sampling scenarios. Moreover, our scheme demonstrates superiority over the Hadamard scheme in both imaging quality and the number of required sub-coding plates, whether in scenarios of full-sampling or under-sampling. Finally, an α ray imaging platform was established to further demonstrate the feasibility of the rotational modulation method. By employing our scheme, a mere 8 sub-coding plates were employed to achieve CGI of the radiation source intensity distribution, achieving a resolution of 8×8. Therefore, the novel ray CGI based on rotational modulation method can achieve high-quality imaging effect with fewer sub-coding plates, which has important practical value and research significance for promoting single-pixel radiation imaging technology. © 2023, CC BY.

Monte Carlo Modeling and Verification of 6 MV Linear Accelerator

Purpose: To model the ELEKTA COMPACT accelerator head by using EGSnrc/BEAMnrc/DOSXYZnrc and to validatethe simulation according to the depth-dose and lateral profiles of different radiation fields measured by the water phantom. Methods: IBA Blue Water Phantom2 and CC13 Ionization Chamber were used to measure the depth-dose curves at 10 cm × 10 cm field and profile curves at 10 cm depth underwater. In BEAMnrc, the main components of accelerator head and the initial electron beam are established based on the specifications file, and the phase space file containing the photon beam information is generated. In DOXYZnrc, phase space files were used to irradiate a homogeneous water phantom of the same size as the IBA water phantom, and the simulated percentage depth dose curves and lateral profiles were outputted. The accuracy of the model was evaluated by mean square error (MSE) compared with the measured data. PDD curves are used to determine the energy of the initial electron beam. Dose profile curves are used to adjust the flattening filter. The penumbra on lateral profiles is used to adjust the full-width half-maximum (FWHM) of the electron source. Result: The electron energy of 5.8 MeV was considered the best match after comparing the PDD curves of 5.6 - 6.2 MeV electron beams. The flattening filter can only be adjusted by trial. In the final result, the maximum fluctuation of profile curve within 80% of the maximum field size is less than 3%, which meets the requirements of field flatness. The optimum FWHM for different fields is not consistent due to the Transmission penumbra. But a match can be approached by adjusting the FWHM every 10 cm field size.

To realize the dual carbon policy, the goal of energy saving, and emission reduction, it is important to develop ways to better promote the low carbon economic operation of energy systems. Therefore, this research proposes an optimal operation strategy considering the electric-gas-cooling-heat demand response. Considering the demand response of each participant, an integrated energy system model with photovoltaic, wind energy, and traditional grid as energy supply. Also, electric energy, natural gas, cooling, and heating subsystems with co-production are established. With minimizing the overall system operation cost and optimizing environmental protection, the improved particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to solve the multi-constrained objective optimization problem. Finally, the optimized model is tested. The results from this study show that the energy system under cogeneration can find a balance between economy and environmental friendliness, and provide a reference for the subsequent energy supply configuration. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, the control problem of remote motor in cyber physical system (CPSs) under external disturbance is studied. An adaptive sliding mode reaching law and a double-threshold event-triggered strategy is proposed. Firstly, to reduce the chattering of the sliding mode surface, a new adaptive reaching law is designed, and the reachability is confirmed. In addition, a double-threshold event triggered strategy is proposed in order to effectively lower the system's consumption of communication resources. Finally, the stability of the system is proved. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the method is verified using a servo motor system. © 2022 IEEE.

BCDNet: A Fast Residual Neural Network For Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Detection

It is of great significance to diagnose Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (IDC) in early stage, which is the most common subtype of breast cancer. Although the powerful models in the Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) systems provide promising results, it is still difficult to integrate them into other medical devices or use them without sufficient computation resource. In this paper, we propose BCDNet, which firstly upsamples the input image by the residual block and use smaller convolutional block and a special MLP to learn features. BCDNet is proofed to effectively detect IDC in histopathological RGB images with an average accuracy of 91.6% and reduce training consumption effectively compared to ResNet 50 and ViT-B-16. © 2024, CC BY.

Ion Recombination Correction Factor in Ultra-High Dose Rate X-Ray Beams for Absolute Dose Measurement Using Micro-Thin Cylinder Ionization Chamber

Free electron laser (FEL) accelerators with ultra-high dose-rate X-Ray (X-UHDR) irradiations (>40 Gy/s) are emerging as a novel light source with the potential to revolutionize modern radiotherapy by inducing the which demonstrates increased tolerance of normal tissues compared to conventional dose rates. The accurate dosimetry is crucial for the implementation of FEL technology in clinical radiation therapy (RT) treatments. While ionization chambers are currently the standard in RT, addressing the issue of significant charge recombination at high dose rates is essential. In this context, we introduce a prototype of a micro-thin cylinder ionization chamber (MC-IC) with a 0.2 mm gap and analyze its charge collection behavior in X-UHDR beams to assess its potential application in flash RT. The impact of the ion collection efficiency (ICE) is calculated using various methods, along with a comparative and analytical discussion of the results. As expected, the MI-IC resulted in higher ICE at bias voltage during the saturation region, with a measured efficiency exceeding 95% with dose-per-pulse values up towards and above 8.825 Gy/pulse. The Boag theory and the two-voltage method (TVA) were employed to calculate the MI-IC ICE, and the results were compared with an empirical logistic model. The results confirmed that the TVA is suitable to use for the MI_IC in X-UHDR beams with free-electric fraction value . The general Boag model 3 agreed well with a high free-electric fraction value of p>0.5. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
