We construct a high sensitivity radon pilot detector using liquid scientillator dissolved radon for the CDEX rare-event searches program. The CDEX-10 project employs a germanium detector array immersed in a massive liquid nitrogen tank. However, radon emanated from the surface of the tank can contribute background. As a result, radon contamination in the liquid nitrogen tank must be regulated and monitored, which necessitates the use of a low-level Rn measuring device. The radon-dissolved liquid scintillator (LS) detectors utilizes cascade decayselections, yielding a unique signature. All background events occurring in the LS, with regard to the system and co-efficiency of Rn absorption, have been studied. Background activity is mearsured to be (59.8 ± 18.4)μBq per 300mL LS. Meanwhile, it shows that radon concentration absorbed by LS will be saturated and is linearly related to radon concentration in nitrogen gas. Furthermore, the co-efficiency factor can be optimized by lowering temperature or raising pressure. Eventually the detection limit for 222Rn in nitrogen gas is observed to be 9.6mBq/m3 © 2023, CC0.

With the advent of the big data era, higher technical requirements have been put forward for the management and retrieval of massive data. As a distributed NoSQL database under the Hadoop framework, HBase has been chosen by many companies as the storage medium for big data due to its strong scalability, excellent storage capabilities, and good read and write capabilities. However, HBase uses the Map-Reduce framework to process aggregate queries, which requires Calculate in real time and cannot keep the calculated result. This paper is dedicated to the research of query optimization technology based on HBase. In order to improve the efficiency of HBase for time series data aggregation and query, an index structure based on time split tree is proposed. The query overhead of tree index stored on disk is high and the query time is high. For problems affected by the amount of data, the time division tree structure is improved, and the query algorithm is optimized at the same time to avoid the disk I/O overhead of traversing the index tree layer by layer. First, save the time summary information, that is, the fixed-length data aggregation information, by constructing a time split tree;then persist the time split tree index into HBase according to the set time, add the corresponding timing information, and construct the sequence number, timing number, The HBase primary key of time range information;using time sequence information, through optimized index query algorithms, it can effectively narrow the data table retrieval range and improve the efficiency of aggregated information query. The effectiveness of the improved method is proved by a large number of wind farm wind turbine operating data. © 2021 IEEE.

Consumer electronics play a crucial role in the artificial intelligence internet of things (AIoT), with anomaly detection (AD) being particularly critical for the consumer product manufacturing industry. However, existing AD methods suffer from limitations such as poor detection accuracy and lack of explainability, hindering their widespread adoption in industrial manufacturing. To address these issues, we propose SADiTAD, a Sensitivity Analysis-based Diffusion Transformer for Anomaly Detection. This model comprises a diffusion transformer (DiT)-based reconstruction enhancement sub-network and a vision transformer (ViT)-based detection sub-network. In the DiT sub-network, we introduce a structural similarity index measure (SSIM)-guided one-step denoising method to expedite the denoising process. Additionally, to enhance the model's explainability, we develop a sensitivity analysis-based ViT (SA-ViT) model, which evaluates the sensitivity of input embeddings to various image regions to determine if the fault region is being accurately identified during anomaly detection. The proposed SADiTAD model has been evaluated on public datasets MVTec AD and VisA, demonstrating superior performance over existing state-of-The-Art anomaly detection methods and providing enhanced explainability. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

The application of mini-channels provides many practical benefits in several industries. Surface modification by chromium coating has the advantage of easy production and corrosion resistance to enhance heat transfer. Based on the method of electroplating and anodizing, the chromium coating layer on stainless steel surface is prepared with lower contact angle and higher number of activated vaporization cores. A comparative experimental study is conducted in mini-channels for stainless steel surfaces and anodized-chromium surfaces to investigate the subcooled flow boiling behavior. Based on the visual image and measurement analysis, the bubble behavior and heat transfer characteristics with increasing heat flux are investigated. The onset of initial boiling and reverse flow from anodized-chromium surface are earlier than that from stainless steel surface. The average and the maximum heat transfer coefficient are increased by 11.8% and 14.1% on anodized-chromium surface respectively. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Experimental Investigation and Mathematical Modeling on the Roles of Suspension and Deposition for Pool Boiling of Nanofluids

The influence of deposited and suspended nanoparticles on pool boiling of Al2O3 nanofluids was examined through visualization approach in this paper. The deposited nanoparticles cause the wettability to progressively increase as the concentration of nanofluid increases. The findings in this study demonstrate that deposited and suspended nanoparticles increase the frequency of bubble detachment and the quantity of active nucleate sites in water at a mass concentration ranging from 0.001% to 0.005%. The bubble behavior prediction equation was then rectified based on the surface contact angle, and the error margin was found to be within ±12% by comparing the experimental data. Based on which, the predicted values of the bubble behavior parameters were substituted into a corrected equation for boiling heat transfer. By validating the experimental data, the error margin was found to be within ±25%. Additionally, it was discovered that the effect of deposited nanoparticles on boiling heat transfer is always dominant at the heat fluxes between 50 and 250 kW/m2. © 2023, The Authors. Replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy sources, including wind and solar power, is a validated approach for mitigating carbon emissions. To maximize renewable energy potential and account for costs and impacts of low carbon energy transitions, research models or modelling tools must provide an accurate representation of the technological and economic capabilities of renewable energy technologies. Hence, this study assesses the electricity generation potential, and costs associated with onshore and offshore wind power, and solar photovoltaic (PV) system, in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region based on wind and solar atlas datasets. Unlike existing works in literature, the assessment of offshore wind energy potential and the calculation of the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) in this study incorporates factors like water depth, distance from shore, and wind speed. Also, the potential of onshore wind energy and solar photovoltaic systems is evaluated by considering variables such as population density, availability of suitable land area, and geographical location, for every grid cell in the MENA region. We found that the average LCOE can be as low as US$40/MWh for solar PV and US$45/MWh for wind power, achieved in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait respectively. This work contributes to existing literature by providing reliable LCOE, capacity factor, and productivity data for solar and wind energy potential estimation in the MENA region. © 2025 The Authors

Excitation of Multi-Wavelength Bound States in the Continuum by Multiple Symmetry-Broken Via Metasurface

Symmetry-protected bound states in the continuum (SP-BICs) offer a new pathway for the development of high-performance lasers with improved light-matter interactions on the nanoscale as well as highly sensitive optical sensors, owing to their infinite quality (Q) factor and remarkable field localization. However, the majority of current research has concentrated on exciting single or dual-wavelength quasi-BIC resonances at a single polarization, significantly constraining their applicability in multi-wavelength lasers and multi-channel sensors with polarization selectivity. In this work, a new strategy based on multiple symmetry-broken methods is proposed to achieve multi-wavelength high-Q quasi-BICs under dual-polarization. By introducing three distinct symmetry-broken perturbations, triple quasi-BICs can be induced in transverse magnetic polarization modes at wavelengths of 1071.18 nm, 1098.8 nm, and 1199.6 nm, respectively. Simultaneously, double quasi-BICs at wavelengths of 1375.9 nm and 1628.5 nm are generated in transverse electric polarization modes. The high-Q quasi-BIC resonances render the designed S-shaped metasurface particularly suitable for sensing applications. The obtained results indicate that the refractive index sensitivity corresponding to the excited quasi-BIC resonance can be as high as 895 nm/RIU, which is better than similar studies previously reported. This work paves the way for the development of applications in multi-wavelength communications, lasers, and ultrasensitive biosensors. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Nonlinear Acoustic Echo Cancellation Based on Pipelined Hermite Filters

This paper introduces a new class of nonlinear filters for nonlinear acoustic echo cancellation (NLAEC) based on Hermite nonlinear filters (HNFs), which is a sub-class of linear-in-the-parameters nonlinear filters (LIPNFs). Specifically, the basis functions of HNFs include cross-terms of the expanded inputs at different time instants, and are mutually orthogonal for white normally distributed input signals. Although HNFs yield good performance for NLAEC, they suffer from high computational complexity. To tackle this problem, a computationally efficient pipelined variant of HNFs is introduced. The pipelined HNFs (PHNFs) include a nonlinear part followed by a linear one such that the input space is first expanded nonlinearly and then cast by a linear mapping to the output space. Experimental results using both synthesized and real data, and involving several nonlinear scenarios show the effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
