As an emerging composite material with high specific strength, CF/PEEK which is widely used in the aerospace field has not only high specific modulus, strong impact resistance and high temperature resistance, but also weldability and recoverability compared with the traditional thermosetting composite material. However, due to strong anisotropy and thermal flow characteristics of matrix, CF/PEEK has surface machining defects that are difficult to be controlled during dry cutting, so it’s difficult to be applied for structural/functional components at micro scale. In this paper, the damage characteristics of CF/PEEK machining surface under the conditions of micro-milling were investigated. Initially, a quantitative characterization system for surface damage characteristics in CF/PEEK micro-milling was established. The surface roughness, surface character, surface structure and surface complexity were studied respectively. Based on the designed orthogonal experiments of micro milling and the established quantitative characterization system of machining surface damage characteristics, a multi-objective optimization model of CF/PEEK micro milling process based on grey relational analysis and response surface method was established in this paper, and the damage characteristics of CF/PEEK micro milling process under different micro-milling process parameters were studied. It is found that the partially removal of carbon fiber reinforcement can be achieved by the micro-milling process, and the effective regulation of the surface damage characteristics of CF/PEEK micro-milling can be achieved by the correlation between the microscopic surface damage characteristics and the quantitative characterization system. © 2024, The Authors. Continual Test-Time Adaptation (CTTA) aims to adapt models to sequentially changing domains during testing, relying on pseudo-labels for self-adaptation. However, incorrect pseudo-labels can accumulate, leading to performance degradation. To address this, we propose a Conformal Uncertainty Indicator (CUI) for CTTA, leveraging Conformal Prediction (CP) to generate prediction sets that include the true label with a specified coverage probability. Since domain shifts can lower the coverage than expected, making CP unreliable, we dynamically compensate for the coverage by measuring both domain and data differences. Reliable pseudo-labels from CP are then selectively utilized to enhance adaptation. Experiments confirm that CUI effectively estimates uncertainty and improves adaptation performance across various existing CTTA methods. © 2025, CC BY.

The fast compressed sensing (CS) reconstruction for natural image processing aims to infer the original pixel vector from randomized measurements as correctly as possible. Current first-order proximal mainstream schemes, including alternating direction methods of multipliers (ADMM) and the iterative shrinkage thresholding algorithm (ISTA), have advantages in convergence and stability at the expense of computing speed and complex tuning strategy. This paper proposes the deep iterative shrinkage network for real-time applications, where network layers replace the iterative optimization steps. The hyperparameters associated with shrinkage thresholds and step sizes are adjusted by standard deep learning updates. Numerical results suggest that the proposed method has flexibility and effectiveness in image reconstruction with different compression ratios while preserving the computational simplicity of end-to-end methods. © 2021 IEEE.

Temperature-stabilized ultra-low temperature co-fired molybdate composite ceramics for superposition state generator between vortex and spherical waves

Interference superposition states between vortex and spherical waves can further enhance the spectrum utilization of wireless communication technologies. Here, a temperature-stabilized 0.55 Li2Mg1.94Zn0.06Mo3O12∼0.45 Li0.5Bi0.5MoO4 composite ceramic is synthesized using a solid-state reaction method. This ceramic sintered at 600 °C has excellent microwave dielectric properties (Εr = 12.5, Q × f = 22779 GHz, and τf = +5.7 ppm/°C). For the first time, this composite ceramic is used to design and demonstrate an array device for generating a superposition state between vortex and spherical waves. The superposition state is achieved by the interference between x- and y-polarized waves. The transmission amplitudes are all above 0.66 and the transmission phase covers 360°. It is revealed that the generation state can be controlled by switching the polarization state of the incident wave, including vortex wave, spherical wave and superposition state. The superposition state consists of three helical stripes rotating counterclockwise. This work promotes the development of the ULTCC field and further broadens the range of dielectric ceramic applications. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l.

High entropy alloys (HEAs) are considered as potential accident tolerant fuel (ATF) coatings due to their excellent properties. However, there is still a lack of understanding about the effects of irradiation on the steam oxidation behavior, which hinders the design of advanced ATF HEAs coatings. In the current work, the steam oxidation behavior of Au ions irradiated AlCrNbTiZr HEA coatings was investigated. It is found that irradiation changes the high-temperature steam oxidation behavior of the material primarily by enhancing elemental diffusion. Irradiation accelerated oxidation by increasing the diffusion rate and depth of oxygen (O). Irradiation optimized the phase composition of the surface oxide layer by enhancing outward diffusion of Ti, thereby releasing releases the growth stress of oxides and avoids cracking and peeling of the surface oxide layer. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Urban Flooding Risk Assessment Based on Numerical Simulation of Sub-catchment Area: A Case Study From chengdu, China

Urbanization and climate change usually result in frequent urban flooding. Since the floods cannot be avoided, the scenario simulation combined with risk analysis is an effective way to assess the disaster level and reduce direct damage loss when facing the emergency management problems. Different from the whole city dimension, the paper proposed a sub-catchment multi-index hesitant fuzzy evaluation model for the community planning level, and takes Jinjiang District of chengdu city as the research object. Firstly, based on the PSR (Pressure-State-Response) model, the risk assessment system has been established in three aspects, including the current situation of urban drainage, the basic geographic information, and the social influence. Secondly, A total of 14 evaluation indexes were selected, among which the pressure index came from the calculation results of ArcGIS and EPASWMM5 model such as runoff coefficient, maximum water depth, etc. Thirdly, the expert hesitate fuzzy evaluation method was used to obtain the weight of 14 indexes of each sub-catchment. Finally, the 224 evaluation results were compared, and the urban flooding disaster risk map has been drawn. It is mainly concluded that 160 medium-higher risk areas were mainly concentrated in high built-up area in study area. Furthermore, the evaluation model is very useful as a decision-making tool for mitigation of the flood hazard and its associated risk. © 2021, CC BY.

By accurate measurement of composition and energy spectrum in the knee region, problem of origin of galactic cosmic ray can be solved. Hadrons are the "skeleton" of extensive air shower (EAS) and possess favorable information concerning the cosmic ray composition and energy. The electron-neutron detector (EN-detector) can detect both EAS electrons and thermal neutrons generated by EAS hadrons in surrounding matter. The electron-neutron detector array (ENDA) was proposed to be added into Large High Altitude Air Shower Observatory (LHAASO) to improve its capability of EAS hybrid detection. One cluster (16 detectors) of ENDA, so called "ENDA-16" has been operated at LHAASO (4410 m a.s.l.) for three years. In spring of this year (2023), ENDA was extended to 64 EN-detectors, so called "ENDA-64". In this report, we will describe installation and running status of ENDA-64 and present results of hybrid detection of cosmic ray by using ENDA and LHAASO. © Copyright owned by the author(s) under the terms of the Creative Commons.
