Seawater uranium extraction is a key technology for environmental sustainability with significant potential applications. For the first time, this work synthesized a CTAB/Bent-MOF808 with strong stability, abundant coordination functional groups, and low cost, and assessed its adsorption effectiveness for U (VI) in carbonate solutions. The study explores how pH, contact time, uranium concentration, temperature, carbonate, halide salts, phosphorus, and Ca/Mg ions influence uranium adsorption, with a focus on mechanistic insights through characterization and modeling. Under optimal conditions (temperature of 25 °C, pH 8.0, with a sodium bicarbonate concentration of 2 mmol L −1 and a U(VI) concentration of 50 mg L −1 ), which are similar to the real seawater environment, CTAB/Bent-MOF808 demonstrated superior uranium adsorption performance compared to MOF808 and CTAB/Bent in U(VI)–CO 3 solutions. Under high initial pH, NaHCO 3 , Ca/Mg ions, and halide ion concentrations, the complex's uranium adsorption capacity and removal rate are reduced due to competitive adsorption between ions, as well as increased electrostatic repulsion on the surface. The sorption process was identified as monolayer homogeneous chemical adsorption process by analyzing it with quasi second order kinetic models and Langmuir isotherm models. The inhibitory effect of halide ions is as follows: I − > F − > Br − > Cl − . XPS suggested that the complexation of bromide anion with –COOH and electrostatic attraction could be crucial processes for uranium adsorption. This study offers theoretical insights into uranium extraction from natural uranium-bearing waters and highlights the expanded potential of MOF-based adsorbents in this process, enhancing both efficiency and application scope.

Personalized Saliency in Task-Oriented Semantic Communications: Image Transmission and Performance Analysis

Semantic communication, as a promising technology, has emerged to break through the Shannon limit, which is envisioned as the key enabler and fundamental paradigm for future 6G networks and applications, e.g., smart healthcare. In this paper, we focus on UAV image-sensing-driven task-oriented semantic communications scenarios. The majority of existing work has focused on designing advanced algorithms for high-performance semantic communication. However, the challenges, such as energy-hungry and efficiency-limited image retrieval manner, and semantic encoding without considering user personality, have not been explored yet. These challenges have hindered the widespread adoption of semantic communication. To address the above challenges, at the semantic level, we first design an energy-efficient task-oriented semantic communication framework with a triple-based scene graph for image information. We then design a new personalized semantic encoder based on user interests to meet the requirements of personalized saliency. Moreover, at the communication level, we study the effects of dynamic wireless fading channel on semantic transmission mathematically and thus design an optimal multi-user resource allocation scheme by using game theory. Numerical results based on real-world datasets clearly indicate that the proposed framework and schemes significantly enhance the personalization and anti-interference performance of semantic communication, and are also efficient to improve the communication quality of semantic communication services. © 2022, CC BY.

Although deep learning is developing rapidly and being applied on a large scale, its essence is still a black box model. When evaluating the credibility of the model, the judgment for the prediction of the model is important. Based on the I-GOS algorithm in the field of visual interpretation, we effectively extract the effective information of the sample and then use the sample to retrain a new model to improve the accuracy of the model. Thus, a new data enhancement method is proposed to train the algorithm by using the ImageNet dataset and retrain it by using the I-GOS algorithm to extract effective information. The experiment result shows that compared with the original model, the accuracy of the new model is improved by 5% in the top 1 and 3% in the top 5, which fully proves the effectiveness of this data enhancement method.

Achieving Noise Suppression of Multichannel Lock-In Amplifier Based on Signal Segmentation

This study proposes a multichannel signal-segmented lock-in amplifier (LIA) for suppressing co-frequency noise and processing signals containing local anomalies. Signal-segmented LIAs can counteract the interference caused by co-frequency noise in different signal segments, preventing the superimposition of co-frequency noise at different times in the input signal, which ultimately reduces its impact on the output. A module for detecting localized anomalous signals was incorporated into the LIA, enhancing its anti-interference capability. Through simulation, the mean square error (MSE) of the outputs from the signal-segmented LIA and the conventional software-implemented LIA (SILIA) were compared, validating the effectiveness of signal segmentation. Furthermore, an eddy current magneto-optic (ECMO) nondestructive testing (NDT) system with signal-segmented LIA was developed for detecting defects in weakly conductive materials carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP). Comprehensive experiments demonstrated that the signal-segmented LIA significantly suppressed co-frequency noise interference in its output compared to the traditional SILIA and exhibited superior anti-interference to localized anomalous signals. These results further validate the efficacy of the signal segmentation approach. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

The advent of Industry 4.0 has precipitated the incorporation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods within industrial contexts, aiming to realize intelligent manufacturing, operation as well as maintenance, also known as industrial intelligence. However, intricate industrial milieus, particularly those relating to energy exploration and production, frequently encompass data characterized by long-tailed class distribution, sample imbalance, and domain shift. These attributes pose noteworthy challenges to data-centric Deep Learning (DL) techniques, crucial for the realization of industrial intelligence. The present study centers on the intricate and distinctive industrial scenarios of nuclear Power Generation (NPG), meticulously scrutinizing the application of DL techniques under the constraints of finite data samples. Initially, the paper expounds on potential employment scenarios for AI across the full life-cycle of NPG. Subsequently, we delve into an evaluative exposition of DL's advancement, grounded in the finite sample perspective. This encompasses aspects such as small-sample learning, few-shot learning, zero-shot learning, and open-set recognition, also referring to the unique data characteristics of NPG. The paper then proceeds to present two specific case studies. The first revolves around the automatic recognition of zirconium alloy metallography, while the second pertains to open-set recognition for signal diagnosis of machinery sensors. These cases, spanning the entirety of NPG's life-cycle, are accompanied by constructive outcomes and insightful deliberations. By exploring and applying DL methodologies within the constraints of finite sample availability, this paper not only furnishes a robust technical foundation but also introduces a fresh perspective toward the secure and efficient advancement and exploitation of this advanced energy source. In the operation process of the power plant, in addition to the operating state information of the power plant process systems and components is monitored by Industrial Control Systems (ICSs), a large number of the operating state information of ICSs and its components themselves can be obtained. These information helps operators to understand the operation safety state of ICSs themselves, and whether ICSs operate reliably, which plays an important role in maintaining the normal operation of the power plant, controlling abnormal events and mitigating the development of accidents. This paper proposes an integrated methodological framework for real-time risk awareness and prediction of ICS based on the particle filtering model whose features are updating monitoring data and predicting the state transition process, and focus on the measurement of risk states, identification of critical risk states and key components, modeling of the state transition process, prediction of risk levels and estimation of remaining arrival time of high-risk residual. The assumption that the transition probability matrix of system states does not change over time in traditional Markov predictions is discarded in this proposed method. Compared with the traditional ICS safety analysis method, this method can provide global and systemic risk insights for ICS risk situation, with a better real-time performance, and it is a kind of more scientific and objective measurement for ICS risk situation.

The practical commercialization of lead-based perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has been hindered by lead toxicity, despite their low production cost and high efficiency. Recently, researchers have intensified to reduce the toxicity of PSCs by developing alternative lead-free compositions. This study aims to optimize lead-free RbGeI3-based PSC through SCAPS-1D tool, by utilizing pristine TiO2 and TiO2/graphene (Gr) nanocomposite at different concentrations (0.5 %, 1 %, 1.5 %) as electron transport layer (ETL) and NiO as hole transport layer (HTL). The impact of TiO2+Gr nanocomposite ETLs on PSC performance was examined, focusing on layer thickness, doping concentrations, defect densities in the perovskite layer and at the interfaces, and temperature effect. When pristine TiO2 was used as the ETL, the device exhibited an open circuit voltage (VOC=0.9126 V), current density (JSC=31.59 mAcm−2), and power conversion efficiency (PCE=24.91 %). However, with the optimal TiO2+Gr(0.5 %) ETL, improved carrier transport and reduced interface defects boosted VOC=1.0622 V, and JSC=31.98 mAcm−2. This led to a 30.14 % enhancement in cell efficiency, resulting in 19 % increase in PCE compared to the undoped TiO2-ETL. © 2024 Elsevier GmbH

This paper focuses on a distributed cooperative time-varying formation maneuvering issue of under-actuated unmanned surface vehicles. A fleet of USVs is guided by a parameterized path with a time-varying formation while avoiding collision and preserving connectivity in environment with multiple obstacles. In some surface missions, due to the obstacles in the external environment, the bandwidth limitations of the communication channel, and the hardware components/performance constraints of the USVs itself, each vehicle is considered to be subject to model uncertainty, actuator quantization, sensor dead-zone and velocity constraint. During the control design process, the radial basis function neural networks are utilized to deal with nonlinear term. Based on a nonlinear decomposition method, the relationship between control signal and quantization ones is established, which overcomes the difficulty arising from actuator quantization. A Nussbaum function is introduced to handle the unknown output dead-zone problem caused by reduced sensor sensitivity. Moreover, an universal-constrained function is employed to satisfy both constrained and unconstrained requirements during formation keeping and obstacle avoidance. The Lyapunov function theory confirmed the stability of the closed-loop system. It is shown that all signals are semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed distributed formation control of multiple USVs. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The tin-oxo cage ([R12Sn12O14(OH)6]2+) is an excellent photoresist candidate in the EUVL (extreme ultraviolet lithography). Photoionization that leads to plenty of primary and secondary electrons is an inevitable process upon irradiation by EUV light. The secondary electron could cause electron blur and decrease the resolution of the photoresist. The utilization and improvement are limited due to its poorly understood fundamental chemical process. In this paper, the property of complexes formed by the combination of the cage and different counterions (methanesulfonate, tosylate, and triflate) was explored by density functional theory (DFT). The number and species of counterions are closely associated with ionization and electron attachment but show an inconspicuous effect on carbon-tin bond energy. Meanwhile, tin radical could be the reactivity site of ionization (and electron affinity). The activity of radical species is affected by counterions could attribute to the changes in the charge density by diverse counterions, which could be an important factor in why the counterion affects the pattern. And a superb linearity between the ADCH of tin radical and IP/AP was found, indicating that the ADCH could be a simple substitution of complicated calculation for IP (or AP) to screen suitable counterions and improve the resolution of photoresist. © 2023, The Authors. The effects of Nb on the steam oxidation kinetic behavior of FeCrAl alloy during two different heating stages, i.e., the initial heating and the subsequent holding stage, were studied. Nb addition significantly decreased the weight gain at the holding stage. Nb addition also promoted the formation of Al2O3 and suppressed the growth of Fe and Cr oxides, resulting in the thinner oxide film in the heating stage. Also, the oxide film is much easier to wrinkle in the subsequent holding stage. In addition, the formation of Nb2O5 promotes the formation of discontinuous granular Al2O3 in oxide films and substrates. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.
