Influence of rare earth doping on hydrogen absorption properties of Zr_(7)V_(5)Fe alloy

As a representative of non-evaporative getter,Zr-V-Fe has gained widespread attention due to its advantages including low activation temperatures and rapid hydrogen absorption *** this study,we investigated the impact of La and Ce doping on the thermodynamic,kinetic,and activation properties of Zr_(7)V_(5)Fe alloy.X-ray diffraction analysis shows that rare earth doping causes a decrease in the cell volume of both the ZrV_(2) andα-Zr phases of Zr_(7)V_(5)Fe alloy,which results in an increase in the plateau pressure of the *** kinetic curves illustrate that rare earth doping leads to a coarseα-Zr phases and a larger particle size after activation,resulting in a decrease in the hydrogen absorption kinetic *** for the activation process,the rare earth doped alloys exhibit excellent activation with shorter incubation periods.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy investigations reveal that Zr and V are initially in a highly oxidized *** the heating temperature increases,they undergo a transition from oxidation state to metal *** content of metal Zr in rare earth doped alloys is higher than that in undoped alloys at 250℃,primarily due to rare earth elements'affinity for oxygen.

Reconstruction and interpretation of photon Doppler velocimetry spectrum for ejecta particles from shock-loaded sample in vacuum

The photon Doppler velocimetry(PDV) spectrum is investigated in an attempt to reveal the particle parameters of ejecta from shock-loaded samples in a vacuum. A GPU-accelerated Monte–Carlo algorithm, which considers the multiplescattering effects of light, is applied to reconstruct the light field of the ejecta and simulate the corresponding PDV *** influence of the velocity profile, total area mass, and particle size of the ejecta on the simulated spectra is discussed qualitatively. To facilitate a quantitative discussion, a novel theoretical optical model is proposed in which the singlescattering assumption is applied. With this model, the relationships between the particle parameters of ejecta and the peak information of the PDV spectrum are derived, enabling direct extraction of the particle parameters from the PDV *** values of the ejecta parameters estimated from the experimental spectrum are in good agreement with those measured by a piezoelectric probe.

We introduce a class of entangled subspaces: completely entangled subspaces of entanglement depth k (k−CESs). These are subspaces of multipartite Hilbert spaces containing only pure states with an entanglement depth of at least k. We present an efficient construction of k−CESs of any achievable dimensionality in any multipartite scenario. Further, we discuss the relation between these subspaces and unextendible product bases (UPBs). In particular, we establish that there is a nontrivial bound on the cardinality of a UPB whose orthocomplement is a k−CES. Further, we discuss the existence of such UPBs for qubit systems.

Many configurations in plasma physics are axisymmetric,it will be more convenient to depict them in cylindrical coordinates compared with Cartesian *** this paper,a gas-kinetic scheme for collisional Vlasov-Poisson equations in cylindrical coordinates is proposed,our algorithm is based on Strang *** equation is divided into two parts,one is the kinetic transport-collision part solved by multiscale gas-kinetic scheme,and the other is the acceleration part solved by a Runge-Kutta *** asymptotic preserving property of whole algorithm is proved and it’s applied on the study of charge separation problem in plasma edge and 1D Z-pinch *** results show it can capture the process fromnon-equilibrium to equilibrium state by Coulomb collisions,and numerical accuracy is obtained.

The ^(232)Th(n,f)cross section is very important in basic nuclear physics and applications based on the Th/U fuel *** the time-of-flight method and a multi-cell fast-fission ionization chamber,a novel measurement of the^(232)Th(n,f)cross sec-tion relative to^(235)U in the 1–200 MeV range was performed at the China Spallation Neutron Source Back-n white neutron source(Back-n).The fission event-neutron energy spectra of^(232)Th and^(235)U fission cells were measured in the single-bunch *** 232Th/235U fission cross-sectional ratios were obtained,and the measurement uncertainties were 2.5–3.7%for energies in the 2–20 MeV range and 3.6–6.2%for energies in the 20–200 MeV ***^(232)Th(n,f)cross section was obtained by introducing the standard cross section of^(235)U(n,f).The results were compared with those of previous theoreti-cal calculations,measurements,and *** measured 232Th fission cross section agreed with the main evaluation results in terms of the experimental uncertainty,and 232Th fission resonances were observed in the 1–3 MeV *** present results provide^(232)Th(n,f)cross-sectional data for the evaluation and design of Th/U cycle nuclear systems.

Combining test statistics from independent trials or experiments is a popular method of meta-analysis. However, there is very limited theoretical understanding of the power of the combined test, especially in high-dimensional models considering composite hypotheses tests. We derive a mathematical framework to study standard meta-analysis testing approaches in the context of the many normal means model, which serves as the platform to investigate more complex models. We introduce a natural and mild restriction on the meta-level combination functions of the local trials. This allows us to mathematically quantify the cost of compressing m trials into real-valued test statistics and combining these. We then derive minimax lower and matching upper bounds for the separation rates of standard combination methods for e.g. p-values and e-values, quantifying the loss relative to using the full, pooled data. We observe an elbow effect, revealing that in certain cases combining the locally optimal tests in each trial results in a sub-optimal meta-analysis method and develop approaches to achieve the global optima. We also explore the possible gains of allowing limited coordination between the trial designs. Our results connect meta-analysis with bandwidth constraint distributed inference and build on recent information theoretic developments in the latter field. © 2023 Neural information processing systems foundation. Directed pulsed neutron source generation from inverse kinematic reactions driven by intense lasers

Neutron production driven by intense lasers utilizing inverse kinematic reactions is explored self-consistently by a combination of particle-in-cell simulations for laser-driven ion acceleration and Monte Carlo nuclear reaction simulations for neutron *** is proposed that laser-driven light-sail acceleration from ultrathin lithium foils can provide an energetic lithium-ion beam as the projectile bombarding a light hydrocarbon target with sufficiently high flux for the inverse p(^(7)Li,n)reaction to be efficiently ***-dimensional self-consistent simulations show that a forward-directed pulsed neutron source with ultrashort pulse duration 3 ns,small divergence angle 260,and extremely high peak flux 3×10^(14)n/(cm^(2)·s)can be produced by petawatt lasers at intensities of 10^(21)W/cm^(2).These results indicate that a laser-driven neutron source based on inverse kinematics has promise as a novel compact pulsed neutron generator for practical applications,since the it can operate in a safe and repetitive way with almost no undesirable radiation.

Rarity meters are incorporated by industry and discursive by academia. Rarity, as an intuitive term, attracted numerous researchers to present their own view of it. While there is existing literature on comparing rarity meters, it requires access to NFT collection data, which can be challenging for researchers without a background in blockchain technology. This has created a demand for an easily accessible rarity meter benchmark. In this paper, we introduce the Rating over all Rarities (ROAR) benchmark, which includes data from one hundred popular NFT collections from the Ethereum blockchain, implemented a weighted correlation-based performance measurement function, as well as four state-of-the-art rarity meters (***, Kramer, OpenRarity, and NFTGo), along with a new rarity meter called ROAR. Our experiments show that the ROAR rarity meter, an ensemble of the other four meters, outperforms its competitors, with *** and Kramer as runner-ups. The ROAR benchmark is a tool for examination and testing of rarity meter ideas, and we challenge readers to develop models that can outperform the ROAR rarity meter. © 2024 IEEE.

Creativity relates to the ability to generate novel, and effective, ideas in the areas of interest. How are such creative ideas generated? One possible mechanism that supports creative ideation, and is gaining increased empirical attention, is by asking questions. Question asking is a likely cognitive mechanism that allows defining problems, facilitating creative problem solving [15]. However, much is unknown about the exact role of questions in creativity. This work presents an attempt to apply text mining methods to measure the cognitive potential of questions, taking into account, among others, (a) question type, (b) question complexity, and (c) content of the answer. This contribution summarizes the history of question mining as a part of creativity research, along with the natural language processing methods deemed useful, or helpful, in the study. Furthermore, a novel approach is proposed, implemented, and applied to five datasets. Obtained experimental results are comprehensively analyzed, suggesting that natural language processing has a role to play in the creativity research. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Detailed discussion of discrepancy between theoretical and observed spectral lines in Kr-like W^(38+)based on advanced consideration of core electron correlations

For the observed line at 799.23°A in tungsten EBIT experiment,which was assigned to be^(3)F_(4)^(o)−^(3)F_(3)^(o)([Ar]4s^(2)4p^(5)4d)of W^(38+)ion,there were noticeable deviations for most calculated wavelengths from the measured *** clarify this issue,we carry out an extensive calculation for energy levels and transition properties of W^(38+)ion using the multi-configuration Dirac–Hartree–Fock and relativistic configuration interaction method,in which more deeper inner core electron correlations are included,and different forms of Breit interaction as well as quantum electrodynamics corrections are *** is found that the inner core electron correlations can affect the total energy of levels,while only slightly modify the excited energy of levels in 4s^(2)4p^(5)4d *** present calculated wavelengths agree with the corresponding measured values excellently except the line at 799.23Å.Thus we are strongly suspicious this line should be misidentified,and suggest that new experiment with higher resolution and spectra analysis based on more accurate atomic data should be performed for W^(38+)ion.
