Cross-target stance detection (CTSD) is an important task, which infers the attitude of the destination target by utilizing annotated data derived from the source target. One important approach in CTSD is to extract domain-invariant features to bridge the knowledge gap between multiple targets. However, the analysis of informal and short text structure, and implicit expressions, complicate the extraction of domain-invariant knowledge. In this paper, we propose a Multi-Perspective Prompt-Tuning (MPPT) model for CTSD that uses the analysis perspective as a bridge to transfer knowledge. First, we develop a two-stage instruct-based chain-of-thought method (TsCoT) to elicit target analysis perspectives and provide natural language explanations (NLEs) from multiple viewpoints by formulating instructions based on large language model (LLM). Second, we propose a multi-perspective prompt-tuning framework (MultiPLN) to fuse the NLEs into the stance predictor. The joint European Space Agency and Chinese Academy of sciences Solar wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer(SMILE)mission will explore global dynamics of the magnetosphere under varying solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field conditions,and simultaneously monitor the auroral response of the Northern Hemisphere *** these large-scale responses with medium and fine-scale measurements at a variety of cadences by additional ground-based and space-based instruments will enable a much greater scientific impact beyond the original goals of the SMILE ***,we describe current community efforts to prepare for SMILE,and the benefits and context various experiments that have explicitly expressed support for SMILE can offer.A dedicated group of international scientists representing many different experiment types and geographical locations,the Ground-based and Additional science Working Group,is facilitating these *** include constructing an online SMILE data Fusion Facility,the discussion of particular or special modes for experiments such as coherent and incoherent scatter radar,and the consideration of particular observing strategies and spacecraft *** anticipate growing interest and community engagement with the SMILE mission,and we welcome novel ideas and insights from the solar-terrestrial community.

The frequency Band of 0.5 THz to 1.1 THz (WR1.5 and WR1) is one of the promising bands when it comes to 6G. In this paper, we propose a novel metamaterial absorber suitable to be used at lower WR1 frequencies in TE mode. Alternatively, the design can be used as a strong absorber at lower Terahertz frequencies. The study on minimal linear codes has received great attention due to their significant applications in secret sharing schemes and secure two-party computation. Until now, numerous minimal linear codes have been discovered. However, to the best of our knowledge, no infinite family of minimal ternary linear codes was found from vectorial functions. In this paper, we present a necessary and sufficient condition for a large class of ternary linear codes from vectorial functions such that those codes are minimal. Based on that, we construct several minimal ternary linear codes with three-weight from vectorial regular plateaued functions, and determine their weight distributions. Moreover, we also give a necessary and sufficient condition for a large family of ternary linear codes from vectorial functions such that the codes are minimal and violate the AB condition simultaneously. According to this characterization, we find several minimal ternary linear codes violating the AB condition. Notably, our results show that our method can be applied to solve a problem on minimal linear codes proposed by Li et al. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

DBSCAN and OPTICS are powerful algorithms for identifying clusters of points in domains where few assumptions can be made about the structure of the data. In this paper, we leverage these strengths and introduce a new algorithm, LINSCAN, designed to seek lineated clusters that are difficult to find and isolate with existing methods. In particular, by embedding points as normal distributions approximating their local neighborhoods and leveraging a distance function derived from the Kullback Leibler Divergence, LINSCAN can detect and distinguish lineated clusters that are spatially close but have orthogonal covariances. We demonstrate how LINSCAN can be applied to seismic data to identify active faults, including intersecting faults, and determine their orientation. Finally, we discuss the properties a generalization of DBSCAN and OPTICS must have in order to retain the stability benefits of these algorithms. © 2024, CC BY.

Here, using first-principles density functional theory calculations, we have investigated the feasibility of monolayer TiC as a potential anode material for Li/Na-ion batteries. The electronic structure of monolayer TiC shows semimetallic characteristics with a Dirac cone at the M high symmetry point and the formation of Ti or C vacancies transforms the Dirac cone into a nodal loop or a nodal surface, respectively. Most remarkably, monolayer TiC exhibits energy densities of 2684 and 2015 mWh/g for Li and Na, respectively, which are significantly higher than commercial graphite and most other 2D anode materials. The fully loaded TiC anode exhibits excellent cycle stability with volume expansions as low as 0.13 and 0.11 %, for Li and Na, respectively. Furthermore, an ultrafast diffusivity with low energy barriers of 0.02 and 0.10 eV is found in monolayer TiC for Li-ion and Na-ion, respectively, which suggests that it has an excellent charge/discharge capability. These exceptional properties make monolayer TiC an excellent candidate as an anode material for Li-ion and Na-ion batteries. Finally, SiC(111) has been proposed as a candidate substrate for monolayer TiC due to its minimal lattice mismatch. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the last few years, alternative gravity theories have seen increased interest due to the lack of observational evidence of dark matter. Further, new empirical patterns found in rotation curve data such as the Radial Acceleration Rule (RAR) have given new testable features for gravitational theories. In this paper, we revisit two popular surveys of galaxies (Randriamampandry et al 2013 and Bottema et al 2015) which when published were shown to be problematic for alternative gravity. Here, we apply the most recent observational parameters to the surveys and provide fits of Conformal Gravity, MOND as well as the RAR rotation curve formalism and show how these theories can apply to the new findings. We also provide the fits to the RAR and Tully-Fisher relation for each theory and discuss how the RAR may allow for some confining of parameters in the fitting procedure. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

We examine the modulus stabilization mechanism of a warped geometry model with nested warping. Such a model with multiple moduli is known to offer a possible resolution of the fermion mass hierarchy problem in the standard model. A six dimensional doubly warped braneworld model under consideration admits two distinct moduli, with the associated warp factors dynamically generating different physical mass scales on four 3-branes. In order to address the hierarchy problem related to the Higgs mass, both moduli need to be stabilized around their desired values without any extreme fine tuning of parameters. We show that it is possible to stabilize them simultaneously due to the appearence of an effective 4D moduli potential, which is generated by a single bulk scalar field having non-zero VEVs frozen on the 3-branes. We also discuss how the entire mechanism can possibly be understood from a purely gravitational point of view, with higher curvature f(R) contributions in the bulk automatically providing a scalar degree of freedom that can serve as the stabilizing field in the Einstein frame. © 2022, CC BY.

Epidemic-induced local awareness behavior inferred from surveys and genetic sequence data

Behavior-disease models suggest that pandemics can be contained cost-effectively if individuals take preventive actions when disease prevalence rises among their close contacts. However, assessing local awareness behavior in real-world datasets remains a challenge. Through the analysis of mutation patterns in clinical genetic sequence data, we propose an efficient approach to quantify the impact of local awareness by identifying superspreading events and assigning containment scores to them. We validate the proposed containment score as a proxy for local awareness in simulation experiments, and find that it was correlated positively with policy stringency during the COVID-19 pandemic. Finally, we observe a temporary drop in the containment score during the Omicron wave in the United Kingdom, matching a survey experiment we carried out in Hungary during the corresponding period of the pandemic. Our findings bring important insight into the field of awareness modeling through the analysis of large-scale genetic sequence data, one of the most promising data sources in epidemics research. © The Author(s) 2025.
