Influence of element substitutions on poisoning behavior of ZrV_(2)alloy:theoretical and experimental investigations

A ZrV_(2)alloy is typically susceptible to poisoning by impurity gases,which causes a considerable reduction in the hydrogen storage properties of the *** this study,the adsorption characteristics of oxygen on ZrV_(2)surfaces doped with Hf,Ti,and Pd are investigated,and the effect of oxygen on the hydrogen storage performance of the alloy was ***,the adsorption energy,bond-length change,density of states,and differential charge density of the alloy before and after doping are analyzed using the first-principles *** theoretical results show that Ti doping has a limited effect on the adsorption of oxygen atoms on the ZrV_(2)surface,whereas Hf doping decreases the adsorption energy of oxygen on the ZrV_(2)*** atoms are more difficult to adsorb at most adsorption sites on Pd-substituting surfaces,which indicates that Pd has the best anti-poisoning properties,followed by *** analysis of the differential charge density and partial density of states show that the electron interaction between the oxygen atom and surface atom of the alloys is weakened,and the total energy is reduced after Hf and Pd *** on theoretical calculations,the hydrogen absorption kinetics of ZrV_(2),Zr_(0.9)Hf_(0.1)V_(2),and Zr(V_(0.9)Pd_(0.1))_(2) alloys are studied in a hydrogen-oxygen mixture of 0.5 vol%O_(2) at 25℃.The experimental results show that the hydrogen storage capacities of ZrV_(2),Zr_(0.9)Hf_(0.1)V_(2),and Zr(V_(0.9)Pd_(0.1))_(2) decrease to 19%,69%,and 80%of their original values,*** order of alloy resistance to 0.5 vol%O_(2) poisoning is Zr(V_(0.9)Pd_(0.1))_(2)>Zr_(0.9)Hf_(0.1)V_(2)>ZrV_(2).Pd retains its original hydrogen absorption performance to a greater extent than undoped surfaces,and it has the strongest resistance to poisoning,which is consistent with previous theoretical calculations.

With an estimated 264 million people affected by MDD globally, there is an urgent need for novel approaches to diagnosis and treatment. This study explored the complex gene expression profiles linked to Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) using state-of-the-art Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), namely RNA-Seq. There is a need for accurate, non-invasive diagnostics, particularly through gender-specific biomarker research in female RNA-Seq data. To address this disparity, RNA-Seq data was analyzed using Machine Learning (ML) techniques to categorize female-specific MDD, identifying 10 critical biomarkers and utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and bioinformatics to extract transcriptome data from publicly available datasets, while employing Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) for data augmentation due to the limited availability of large RNA-Seq datasets. Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and other bioinformatics analyses further demonstrated that genes differentially expressed in MDD patients were enriched in pathways related to the cell cycle, neutrophil degranulation, resolution of sister chromatid cohesion, and the formation of mitotic spindles by EML4 and NUDC. Ten important biomarkers associated with MDD were identified by an integrative bioinformatics investigation: IGHV3-64D, IGHV5-10-1, IFI27, LILRB5, PBK, SIGLEC1, IFI44L, CDCA5, and SLC4A1. Machine learning models based on these genes achieved 95% accuracy, highlighting potential of RNA-Seq and ML to enhance MDD diagnosis and reveal its molecular mechanisms. © 2024 IEEE.

Aspect-Sentiment Triplet Extraction (ASTE) is one of the most challenging and complex tasks in sentiment analysis. It concerns the construction of triplets that contain an aspect, its associated sentiment polarity, and an opinion phrase that serves as a rationale for the assigned polarity. Despite the growing popularity of the task and the many machine learning methods being proposed to address it, the number of datasets for ASTE is very limited. In particular, no dataset is available for any of the Slavic languages. In this paper, we present two new datasets for ASTE containing customer opinions about hotels and purchased products expressed in Polish. We also perform experiments with two ASTE techniques combined with two large language models for Polish to investigate their performance and the difficulty of the assembled datasets. The new datasets are available under a permissive licence and have the same file format as the English datasets, facilitating their use in future research. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Monitoring photochemical pollutants based on symbolic interval-valued data analysis

This study considers monitoring photochemical pollutants for anomaly detection based on symbolic interval-valued data analysis. For this task, we construct control charts based on the principal component scores of symbolic interval-valued data. Herein, the symbolic interval-valued data are assumed to follow a normal distribution, and an approximate expectation formula of order statistics from the normal distribution is used in the univariate case to estimate the mean and variance via the method of moments. In addition, we consider the bivariate case wherein we use the maximum likelihood estimator calculated from the likelihood function derived under a bivariate copula. We also establish the procedures for the statistical control chart based on the univariate and bivariate interval-valued variables, and the procedures are potentially extendable to higher dimensional cases. Monte Carlo simulations and real data analysis using photochemical pollutants confirm the validity of the proposed method. The results particularly show the superiority over the conventional method that uses the averages to identify the date on which the abnormal maximum occurred. © 2022, Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Phase-field-based lattice Boltzmann method for containerless freezing

In this paper we first propose a phase-field model for the containerless freezing problems, in which the volume expansion or shrinkage of the liquid caused by the density change during the phase change process is considered by adding a mass source term to the continuum equation. Then a phase-field-based lattice Boltzmann (LB) method is further developed to simulate solid-liquid phase change phenomena in multiphase systems. We test the developed LB method by the problem of conduction-induced freezing in a semi-infinite space, the three-phase Stefan problem, and the droplet solidification on a cold surface, and the numerical results are in agreement with the analytical and experimental solutions. In addition, the LB method is also used to study the rising bubbles with solidification. The results of the present method not only accurately capture the effect of bubbles on the solidification process, but also are in agreement with the previous work. Finally, a parametric study is carried out to examine the influences of some physical parameters on the sessile droplet solidification, and it is found that the time of droplet solidification increases with the increase of droplet volume and contact angle.

Finite mixtures of nonlinear mixed-effects models have emerged as a prominent tool for modeling and clustering longitudinal data following nonlinear growth patterns with heterogeneous behavior. This paper proposes an extended finite mixtures of nonlinear mixed-effects model in which the mixing proportions are related to some explanatory covariates. A logistic function is incorporated to describe the relationship between the prior classification probabilities and the covariates of interest. For parameter estimation, we develop an analytically simple expectation conditional maximization algorithm coupled with the first-order Taylor approximation to linearize the model with pseudo data. The calculation of the standard errors of estimators via a general information-based method and the empirical Bayes estimation of random effects are also discussed. The methodology is illustrated through several simulation experiments and an application to the AIDS Clinical Trials Group Protocol 315 study. © Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2022.

In classical statistics, research typically relies on precise data to estimate the population mean, especially when auxiliary information is available. However, in the presence of outliers, conventional statistical approaches that depend on accurate data and auxiliary information encounter challenges. The primary objective is to attain the most accurate population mean estimates while minimizing the mean square error. Neutrosophic statistics, a more attractive framework than classical statistics, deals with data characterized by imprecision and uncertainty. In this current article, we adapt Särndal’s strategy and introduce neutrosophic mean estimators, applying them to meteorological data, specifically stratified dew point data. In these proposed estimators, the incorporation of auxiliary information and the application of robust techniques address issues that arise due to outliers and imprecise observations. These factors can otherwise undermine the effectiveness of neutrosophic estimation methods. The article also suggests combining auxiliary information with extremely indeterminate neutrosophic observations, utilizing robust regression methods (Huber-M, Hampel-M, and Tukey-M), as well as the quantile regression technique. These approaches enhance the neutrosophic mean estimation process. The outcomes, which include the utilization of dew point data, showcase the superior performance of the proposed estimators compared to adapted estimators in a neutrosophic context. Ultimately, this study provides valuable insights by taking an initial step in defining and utilizing the concept of neutrosophic indeterminate extreme observations. © 2025, University of New Mexico. This paper is devoted to the development of a localized Large Language Model (LLM) specifically for Arabic, a language imbued with unique cultural characteristics inadequately addressed by current mainstream models. Significant concerns emerge when addressing cultural sensitivity and local values. To address this, the paper proposes a comprehensive solution that includes further pre-training with Arabic texts, Supervised Fine-Tuning (SFT) utilizing native Arabic instructions, and GPT-4 responses in Arabic, alongside Reinforcement Learning with AI Feedback (RLAIF) employing a reward model attuned to local culture and values. The goal is to cultivate culturally cognizant and value-aligned Arabic LLMs capable of accommodating the diverse, application-specific needs of Arabic-speaking communities. Comprehensive evaluations reveal that the resulting model, dubbed ‘AceGPT’, sets the state-of-the-art standard for open Arabic LLMs across various benchmarks.
