Percolation theory has been widely used to study phase transitions in network systems. It has also successfully explained various macroscopic spreading phenomena across different fields. Yet, the theoretical frameworks have been focusing on direct interactions among nodes, while recent empirical observations have shown that indirect interactions are common in many network systems like social and ecological networks, among others. By investigating the detailed mechanism of both direct and indirect influence on scientific collaboration networks, here we show that indirect influence can play the dominant role in behavioral influence. To address the lack of theoretical understanding of such indirect influence on the macroscopic behavior of the system, we propose a percolation mechanism of indirect interactions called induced percolation. Surprisingly, our model exhibits a unique anisotropy property. Specifically, directed networks show first-order abrupt transitions as opposed to the second-order continuous transition in the same network structure but with undirected links. A mix of directed and undirected links leads to rich hybrid phase transitions. Furthermore, a unique feature of the nonmonotonic pattern is observed in network connectivities near the critical point. We also present an analytical framework to characterize the proposed induced percolation, paving the way to further understanding network dynamics with indirect interactions.

Mathematical model of the subdiffusion impedance in multilayer nanostructures is considered on the basis of the Cattaneo-type diffusion equation in fractional derivatives. The Nyquist diagrams are calculated for different values of subdiffusion coefficient and time parameter (time for which the flow delays concerning the gradient of charge carriers concentration). A qualitative agreement is obtained for the GaSe system with encapsulated β-cyclodextrin. © 2021 IEEE.

Abstract: The technology is described for constructing the set of the initial data using the technique of eliminating the model’s bias for seasonal experiments with a numerical climate model of the institute of Numerical mathematics of the Russian Academy of sciences (INM RAS), which was originally developed for multi-annual experiments. A comparative analysis of the multiyear mean correlation coefficients of the anomalies for different meteorogical fields and regions in winter seasons with similar results of the SLAV model is carried out. The presence of an increase in the correlation coefficients of anomalies in the years of the El Niño and La Niña phenomena is revealed. The coincidence of the phases of the quasi-biennial oscillation is shown. The model anomalies of sea-level pressure, the amount of precipitation, and the surface temperature are compared with the anomalies of the reanalysis and the similarity is shown. © 2021, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

In this paper, a phase-field based lattice Boltzmann (LB) method is proposed to simulate solid-liquid phase change phenomena in multiphase systems. The method couples the thermal properties of the solidification front with the dynamics of the droplet interface, which enables the description of the complex interfacial changes during solid-liquid phase change process. The volume expansion or shrinkage of the droplet caused by the change of density during phase change is represented by adding a mass source term to the continuum equation. We first test the developed LB method by the three-phase Stefan problem and the droplet solidification on a cold surface, and the numerical results are in good agreement with the analytical and experimental solutions. Then the LB method is used to study the solidification problem with bubbles. The results show that the model can accurately capture the effect of bubbles on the solidification process, which is in good agreement with the previous work. Finally, a parametric study is carried out to examine the influences of some physical parameters on the sessile droplet solidification, and it is found that the time of droplet solidification increases with the increase of droplet volume and contact angle. This paper develops two parameter-free methods for solving convex and strongly convex hybrid composite optimization problems, namely, a composite subgradient type method and a proximal bundle type method. Both functional and stationary complexity bounds for the two methods are established in terms of the unknown strong convexity parameter. To the best of our knowledge, the two proposed methods are the first universal methods for solving hybrid strongly convex composite optimization problems that do not rely on any restart scheme nor require the knowledge of the optimal value. © 2024, CC BY.

Part-of-speech tagging is the process of assigning words in a given text to appropriate parts-of speech in order to reduce the disambiguation which may arise depending on the contextual usage of the words. In this paper, the problem of word sense disambiguation in Azerbaijani language is addressed by applying part of speech tagging on two varying data corpora, misspelled, and edited (clean) text using 3 different machine learning algorithms: Hidden Markov Model, Long Short-Term Memory, and Conditional Random Fields. The comparative analysis on the outcomes of the mentioned algorithms and their accuracy scores were analysed in the paper. The misspelled dataset for the experiments is provided by Unibank from their chatbot dialogues while the clean textual data was retrieved from the books and newspapers in Azerbaijani. The experiments showed that the Bidirectional LSTM has the highest accuracy scores for both edited (98.2%) and noisy (96.2%) data corpora. Suggested models can be used in the application of algorithms focuses on part of speech tags and syntactic structure of Azerbaijani language which is an agglutinative language belonging to Turkic languages family, thus enabling the research to be further investigated in other agglutinative languages with similar grammatical structure. © 2022 ACM.

PiLocNet: physics-informed neural network on 3D localization with rotating point spread function

For the 3D localization problem using point spread function (PSF) engineering, we propose a novel enhancement of our previously introduced localization neural network, LocNet. The improved network is a physics-informed neural network (PINN) that we call PiLocNet. Previous works on the localization problem may be categorized separately into model-based optimization and neural network approaches. Our PiLocNet combines the unique strengths of both approaches by incorporating forward-model-based information into the network via a data-fitting loss term that constrains the neural network to yield results that are physically sensible. We additionally incorporate certain regularization terms from the variational method, which further improves the robustness of the network in the presence of image noise, as we show for the Poisson and Gaussian noise models. This framework accords interpretability to the neural network, and the results we obtain show its superiority. Although the paper focuses on the use of a single-lobe rotating PSF to encode the full 3D source location, we expect the method to be widely applicable to other PSFs and imaging problems that are constrained by well modeled forward processes. Phase transition of a non-Abelian quasiperiodic mosaic lattice model with p-wave superfluidity

It is now widely believed that p-wave superfluidity is the key to generate a novel critical phase in the non-Abelian Aubry-André-Harper model. However, we here establish that this belief is incorrect. In this work, we systemically investigate the phase transition of a non-Abelian quasiperiodic mosaic lattice model with p-wave superfluidity. The results show that the critical phase exists only in the quasiperiodic model, whereas in the mosaic model, despite the presence of p-wave superfluidity, the critical phase is absent, and mobility edge (ME) phases are generated instead. Furthermore, if the period of the mosaic modulation κ≥3, the results even show that regardless of the strength of the p-wave superfluidity, there are only extended and ME phases, but neither critical nor localized phases. This work clearly reveals the phase transition of a non-Abelian quasiperiodic mosaic lattice model with p-wave superfluidity, and it may be testified in near-term state-of-the-art experimental settings.

The Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert (LLG) and Landau-Lifshitz (LL) equations play an essential role for describing the dynamics of magnetization in solids. While a quantum analog of the LL dynamics has been proposed in [Phys. Rev. Lett. 110, 147201 (2013)], the corresponding quantum version of LLG remains unknown. Here, we propose such a quantum LLG equation that inherently conserves purity of the quantum state. We examine the quantum LLG dynamics of a dimer consisting of two interacting spin-12 particles. Our analysis reveals that, in the case of ferromagnetic coupling, the evolution of initially uncorrelated spins mirrors the classical LLG dynamics. However, in the antiferromagnetic scenario, we observe pronounced deviations from classical behavior, underscoring the unique dynamics of becoming a spinless state, which is nonlocally correlated. Moreover, when considering spins that are initially entangled, our study uncovers an unusual form of revival-type quantum correlation dynamics, which differs significantly from what is typically seen in open quantum systems.

Elasticity and acoustic velocities of δ-AlOOH at extreme conditions: a methodology assessment

Hydrous phases play a fundamental role in the deep-water cycle on Earth. Understanding their stability and thermoelastic properties is essential for constraining their abundance using seismic tomography. However, determining their elastic properties at extreme conditions is notoriously challenging. The challenges stem from the complex behavior of hydrogen bonds under high pressures and temperatures (P, Ts). In this study, we evaluate how advanced molecular dynamics simulation techniques can address these challenges by investigating the adiabatic elasticity and acoustic velocities of δ-AlOOH, a critical and prototypical high-pressure hydrous phase. We compared the performances of three methods to assess their viability and accuracy. The thermoelastic tensor was computed up to 140 GPa and temperatures up to 2,700 K using molecular dynamics with a DeePMD machine-learning interatomic potential based on the SCAN meta-GGA functional. The excellent agreement with ambient condition single-crystal ultrasound measurements and the correct description of velocity changes induced by H-bond disorder-symmetrization transition observed at 10 GPa in Brillouin scattering measurements underscores the accuracy and efficacy of our approach.
