FDTD method is a common approach for electromagnetic propagation, scattering and coupling simulation. Conventional FDTD with universal mesh requires numerous computations to represent solve problems with multi-scale structures. In this paper, adaptive mesh refinement (AMR) strategy is performed to reduce the calculations along with symmetric positive semi-definite subgridding scheme to guarantee stability. Numerical example of a missile seeker coupling simulation shows that the computation time decrease down to 2% while preserving excellent precision.
